Wednesday morning we were at All Things Storage. Since I only rented a truck, I know nothing about their storage services. All Things Storage is in Fountain Square, and a bit farther away from my house I was packing than I had hoped. It was an older building and had no parking lot for customers. We had to parallel park on a side street. A couple of shady characters walked past, and I was sure to keep the car doors locked. A narrow bumpy alleyway full of large potholes the city have no doubt left in disrepair for years is behind the storage place. The entrance to the alley was right to the side of where we had to park. Now, it isn't All Things Storage's fault that they have a crappy alley or that U-Haul sent us this far away and charged us for a "dolly" that was actually a large skateboard, so I'm basing stars on the service given here. It took several minutes to get checked in and sent on our way with our truck. It wasn't busy, but it took twenty minutes. There were U-Hauls parked on the side road where we were parked, and that was strange enough. The truck we needed was a block away on English. The building seems to be a tight squeeze and not the best location for neither a U-Haul store nor a storage unit. I kind of felt like I was in a rundown section of Chicago that you don't want to be in even during daylight hours. Since it seemed like the trucks were awkwardly scattered on the outskirts of the property, I'm not certain where the storage facilities are or how you access them, especially if you have a U-Haul full of stuff. Now, they may very well have a great storage business. I don't know, but, just from my impression of the outside, I personally don't think I would feel safe storing things here if I had to be down here alone or with another woman sorting through my things with the unit open, but that's just me. All Things Storage also lies right next to train tracks. While I rather enjoyed seeing and hearing the train go by when we first arrived, I could see how the tracks could certainly be a potential problem for some to get in and out of this facility, especially with a U-Haul and if you're in a hurry to get on the road or to return a truck. Overall, we did get the truck we needed, and we weren't mugged, but it was just more awkward and complicated than it needed to be. I don't like that there is no private lot for customers to collect their U-HAUL. It could have been worse, so I'm going middle of the road here on stars, even though I would personally try to get a truck from another U-Haul location in the future.

My roommate reached out and did the coordinating. He filled out the quote form and they never gave us a quote. The woman he coordinated with said she didn't work in the field so she wouldn't be able to give us an estimate even though we provided a list of items needed moved and our two houses were only 7 minutes away from each other. We confirmed two days before and the day before to make sure the move was still on, as the weather was going to be very cold. We were moving in December. They confirmed the time with us, a window of 9-10 am and showed up at 11:20 am. They did not have uniforms on (the website said they would be uniformed) and were not dressed for the cold. Some were wearing zip up hoodies. No jackets and no gloves. The website also they said they would provide mattress bags and they did not. Instead they brought mine and my 3 roommates' mattress out to the curb and set them in the snow while they loaded up the truck with other items. They asked to borrow our tools and then we never got them back nor did we get our hand cart back. We can only assume that they must have taken it with them when they left as it is hard to lose a hand cart! When we got to the new house our team of five men had dropped down to three. The move was taking even longer because of that. We were being charged hourly and now the team of movers was down man power. No one let us know why. Once they were done getting everything into the new house wooden floors were scratched and corners were shredded to the point there were little piles of paint and wood on the floor. My roommate's bed frame was taken apart (with our now missing screw driver) and put back together so poorly we realized it was actually BROKEN! It has pull out drawers that now when you pull on them the whole side of the bed frame comes off. His dresser with a marble top was scratched beyond belief! Other stuff happened and was damaged, but I don't need to write a whole novel. In the end I was put on the spot to pay. The means of communication when it came to paying was confusing. We were not told how it was going to be done before hand. In the end I, the person who did not coordinate with the team, was passed a phone from one of the movers and was ON SPEAKER while a woman from the office asked TWO TIMES if I would like to leave a tip in addition to the total price ($1,800, way over what we thought it would be. But hey they didn't give us a quote). I refused both times while on speaker in front of the three man crew that was left. I paid with my credit card over the phone and handed the iPhone back to the mover and they left. My roommate who was the point person for the move was then called five minutes later by the same woman at the office and she told my roommate that I did not leave a tip and asked if he would like to leave a tip. By this point we had done a sweep of the house and saw the damages in full. We documented the damages and sent over photos. We were told that management would be contacted, but we have received no updates from them on how to make this right. Their website states they have damage protection, so I assume they would be able to cover damages or at least give us some money back! I don't recommend this moving service. I really don't know what else to say.

(they eventually said they could help almost 6 hours after the scheduled time). Integrity was able to provide two movers in less than 90 minutes who did a fantastic job. We are going to paint our two and half car garage floor with one of those do-it-yourself epoxy…read morecoatings kits with the flakes. Our first issue was the concrete floor still had some old paint that still held a good bond after testing. We had to break that seal for the new paint, epoxy and coatings to adhere well. We started applying paint stripper and taking it off with scrapers and wire brushes but it quickly became clear it was going to be labor intensive. The kit instructions suggested another method of breaking down the seal/bond by using a concrete sander. My wife checked with Home Depot and Lowes who both advertise that they rent tools and equipment but neither had any concrete sanders. Using Yelp's search engine brought us to In A Pinch Rent It and after searching their website we saw they had one that looked like the perfect fit for our needs and could be rented 4 hours for $79 or all day at $109. You can also purchase a damage waiver (which we did) that protects you from any damage up to $2500 for like 10$. She called to confirm they had what we needed and we went to the Martinsville location to pick it up. They showed us how to operate it, and how to fold down the handle. He also told us to let the machine do the work. They loaded it into the car for us. The machine worked as we were told. The vibration did cause the cord to come unplugged a few times but other than that no issues at all. We would suggest that you get the dust vacuum attachment because it did create dust everywhere. It would have been an additional $50 and they did ask us if we wanted it but we just didn't think we would need it. Originally we only were going to sand the bonded areas which was a small area but we ended up sanding the entire floor. In hindsight, we should have spent the extra money to reduce the dust. We now know a great place where we can rent tools and equipment when we need them. The staff were all friendly and knowledgable about their products. They actually went above and beyond when we brought the equipment back. They unloaded the grinder and thanked us for renting from them. My wife's car for whatever reason would not start and they brought out a charger box and started her car. If you are like us, we want to support local businesses. This is a good place to support. They have many tools and lots of equipment for rent. The also have moving supplies, boxes for sale and U-Haul trucks for rent. Please give this place a try, you won't be sorry. They have a resident cat who is very friendly and loves to be petted. Our granddaughter loved the cat.

Very displeased with this. I've now learned that I need to find out ahead of time if I'm going to get progressively raped by a storage company. Find out ahead of time how much a storage facility is going to raise your rent before you rent.
