After a long day of shopping and driving at Birch Run, I was hungry for some food. I had no desire to drive out of my way to eat, and needed gas anyway. So, I pulled off at this exit on the way home and realized, on the way to the gas station, that there was a White Castle. YES! After leaving the gas station, I stopped in for some good old sliders. The place wasn't that busy, which sort of surprised me. How could this be? It was a Saturday afternoon, and barely anyone was in here. Anyway, I placed my order for 4 cheese burgers with a crinkly fry and a drink. I was excited since I don't get to eat White Castle all that often. When the food came out, it wasn't bad, but for a white castle, it was pretty bad. the meat was dry and tasteless, and not as good as it usually is. I guess this is why hardly anyone was here. Pretty bland for a white castle. Being that I was exhausted and starving, I polished off my meal. I wasn't all that impressed with the quality here, and was kind of disappointed. I won't be returning to this particular location due to the lackluster meal I received. Staff was super nice though and my order was ready in record time. Stopped in for the first time a few weeks ago. I managed to get served immediately and received my food in under three minutes. In college, I used to eat a lot of White Castle, but I hadn't revisited any WC location in years, so it was kind of fun to see what this one was like. It was basically like every other WC operation- clean, functional, quick service, tasty little sliders and great fries. My food was hot and tasted good for fast food. For the quality, it was a good value. Three sliders and an order of fries were under $5. Yep, the sliders were tiny, but the order of fries was pretty good for the price. Plus, .99 cent sliders are cheap, quick lunch/pit stop. It filled me up for the afternoon, until I got a chance to have a large dinner. They have black bean veggie sliders now, too, plus fish and a huge breakfast menu. The veggie burger slider wasn't bad, especially with honey mustard sauce. The original WC slider tasted just the same as it always has, even though I wouldn't eat it that often now. It's a White Castle; you either love it or hate it. I happen to love it. I stop by this location occasionally for a crave crate here and there, but I love the Lent special- the crab cake sliders. I honestly didn't think they would be nearly as good as they are, but I make a special trip for them at least once every year. Stopped in to get my fix this year and there was no sauce. Dry crab cake on a dry bun. Instant disappointment. I had to go back through and get the sauce separately. Staff was nice about it and gave me some sauce to go. I stopped in at around 1:50 pm on Friday 05-20-22. The lady who took my order and another lady who was taking food outside to a customer were both very friendly and welcoming. I had really high expectations after watching "Harold and Kumar" ----they swore up and down that these burgers were the bomb. Warm little bun with chopped onions on a slab of beef --- sounds good to me. So I'm a total California girl --- born and raised. We don't have White Castles in California. When I finally got a chance to be in Michigan, I figured, "Holy shit, hubby, take me to a White Castle!!" We get there and they offer several variations of this "mini-gem" ---- we ordered the classic (beef and onions), classic and cheese, classic with jalapenos, and classic with bacon. We waited for a good 6 minutes, because the dumb ass in front of us ordered the whole store. But I'm thinking, "WHATEVER! This is worth the wait --- Harold and Kumar said it was, so it must be true." We finally get our "gems," --- I open up the bag and I am shocked. Harold and Kumar lied to me the whole time ---- my burgers were smashed up, and my buns were drenched in grease. The girl that took our order didn't smile (she actually liked pissed that we disturbed her while she was standing around doing nothing), didn't say hi or anything, she just stood there and stared at us! When we asked if she was ready to take our order she was so rude. We have been here several times and this is how it always is at this store, not sure what is going on with staffing. Now the food....These burgers are meh IF you put cheese on them, but they are greesy nasty little burgers of yuck! I tried the Veggie Slider and that was actually ok (better than the original ones!). I am a White Castle lover through and through. We stopped in for a treat and found the staff to be friendly and the restaurant clean. We usually order the #7 so we get 10 burgers, drinks and fries. We weren't extra hungry so we skipped the cheese sticks. It's a White Castle, you'll either love those tasty little burgers or you'll hate them. The food was fresh and hot, I usually upgrade to a Cherry Crave Cooler instead of getting a pop. Oh my goodness - it is rare that I have food that I absolutely loathe but this is one of those times. I had never been to a White Castle in my life until now - people raved about it, others did the opposite - I wanted to see for myself. Came here with some friends and got the lil burgers. I thought they were cute, but the cuteness hid what truly lurked beneath. I took my first bite and it was terrible - gross consistency, slimy, no real flavor at all. I was very surprised and disappointed - I don't remember if I even finished one. One of my friends loved them, the other did not. I don't know if this was an uncommon, unfortunate occurence or if they really are supposed to be like that. I have not been back since and not sure when I'll return - we'll see. If that is how they're supposed to be, then I guess White Castle is a love/hate thing. Hate to leave a yucky review but that was not a pleasant experience. White Castle, please redeem yourself. The food was hot, fresh and delicious. Have a family of five. Got a case of castle burgers, 2 sacks of fries and a 10 pack of cheese sticks and had food left over after everyone was full. We live in California but are from Flint originally. Naturally, when back to visit the in-laws, I couldn't wait to get my hands on a White Castle slider. I can remember going to Tiger Stadium with my dad as a kid. There was a WC near the gate and we'd grab a sack to go. It was a bit of a disappointment. They didn't taste much better than the frozen ones that we can buy in the supermarket here. Maybe try another location. The in-laws said that they'd had better WCs at other locations. read more

I love this place. By far my favorite "fast food" ever.. I have never actually tried the sliders, I always get the chicken rings and fries. I have been going to this restaurant since they opened. I love how they do the special dinner on Valentines Day and that they have Santa there for pictures before Christmas. We took our daughter there this past winter and had a great experience for her 1st time meeting Santa. I love the food, the staff is always great.. would recommend this place to anyone!- this is where my now husband and I had our first date :D read more
