Even though the food is good, but not great bar food, the fried pickles are the best I've had. Good selections of beer, ales, and ciders. The service is great--lots of hustle. Nice staff. The atmosphere is a big open room with lots of TVs for watching sporting events. There are game areas and a stage for live music. They had karaoke on the Friday night that we went. The food was ok. The nachos were good, had onion rings, fries and chips along with toppings. The Porkchop i specifically asked if the side of apples were a lot because i would've had a diffrent side, he said no only a couple came on the side. The pork chop came slightly underdone, which i did not like, and there was literally like a cup full of sliced apples. When we first arrived it took 10 mins of them staring at us first to realize they were at work and needed to take our order. Brick House Hillsboro St has one thing in their favor. . Joey (our server) was busy although attentive during this Monday evening drop in. The atmosphere has been good so far. The food however has much room for improvement. We ordered a buffalo chicken wrap, wings and a brunch burger. The burger was plain although well prepared. The Brick House is a good choice to eat. The prices are reasonable and the food is ok. It is nothing fancy. I went with the fish and chips and it reminded me of the frozen pieces. The fries were really good and the portions generous. I wouldn't order the dish again. Service was good and attentive. The restaurant is a good size and Royal Mall has underground parking and a lot. This is the place if you want to watch sports on tv or play pool. They do have outdoor seating and at least some of it is covered but people were smoking there so that was not going to work for us. Went in on a Saturday night. The place was moderately busy, but we were able to get seats without issues. The servers were very nice- but slow. Maybe understaffed that night? Not really sure, but it took a long time to get our order taken. Most of the food we got was good- your basic bar food. However the wings were a disappointment. Ordered them with a dry rub seasoning, and I feel like they dropped them in a vat of paprika. Honestly, I should have sent them back. They were cooked well- just badly seasoned. Maybe we do a regular flavor next time. The real problem was the beer menu/availability. We keep asking for beers that were on their digital board or on the printed menu- only to be told they were out. I get that you can't print a new menu every day- but the digital board not being updated is a miss. We chose this place because of the beers advertised...and none of them were available. All in all, not our best outing- but with a couple small adjustments, this would be an amazing sports bar. read more

My sister is from Ohio, therefore, an Ohio State fan. She suggested The Brickhouse to watch the game while we were in NC visiting our other sister. What an experience! It was a bit chilly so there weren't many people sitting outdoors but there is outdoor seating. As soon as I entered I realized what my sister meant by saying "it's an Ohio State bar". Eeeevverybody in there was an Ohio State fan. EVERYONE. Seating was first come first serve and hard to come by. We lucked up and ended sitting at what I believe was a covered pool table. We ordered a variety of apps (quesadilla, nachos, a pretzel) and a pizza to share. I found the quesadilla and pizza to be tasty. I came with a big group (~10) on a Saturday for dinner, and we were able to get seated promptly - the space is quite large and there was plenty of outdoor seating for us. I decided to order their Smokehouse Burger, which included bacon, sautéed onion, cheddar cheese, and BBQ sauce, and a side of fries. The burger was nicely cooked (I ordered it medium, which it was), and the bacon / onion / cheese / BBQ sauce combination is a hard one to get wrong. So I didn't have any qualms with the burger. The fries were also quite tasty, with just the right amount of crispiness - not soggy but not too crunchy either. Our group was admittedly large, so the food didn't come out as quickly as I had hoped, but it wasn't too terrible of a wait. The service was friendly. The place was clean, and there is a convenient parking lot in the back. So overall, it was a solid dining experience and I would be willing to come back to try some other items on the menu. read more

The only positive aspect of this dining experience was jokingly singing Brickhouse and the Nc State wolf statues in the front lobby. Otherwise, incredibly disappointing. We started with fried pickles. They were mediocre at best. Very breaded and not crispy at all. My friend and I both got the ultimate grilled cheese. And if by ultimate, they meant ultimately disappointing then sure.... Because this looked like a child made it. No cheese pull. It was dry as a bone. My friends didn't come with the tomato slice as described in the menu. I ended up pulling it apart and eating the bacon separately and eating the cheesiest side of bread as toast. My aunt got the yellowfin tuna wrap and thought it was rather uneventful and flavorless. She said the only flavor it had was from the wasabi and everything else was bland. Only 1/4 of us were not disappointed as she got Cajun dry rub wings and she was satisfied. I did enjoy the pasta salad and my friend enjoyed her chicken n dumplings soup. read more

THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY! The alumni call the Brickhouse home on Saturdays. This place is huge, but come early if you want a great seat! Service has always been amazing and that's crazy considering all the bodies that are stacked all over the place! They cover the pool tables so there is more seating available. The outside seating area is super chill! There is one side that has I think 4 cushioned bench/sofa areas, this side is non-smoking. When you get to the wire tables, that section is smoking. There are a million TVS everywhere, so you cannot sit anywhere without being able to watch the game! I have had the pork potstickers, which are pan fried to perfection and yum, my go to. I had southwest wrap as well and the flavors were super fabulous. This wrap was served with a salad and the creamy balsamic vinaigrette was to die for (thank you to the server who highly recommended it). I realize it is pub food fare, but it definitely stepped up with the flavor. read more

I've only eaten here once but I loved the wings so much I don't know if I'd get anything else even though it looks good and the people I ate with very much enjoyed it. I ordered the enfuego wings and they were perfectly crispy and topped with a very flavorful spicy sauce. I like that you can add a side order of fries($1.50) to your wings. A lot of other places make you order an app size fry for way more than you want to pay. It's a really neat sports bar with a lot of room. They have pool tables and big projection screens going all over the place, even outside, with every game imaginable on. Parking is really good for Hillsborough st. With a covered garage and large lot outside. Jeff, our waiter and MOD was extremely nice and attentive during our lunch. This is one of the places that my coworkers like to go for trivia. The weekly trivia at 8 PM Wednesday is pretty good. The trivia host does a good job and it's a fun time. Though I will say that Jill at House of Hops is much better so I'm not sure if I'll back his claim of being the Triangle's best trivia host :) Also, drink specials are usually pretty good. That's where the positives for BrickHouse ends. The service is beyond horrible. Usually at trivia, only half of the restaurant is full and it will take 30 minutes to even get drinks out to our table. The server doesn't bother to write anything down and gets orders wrong and it takes forever for the food to come out to the table. Nobody checks in on you to see if you need anything. You'll have better luck ordering at the bar if you want another drink. The food is pretty average and isn't anything to write about. read more

Best place in the Triangle to watch sports. Las Vegas sports-book type feel to it with all the huge screens in HD. Food is excellent for a sports bar. Order the southwestern egg rolls. You won't be disappointed. This place was run into the ground when it was Playmakers, but the new owners have done a complete 180. Can't recommend it enough. read more

This place is the worst. I came in last night with a buddy ready to get some food and drinks. While the server was nice enough...I guess....the service was lack luster and the food was horrific. I had the loaded tots and my buddy had the French dip sandwich and we both came to the consensus that the food was way too salty. I would have liked an opportunity to share that with the server, but after she dropped off our food, she didn't come back for a while. Which leads me to my next complaint, we practically did everything but send smoke signals to get her attention to get more beers. At which point we made peace with the overly salted food as we were starving. I ordered shots and was pretty disappointed in the amount. They were legit half shots. This was my very first time going to this restaurant, my brother told me about this place and it's a great spot to catch a game they have nice big screen tvs all over the place and they also have pool tables on one side of the restaurant. Our waiter was Chaz who also happened to be the GM of the place, he was awesome and knowledgeable about the menu and very tentative. I ordered the burger with Beacon cheese fries and my brother got the shrimp po boy with onion rings for our appetizers we got 2 order of wings. Had a marketing social meeting here ... as another reviewer stated, it is great for groups! Long tables are perfect, especially if you're there to watch a sports game. Typical sports bar setting & food items. They have an extensive menu with pizza, appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, wraps, etc. Lots of alcoholic beverages to choose from, too. I had a hard time deciding what to eat. I went with a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich & fries. Since we had a big group, it did take some time for all our food to arrive. I went to Brickhouse to catch the NC State Bowl game and found a packed restaurant with only a few booths available. A sign said to feel free to seat yourself so we did. While the booth couldn't fit my party of 6, but we managed to find a couple standalone spots near the pool tables. To my surprise the service was fantastic! I figured with a full restaurant the service may be slow, but that wasn't the case at all. The server, bar, and kitchen seemed to be harmoniously in sync. We ordered some fried pickles and loaded tater tots, both came out perfect. My buddy ordered the pretzel and loved it as well. The place had a plethora of drink specials both beer and liquor. They serve a wide variety of craft brews and your popular beers too. The place was clean and had a very enjoyable atmosphere. Countless large TVs are everywhere so you can catch the game from anywhere you sit. On one end sit multiple pool tables, and a sizeable outdoor patio is available with TVs for seating during nicer weather. It is family friendly for the most part, on some days they have music and karaoke during late evenings. The Brickhouse is a winner come gamedays and I'll be back! read more

But holy cow, the volume was cranked up to match a concert! When our waitress came to our table, we couldn't hear her. My wife and I are not hard of hearing but the volume of those TVs drove us out of there before we even had a sip of water. We then called our friends and went elsewhere. This is just a typical sports bar type place. The food came pretty quick but it wasn't very flavorful and it was really heavy. Also drinks too an extremely long time. I will say the NC Mule was delicious, why my rating is 3 stars instead of 2.
