All non-fast-food restaurants in Cape Girardeau close by 9pm leaving few options for us gremlins. We ordered one of every kind of slider. We waited over 30 minutes for our order. The only one that was vaguely edible was the 1921 slider which came with a scrap of lettuce and a slice of tomato which balanced the salt of the patty. Tried the new crispy chicken slider. Had to wait for to be made. Which usually means it's going to be really good, but it was way overcooked. Extremely dark exterior, in the interior consistency of jerky. One sandwich had about a nickel size dollop of the sauce on it, and the other one had about a dime size amount. The fries were warm, but soggy. But the three sips of soda had plenty of ice. read more

I sure Love me some White Castle but God damn, man, what a real time commitment, about half an hour, though totally worth it. Kids working the drive thru were positive and friendly and expeditious enough, despite the pressure of the line and other upset customers. First time having White Castle. We were traveling to MO from New Orleans. They were good. I didn't like the fact that they do not add mustard. They give it to you in a bag for you to put it in yourself. The girl straight said they didn't have time to add mustard. My husband liked that they had different cheeses to put on them. I also wasn't a fan of how big the onions were cut and they did not stay together very well. Onions were all over the place. Probably would not go out of my way to eat at one again. But would go back if that was what my family wanted to eat. read more

Haven't eaten here in years. I'm a breakfast person. I have to eat in the morning. I was busy out working and I guess their relatively new breakfast advertising got the best of me. I went through the drive through and ordered a little combo. Two sausage egg and cheese sandwiches, potatoes and coffee. A little more expensive than I thought it would be but still in line with other fast food breakfast places. I think it was actually made fresh. I like the fact that on the little sandwich they actually fry a whole egg and put on it. Not sure you can get this anywhere else in fast food. Passing through town and went through the drive-thru tonight. Food was hot and delicious. Employee was patient and friendly (and he was wearing a mask). Fries were hot and crispy too - St. Louis White Castle fries are always soggy., but the fries here were really good!! Kudos to this location for doing everything right. read more

We ordered: 3 chicken breast with cheese sandwiches, 1 small french fries, 1 small onion rings, 1 chocolate shake and 1 water for here. Was at White Castle in Cape Girardeau on Wednesday August 5, 2015 at 6:45pm. The drive-thru line was out to the road. Decided that's fine, we'll eat inside anyway. Drove around the building, parked, and went up to the door only to find it locked with a note saying "Closed due to cleaning". All the lights were on, the tv's were on and NO CLEANING was taking place. I looked around the parking lot and it appeared only 2 employee vehicles were there. I honestly feel they closed the lobby because they were short-handed, not because they were "cleaning". Besides, why would they close the lobby during peek hours for cleaning? Again, seems like a staffing problem to me. Went somewhere else that wanted my business. read more

I don't normally review fast food restaurants, but this one deserves to have a good one for their outstanding, friendly service. I don't expect good service any more at fast food places. Both times I have been to this location, they have not shown any agitation toward abnormal requests, and actually smiled. I also watched a customer accidentally spill their fries on the floor, and a young man behind the counter told her it was okay, and to not worry about it, he would clean it up, after giving her a new batch of fries. This is where you go when your in a hurry and want some sliders. I ate at this place a few dozen times when in the area the service is pretty good. I personally preferred Lyon's choice (Roast beef place) before it was converted over to White Castle but thats another story. This place is always busy so it must be doing good. I was raised on these sliders not bad but if you are new to them might want to have a few Tums on hand just in case as the grease/ onions can be brutal at times especially late night. They are addictive as their shakes and fries overall not a bad place for your buck. Probably not the healthiest but what else is new? Give em a try. read more

I arrived at this White Castle location on Friday afternoon, 06/30/17, at around 2:40PM, looking forward to the yummy goodness that is the White Castle slider. As soon as I opened the door of my truck, the problems began, and they persisted until I left. The whole parking lot of this restaurant smelled just like a barnyard. Quite literally like crap. I'm not sure if a livestock yard has moved into the neighborhood, or what the source of this stench could have been. I went inside and placed and paid for my order, then headed to the men's room. The men's room was dirty, trash on the floor, dirty fixtures. But at least it smelled better than that parking lot. I headed to the dining room to wait for my order. The dining room was also dirty, drips and crumbs on tables, spills and trash on the floor. The refrigerated case between the two cash registers was empty and out of service. This is a relatively new restaurant, replacing the original White Castle that once stood on this property, but it is not properly maintained, and is seemingly being allowed to become a real dump. Not that the old one was some kinda palace, but it, in my experience, was far and away better than this joint. The wait was pretty long for one diner in the restaurant ahead of me. I finally got my order and checked it out, only to find that the heels of the buns were soaking wet. So wet, that water was soaking from the buns into the cardboard containers. Gross. The whole experience can be summed up in that one word. The staff weren't impolite, but weren't especially friendly either, and they sure didn't seem very interested in keeping their restaurant clean, or in turning out a properly executed, quality product.
