Yummy

I haven't been here to eat in awhile. I went through the drive thru and placed my order. They didn't confirm my order which I found odd. I ordered a cheesy sack (10 cheeseburgers), sack of fries and an order of chicken rings. Nothing spectacular cheap food to get rid of the crave.

Long blonde hair! I wish I could post the video

And it will make sense for this story rather quickly Saturday brunch, as I was bound and determined to hit up a -different- location in Hazelwood (I will be polite and not name them but it wont be too hard to figure out) that's actually in a nearby location. I get there after a maze of side-streets (missing my primary turn off), and it's down to parking on NARROW streets. Uhm.. no thanks! I Spend 15 minutes looping around trying to find a spot on the street to park (the parking lot is teeny-tiny and every n, s, e, and w street either if us completely loaded with parked cars or right in front of a driveway (no blocking drives!) So it's time for backup site. And you know sometimes Fate smiles in your direction. I had known that there was a second lunch stop in a similar area, so follow the map again, and find it decently quickly, and surprise. they actually have a good sized PARKING LOT you can use! Welcome to Henkes! And I walk in to a long bar, and a crowded bar. (Wow, 1 in the afternoon and this place is packed!). Patio outside, indoor table... indoor table it is. And even those were nearly full. But the bartendress was over reasonably quick, although she had the same issue most bars here in st. louis have They never answer 'what is the best drink you make'. It's always what they like. Oh well, you can't have them all. (Although i will say I didn't have to ask about the Peanut butter and Jelly shot... You WANT ONE OF THESE! (if you're not allergic to peanuts - or peanut butter whiskey) Drinks came in a little slow (but not terrifyingly so.. did i say this place was packed for lunch on a Saturday?). Ironically, the busboy was over to me to make sure I'd ordered, but was nowhere the conversationalist the bartendress (I need a shorter word for bartendresses!), but don't take it as a negative, at least I know I was being looked after (or watched.. Nah, no paranoia here :) ) Easy to order: Shrimp Po-Boy with a side order of Onion Rings and Loaded Tater Tots (what can I say, I'm a simple man of food choices). Food came out reasonably quick, so I didn't have much time to look around (and most people have gotten decent indoor photos already) I will say (it looks like they're holding out hope that the video machine restriction is lifted back soon (2 video slots machines were listed Out-of-order). Anyway, whenever I had questions the bartendress was willing to give me a minute or two, (too bad they didn't have one of their "swag" in my size though). Although I forgot to ask as they appear to have live music bands on some days.. Where do the musicians fit? This place is a tight squeeze just on Lunch for Saturday! However, we do have to argue one issue with Heinke's and I'm just curious if this has never been brought up before: Asking for the meal with a side dish of Onion rings.. they charged me the sandwich plus an extra $8.95for the all-in-plate. (Yes, that's the only thing I can figure the all-in plate means?) But if i had just asked for the sandwich and a side of onion rings (I get the price of the sandwich + 5.95 for the side order?) Uhm.. Maybe I'm missing something in math class, but I get charged MORE for the same meal? Come on guys. tell me I'm missing something???? (only -star in the entire theme today) Anyway back to the original statement: So the TARDIS had it right. I may not always get where I'm going, but i'm glad I got to go where I needed to be! And if you're smart, you'll go there too! Patio or indoor, totally worth it!

On my home (10PM), I decided that I wanted some comfort food instead of the food I prepared to eat. For me, it would have been a treat for this kinda day. The Good: Order taker was great with suggestions. Greeted and thanked me. The Runner: Caucasian, heavier set lady. Not sure if she is new, but this this is my first time seeing her there( I guess I'm somewhat a regular now) lol. That's bad...but anyways, I digressed. She was not pleasantly looking. Could be she's tired or hurting or don't wanna be there. She asked me "what's the number" (The cashier had already placed it on the rear view mirror where they always do. She took the number off and placed it on the outer portion of the mirror with an attitude stated, "I can't see." She then continue to walk to the other car infront repositioning their number to a different spot. Returning of my food: I stated the number for her to be of help. As she proceeded to hand me the bag, I asked her if there was a staw inside. She didn't even take the chance to look herself but rather stated, "I dont know you can check." Anyhow, I thank her. I didn't get the usual, "my pleasure," that I'm accustomed to, however, she did stated "you are welcome while walking away with her backed turned. Food taste & temp- One of the worst burger I've ever had. Honestly it was disgusting. I am very disappointed that I paid almost $12 dollars for a stale burger & a shake. It was not "made fresh" per there trademark. Wished I didn't stopped this time. It's usually scorching hot where you have to wait to bite into it. Shake: First time ordering a shake. I got the strawberry. It was rich and contained real strawberries chunks? (I think). I finished it on the ride. Hopefully this was an off night for them given the time and it wasn't as many team members working as per usual. We discovered this restaurant after car shopping at some dealerships on Lindbergh. The space offers both indoor and outdoor patio seating as well as a separate bar space. Our server was very friendly and answered any questions we had and was also enthusiastic about our car-buying process, encouraging celebratory drinks. The food was delicious! American fare with a modern twist - Hendel's had lots of brunch and lunch options. I opted for the Salmon Power Bowl and it tasted extremely fresh and healthy. The building does a lot of the work here: an old place sitting in the middle of Old Town Florissant's residential blocks, with a bar, a dining room, a porch, and a patio we didn't get to use (next cool evening, we will). It's charming, and a real asset to that neighborhood. It is also loud. Old plaster, hard surfaces, not enough hung on the walls to absorb any of it. The old fashioned was solid, sweeter than I prefer. Appetizers were the low point: toasted ravioli thick and hard enough to qualify as gum scratchers (filling was fine), flatbread middle of the road. Then the kitchen found its footing. Parmesan-encrusted chicken won the table, with a nice rice-orzo pilaf and green beans that weren't overcooked. The Jameson whiskey burger came blue cheese, bacon, crispy onions, glaze, brioche, and ate dry (although ordered medium): too many rich flavors, nothing acidic to cut through them. Burnt ends mac and cheese was good and rich, but the brisket wasn't tender as I had hoped. We caught a night with only one dessert (a moist Lemon Sunshine cake that tasted like a Dreamsicle) and ice cream to put beside it. Christy took good care of us, efficiently and strictly by the book. 3.7 out of 5 stars Punch up the apps, and bring some balance to some of the entrees and this would bring up my rating to the low 4s. Bring the relatives who flinch at a menu. Acid somewhere on the plate, tender brisket, ice cream by the cake, and something soft on those walls would move this up quickly.

Missed lunch due to work meetings, couldn't' grab anything from the work "break room" cause they hadn't finished stocking it! (Why do all my stories always have a sob-story in them somewhere? RATINGS, that's why of course :) ) So anyway, all the usual fast-food joints are so blase, and I hadn't done a new food site for a while. so it's time, right?? Two birds, one stone. Anyway, I get to the shopping center and completely miss seeing the lit up sign. (Do you know how stupid you have to feel to use google maps to travel the SHOPPING Center parking lot you're in? Yep, that's me!) SO anyway i find the location (even after misreading my GPS... left is left, right is right)., and it's right where the maps said it would be. So in we go.. (hour before closing). And the first thing you notice is the place is _TINY_. I mean yes, they have a couple of tables. but the message is "order your burger" and go home and enjoy it. Ironically, it has some of the "BEST" art in the buildiung since my Amigo Sole visit (See the photos below And speaking of tiny... the Menu: TINY as well. Burger, double burger, triple burger and a couple of specialty sandwiches and a minimum of sides (One strip of lettuce + one tomato slice = another .75c? The owner did say he had a bigger shop with more options.. but again. we're working this "small packages" theme Takes a few minutes to get my Frisco Melt done and the onion rings. (Only 6 onion rings to an order? Ehh.. maybe a little chintzy?). So those don't make it the ride home. But the Frisco Melt, that survives (trust me it's not car-eating food!) and WOW!! 1) It blows away the 'small" theme for the day, 2) Is messy as it can be, and 3) absolutely incredible in taste!
