We dropped in for a late lunch. The shop was clean - we did see a broken egg shell on the floor inside the staff's area, but that didn't make any difference. The tables were clean, the food was served fresh off the grill, and the burgers tasted just like they should - no issues. In contrast to other reviews, the food was cooked fully and we had no issues. read more

A vegan reviewing White Castle! OMG the world is topsy turvey but in a good way. I have to say I previously tried the veggie burger with the different sauces but was skeptical about the ingredients and preparation process. I am sure it was not vegan, more plant based or even vegetarian. Now they have the mini Impossible Burgers for 1.99 each vs a White Castle burger at .77. From what I understand it's not vegan it's "plant based" the difference being it is all made of non-animal products including the bun and the onions are made on a separate grill with the Impossible burger but there is some ingredient in the Impossible Burger that was tested on animals so it can not be called vegan. It's all about how deep you go on the vegan definition spectrum. Anyway.. had it, late night after a few cocktails on the Irish Mile, (had to get the full experience!), did not taste like a whitey one bite as I recall, tasted like a mini burger! Which is totally fine and all good for me. It was moist and yummy and just what the doctor DID NOT order! There was a little confusion with the order at the takeout window but that is to be expected with something totally new with a new process and all. Us vegans are patient considering it's all great news to see advancement in the life style. Just make sure you say no cheese and you need to ask for ketchup and mustard. Extra pickles would be good too! Whether you are plant based or vegan it's another option. It just goes to show the world is changing in some ways for the better. This is one of them. Upon my visit to this location, I placed an order of onion rings. The onion rings were stale, hard, burnt and not edible. One would hope that the employees are trained better than to serve such poor quality of food. I would have taken them back, but my gas and mileage wasn't worth it. Good location, been going here since I was a kid besides the White Castle in Oaklawn (along with my mother and friends like Danny and Johnny, etc.) The service is good, fast, staff is friendly and the food is good as well, the restaurant is clean and the prices are cheap. So I stop at this White houses this morning about 3:00 AM this place is very rude and very unprofessional not only did we sit in the drive-through for an hour waiting for people to order but when I finally got up to the window to order the young lady walks up to me and tells me $10.95 I asked her what was that for because I ordered two double meals so I'm sure is way more than $10 she proceeded to tell me that oh slam the window and walk away. She returns back to the window and finally tell me my correct order I asked her if she can make sure my order was correct and she said yes correct I informed her to make sure that the order was correct because this was for a pregnant woman and she proceeded to tell me that she would not feed a pregnant woman this garbage at that point I understood what she was telling me which means that that was garbage that she was about to serve so I decided not to take the order. Came to this location while on VACAY in Chicago and order several double cheeseburgers with sides of chicken rings. The service was great as the window attendee had excellent customer service but the overall taste of the food was off. The buns felt hard and you could hardly taste that timeless white castle onion steamed taste. Anyway, I don't blame this on the location but I definitely blame it on the franchise as I've heard that White Castle doesn't taste the same anymore. read more

This place has turned service into a joke. When I ordered twenty burgers I stated put everything on them. The last three times I have done this, the staff put a pickle on the sandwiches. This time, I caught them doing this and the staff took back the food and put ketchup and mustard on half the burgers (as if I wouldn't notice on the others.) I ordered an extra large french fry and the cashier would not make it part of my order until I told her, "maam, I can afford the three dollars, it's ok." The slow service of this place is known throughout the area. Why the proprietors don't do a quality and efficiency check of their staff is beyond rational thinking. I don't like giving out one-star reviews as I've worked in the restaurant industry and I understand how negative reviews can hurt a business and, its employees but this one deserves it. I ordered a 6 piece chicken ring meal, after having to wait over 20 minutes in line, I was the only one in line. They had 5 employees but only 3 were working. When I got my meal it was terrible, the fries were a combination of soggy and burnt, the chicken rings were so undercooked they were raw. I had to heat them up in the oven to finish what they couldn't do in the frier. The store looked like they hadn't cleaned it since Jesus was a child it was a rite mess with old rotten food smushed into the floor and on dirty rags on the counters, the employees didn't bother to remove the gloves so your bag was a greasy mess from the gloves that they clearly didn't change. Terrible!!! I got food poisoning from eating their chicken ring 2 years ago and never went back. 1 year later my grandma got the same thing from eating chicken rings. My mom called the place and the lady was so rude who answered the phone. She said that she eats them everyday and she doesn't get sick. The food was fine, but I personally have a problem when an employee waiting on customer in the drive thru window doesn't have the common courtesy after being paid for an order to say a simple "thank you." And of course this applies to anyone going inside too. And a business will wonder why they go out of business because the consumer readily can see the difference in manner treated at other establishments. Also, they need clean up garbage bags surrounding the driveup window. read more

If I could have not given any stars at all, that would have described the service at this location. I stop there one morning on my way to work to get a breakfast sandwich on a bun. I went through the drive through. I felt the bun as I was pulling off and of course it was hard as a brick. I went in to get a refund. So I decided to give them one more chance last night which was Friday 3/9/2018 after work around 10:05. I went to the drive thru to order a fish with cheese. I felt the bun again once I pulled off, again it was hard as a brick. I walked in to let them know and stated I did not want another fish, just give me a cheeseburger. The manager just looked at me and continue making other orders. I waited 5 minutes and stated, just give me a refund. Again, he totally ignored me until I said, well how long is this going to take, I have to go to work early the next morning. He still took his time. I did not leave the store until 10:30. This location needs to close down if they are not selling quality food and they need to get rid of the manager on duty Friday evening. I used to be a manager and that is not the way you deal with customers. He never apologized or said thank you the entire time, even when he was giving me my money back.
