He's not cheap, but charges professionally for professional work. I work by the hour or gig, too; I understand charging what one is worth. Two things to note: His studio work is in a shared space (which works fine) rather than a permanent studio (lots of it is on location, of course), and he doesn't accept checks (and upcharges for credit cards). Can't say I blame him. That's easily handled by electronic payment such as Venmo or direct bank transfer, no muss, no fuss. I'll update this when the album cover's finished.

I searched through almost 90 websites of Austin photographers and eliminated all but three. Most were the same dull, stock poses and backgrounds that don't tell you anything about the person in the picture. Of the three whose portfolios I liked, one was VERY expensive, one didn't reply to my query for more than two weeks...and one was John Langford. John was very prompt in responding, answered all my questions, and -- most importantly -- GOT what I was looking for. We set up an appointment and it was fun and easy, not like my previous photo shoots. John has a great eye, makes good suggestions on poses and expressions, and I was super-thrilled with the results of our session. Everyone who's seen the pix has been impressed, because John truly captured my personality and sense of humor. These are the best promo shots I've ever had! And the bonus is that John is such a nice, funny guy, easy to talk with and very creative. You will NOT be disappointed in the pictures John does for you!

Natalie Cass is a world-class photographer and she made me completely at ease. It can be an intimidating experience to sit and have someone else take your picture.
