    How welcoming :-/

Very sketchy, uncomfortable vibe. I wasn't sure if I pulled up to the right place due to all the cars, dirt and gravel parking area. Looked more like a house or biker club meeting area. Walked in to this lovely flag and unwelcoming stares, like what Is she doing here? No seriously, a older man at the end of the bar yelled, "Don't worry, you're safe," as everyone else laughed. Really? Stood there for about 2 mins before even being greeted just for me to tell them I had a call in order that clearly hadn't been started yet even though I called about 20 min prior. A part of me wanted to turn around and leave right then. But I said no, some of the best food I've had came from a whole in a wall, I'm not going to be like that.. should've listened to my gut. Left smelling like a years worth of cigarette smoke and completely bland wings and onion rings. My experience was completely different than the reviews and I do not recommend nor will I return.

Pickups and Harleys in the parking lot. It must be good.

I love a good dive bar. And reminiscent of an old country store, White Oak Grill AND Lounge is the Holy Grail of that genre. White Oak has liquor--and food--and they take credit cards--three things most true dive bars don't have. The bar is bursting with old school, roadside honky tonk character. Their sign is a simple hand-painted piece of plywood. Parking is in a gravel lot (littered with a few beer cans) off the highway. And walking into the bar with a screen door slamming behind me just feels right. Staff was friendly and the food was really good. We had mushroom/jalapeno pizza and fried okra because we're healthy like that. I was surprised to see the bartender/cook making the pizza dough fresh with each order. The pizza was awesome. White Oak has pool tables, outdoor seating, and a stage for karaoke and live music (I was there seeing a friend's blue grass band). And you can get fried dough, boiled peanuts, and Jello shots. It's better than the State Fair! The full menu features country cookin' and typical bar fare. I can't wait to stop in for breakfast--and it's nice to know I can have a shot of whiskey with my egg sandwich if I'm so inclined. Thank you White Oak. There aren't many places like you left in this trendy world.

This place ain't fancy but it's a great place to get a good meal. Don't let the decor (or lack thereof) scare you off. This is a friendly neighborhood bar with some of the best food in Garner. The burgers are excellent. The pizza is the best we've had in Garner (they make their own dough in-house), and the onion rings are among the best I've had anywhere. They don't usually have microbrews, they don't serve craft cocktails (they do mix a good margarita, though) and they certainly don't have artisanal ice (or artisanal anything), but if you're looking for a tasty bite or a cold beer in a friendly atmosphere, this is the place.

Truly enjoyed the folks at White Oak- Melissa was great behind the bar and the food is AWESOME and cheap!

We went with the plof and manti. The atmosphere in the restaurant had great holiday decorations amd was very cozy. I had soup, manti (dumplings) with dumpling- lamp plate and meatball sub. The dumpling soup was good- felt like a familiar taste of clean hardy dumping in blotch. Manti- we ordered half steamed and half friend and they were great! I tell ya- these dumplings are huge and it can possibly feed two people and can walk out full. The lamb plate was exceptional- it's not Mediterranean- super clean and flavorful dish. Meatball sub was the best I e had! Crunchy sub and juicy meatball with savory marinara and gooey cheese. Second time I had khachapuri (the boat looking bread with cheese in center and egg!). Super rich but pleasant. I would need this in - real cold and starving setting haha this bread alone can fill 3 people in my a Opinion. Also ordered 2 bowls of borsch (cabbage soup). Super refreshing- clean-savory, absolutely delicious. We also ordered Philly cheese steak - again, amazing sub. Crunchy light sub bread - full of beef steak, cheese. Service: both times, different servers, great service. Great recommendations. Can be bit slow service when it is busy. Price: reasonable price. Hidden Gem!

I arrived at Rudino's in Southern Pines at approximately 10 min after ordering and waited almost another 30 minutes to receive my order. When the hostess brought the pizza, she said they messed up when cutting or slicing the pizza and threw another slice in a to-go box as though that would suffice in making it better. I thought this was absolutely absurd - the slice was nothing more than an old piece of another pie that was sitting under a warmer for probably hours and since it was close to closing threw it my way - it was disgusting. It appeared (see photo) they either dropped the pizza or took a bite out of it. When I ordered the Sicilian pizza, I thought it was going to be the traditional thick, deep crust, two inch plus pizza. I was perplexed and very disappointed to see it was nothing more than a traditional round pie with a taste that was overpowering with salt, the cheese was stale, there was no sauce, and very little meat. I feel it was deceptive to advertise and serve a Sicilian pizza masked as a round traditional pie that I can have ordered from Dominoes much cheaper. I was disappointed when walking in and having to wait as long as I did while observing the staff spend more time on their cell phones and gossiping with one another. I would think the least they should do is pull the Sicilian pizza from the menu until such time you can actually make one like Vera Pizza & Grill, Café Vesuvio in Sanford, SoPies in Southern Pines, Brooklynn Pizza, etc. I sent an email and tried calling Rudino's to discuss but they refuse to reply back.

Once upon a time, this place wasn't just a pizza restaurant--it was a pilgrimage site. People…read morewhispered about its crust like it was sacred text, and its awards lined the walls like a shrine to melted cheese and triumph. "Best Pizza" many years running back when that actually meant something. Now? It feels less like a restaurant and more like a nostalgic reenactment gone very wrong. The menu still reads like a dream--Carolina crust this, atomic sauce that--but ordering has become a real exercise in imagination. Half the ingredients are apparently on a spiritual journey and no longer physically present. You'll ask for sharp cheddar and get a thoughtful pause, followed by, "We don't have sharp cheddar, we might have a Wisconsin sharp cheddar?" --which, to their credit, has the word "cheddar" in it. The staff move with the energy of a group project that everyone forgot was due today. Pizzas emerge... interpretively. You might order a margherita and receive something that captures its essence, emotionally, if not structurally. It's less "wrong order" and more "pizza as a suggestion." A master of creative problem-solving, this cashier has boldly redefined the concept of "making change." Why fumble with buttons and math when you can simply hand over two beers and call it even? It's less of a transaction and more of a surprise gift exchange--one where the rules are unclear and the outcome is mildly concerning. And the wine list--oh, the wine list--is a beautiful historical document. A relic. A time capsule from at least six months ago, when bottles still existed and hope flowed freely. Now, asking for wine feels like asking about a long-lost friend. "We don't have that," they'll say, gazing into the middle distance. Still, there's something oddly annoying about it all. Like walking into a once-revered theater that still clings to its golden-age reputation. The performances feel like echoes rather than art, the lighting flat where it once dazzled, and every scene drags with the weight of trying to live up to a forgotten past. It's not bad enough to be a disaster--just disappointing enough to make you wonder if the hype was ever real or if you're just eating the ghost of someone else's great experience. Cheers!
