Personally went in and ordered a prom bouquet and corsage. Had them write the order out so there would be no misunderstanding of what was requested. Set pick-up time for 9:00 a.m. When going to pick up the order was told it was not ready and the designer was not yet in the shop. Come back two hours later. Came back and the order was nothing like the one I had placed. My order said NO ROSES and the bouquest was entirely made of ROSES. The corsage was gaudy and nothing like ordered. They totally ruined what was to be a special bouquet for prom. Had to have the entire order redone some place else. Would not recommend this florist to anyone for anything. Ordered an arrangement for the funeral of my brother in law. Paid extra to get the most blooms on the arrangement. For $200, what was delivered was a miniscule basket with three hydrangea and a handful of sagging roses. WHAT an Embarrassment!!!! We called Whiting Floral about this POS and we're basically blown off. My Husband has ordered flowers from this shop for me twice - the first time was for Valentine's Day and when I received the order it was wrong (apparently he ordered a dozen red and white roses but I only received red). He was peeved about it so he called and they put a "note" on our "file" to make up for it on our next order. So - he ordered for me last week (on July 3rd) and the display of roses was beautiful and he ordered a dozen but I received 18 (I'm assuming to make up for the Valentines Day mistake)......but, they had not removed all of the thorns (ouch!) and the roses began to wilt and brown (in a cool and air conditioned house) on the second day. Very disappointing. Needless to say as much as we wanted to be supportive to a local business, we will likely not order from this shop again. read more

Wish that I could give 0 stars!!! I ordered a dozen lavender flowers with white baby's breath and glitter on the baby's breath for my daughter's graduation. I was so excited because she loves the color purple. Well, when I got there, I looked at the bouquet and almost cried. The flowers looked white with hot pink edges and glitter all over the flowers. They looked aweful. I told the lady that these were not the flowers that I had ordered and showed her a picture on their website of the flowers that I had ordered. She tried to tell me that my phone wouldn't show the right colors. I told her that I actually was looking at my computer when I placed the order. I argued that I wanted my money back(I had prepaid over the phone) since it was not what I ordered. She became really rude and called the manager on the phone. The manager said that I could not have my money back. I told the lady to get the manager here because I wanted my money back. The lady then grabbed the flowers and finally gave me my money. I was so upset. Ended up going to Jewel and getting a dozen pink and white roses for half the price of Whiting, but they actually looked so much prettier after the nice lady arranged them for me. You were suppose to deliver this order between 9 am and 12 pm. We paid extra for this service and it's apparent that you have a hard time being able to understanding how to use a clock. You didn't make the effort to deliver. We had to call 1800 flowers to check on this order they said you would deliver it that day and at around 130pm it was on its way. The recipient is 94 and doesn't go out. So your delivery person goes out and says it's undeliverable. Why didn't they go back later in the day? Your delivery time is until 8 pm according to 1800 flowers. So you Make the arraignment for 6/1/18 and don't deliver until late afternoon 6/2/18. You missed her birthday because of your lack of follow through. Made her day worse because my wife's mom the recipients daughter passed away on June 2. That's why we waited it delivered on Friday. But this is to much for you handle. We will make sure that we will never use you again and let our family and friends in Munster, Hammond and Dyer stay away from your terrible service as well. you so much for ruining this for us. I've had 2 very disappointing experiences with the shop that indicate issues with management and staff. First of all, the people answering the phone are unprofessional and almost rude in the way they interact with customers. Second, the arrangements do not match the photos on the website (i.e. no bow on the vase as shown, different color of roses, different filler flowers). I understand that florists cannot always have the exact flowers in stock but the lack of a bow is inexcusable and communication with customers should be much better. Also, I was given a specific delivery date for the flowers I ordered and the flowers were delivered the following day (even though I called to confirm on the original scheduled delivery date). Overall, this shop is operated unprofessionally and I will not be using it in the future. read more

This is the only review that I have written where I wish Yelp allowed for zero stars. Whiting Flower is a poor excuse for a flower shop, with the worst delivery person on the planet. This is also a local florist that 1800Flowers uses. The issue began when this company was used by 1800Flowers to resend an order of a dozen roses as a Valentine's Day gift. The delivery person from Whiting Flower Shop came to the door on Friday, 2/20 for the delivery. My wife answered the door and he proceeded to berate and ridicule her for not having the sidewalk fully cleaned of ice. While the walkway had a few spots of thin ice, there was plenty of clean walkway to make it up to the doorway, as evidenced by our regular FedEx and UPS deliveries which are made with no complaints or issues by those professionals. As he continued to berate her, she simply shut the door and called it a day, with the experience of knowing that we will never use or recommend this flower shop again. Unfortunately, it didn't end there. The same delivery man attempted to re-deliver the roses on Saturday, 2/21 (he had apparently dropped the vase on 2/20, so he was making another attempt). This time, I answered the door and the first words out of this same deliveryman's mouth were "You need to shovel your walk." What? Are you kidding me? He continued to scold me and tell me how I needed to shovel and clean my walk. While I am always open to suggestions from knowledgeable and intelligent professionals, it was obvious that this delivery person satisfied none of those traits. He simply was a crusty, unhappy, ignorant individual who obviously not only didn't like his job, but probably does not even like people. Whiting Flower Shop, why do you have someone like this on your payroll? My guess would be this person is somehow related to the owners or management at this shop, which would be the only qualification he would have to be employed in this position. My suggestion to this delivery man would be to give up the delivery position and see if you can find a job at a local Walmart, perhaps as a greeter, where people may be more tolerant of someone who only has to say "Welcome to Walmart" and where your verbal communications skills would be limited to only those 3 words. So, because of this rude, unprofessional treatment from Whiting Flower Shop, not only will we never do business with this company again, but we also will never do business with 1800Flowers again. My suggestion to those of you reading this review would be the same. read more

I have ordered a couple of times from here, each time I would think I would better service. I have ordered on the phone and I have gone in person to order at the shop i get the same horrible experience. If you go in the ladies in there are quite rude, it takes a while before they come up to you and once they take your order they always switch it up to "what they think is better" even when you tell them what you want. Delivery I think is the worst, always late! Always, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, even if you ask to pick it up, you'll be there at least an extra 30min for them to "finish your order". If you order from 1800flowers and you order from a picture that you seen there, don't expect to get the same thing. Bad business over all.. I suggest to go somewhere else! read more

Horrible experience. Went in and placed my order directly with the manager/owner of the flower shop. She took down my last name for a ribbon that was to be attached to the flowers as this was a sympathy bouquet. On my receipt our last name was spelled correctly as I made sure of that. Sadly, the flowers were delivered with our last name misspelled. The following day I called and spoke to her and she said "well that ifyou didn't like it you should have removed the ribbon". She also said "oh my little Mexican girl here said she knew the last name so she's the one who spelled it". She then said she could give me $5 back when the flowers were over $140. She was very rude and spoke as if she did not have time to deal with the issue. I have tried calling back and left messages and she has not returned the call. I will not return to this place. It was already heartbreaking enough to be at a funeral and to see your arrangement not as you ordered it was more upsetting. As if this weren't enough to deal with; I called and tried to resolve the matter and was rudely dismissed by the owner of the shop. Clearly, if they make an error here at this shop they are NOT willing to fix it ...you can ask to speak to the manager but she'll simply blame someone else and send you off. read more
