This White Castle been around for years. This location has a drive through and parking available. Burgers are always made to order and the cheese fries are the best around. Service is a hit a miss depending on who working. There might be a line in the drive through during peak hours but most definitely worth the wait. I don't usually leave reviews, but the customer service today was unacceptable. A male staff member was incredibly rude and dismissive--no patience, and an overall bad attitude that made the entire experience distasteful . If you're working in customer service, especially in food, basic respect and courtesy should come standard. I won't be ordering from this location anytime soon.Fast food is fast, but it doesn't have to be disrespectful. Management, please do better with your hiring and training. I never thought a simple request of wanting the cheese on the side as opposed to on my fries would have warranted such a bad attitude. The only issue with getting my food is the mobile app relying on "scheduled times" and scheduled times ONLY. Picking up the food required more interaction than most places. Otherwise both the egg sliders+hash brown nibblers and original sliders+cheese rings were good and STEAMING HOT FRESH (!!!). The time from order to receiving food is slower compared to other places but getting something that was obviously just made (and at a price that is actually cheap) more than makes up for it. So I'm coming out of my Yelp Retirement to write this review for this particular White Castle. I came here for Valentine's Day because I requested that Bae take me there. I'm not fond of the Hallmark holiday because there's no point in marking things up five times as much, restaurants being crowded and a madhouse. Not the case here!!!! We were able to make reservations the day of, everything was orderly, we were seated immediately even though we arrived early and the place was nicely decorated with decor. It was super cute and cheesy but in a good way. There's table service here on Valentine's Day and they offer a Valentine's Day combo menu and bring everything to you. A waiter at a fast food restaurant, dreams do come true!!! Anyways, I'm also vegan so I ordered the Impossible Burger with no cheese. It was delicious, service was great and fellas...you now have a year to plan ahead. And if she don't like White Castle, she's probably not the one. read more

We are talking about WHITE CASTLE. Best tiny burgers ever. The last time I was at this particular white castle, Big Daddy Kane released his first album. I'm talking way back fam. I took my wife and daughter here after our Bronx Zoo adventure. (It appears that it was also the day I missed my cousin's engagement party...I'm sorry Tracey!!!) So, we are in the castle and my wife is "a little" upset that we can't get milk for the baby. Their English/Spanish menu has milk on it. Yet, they don't have any. The cashier told us they NEVER have milk. Right now, the only liquid our baby wants to drink is milk. I assure the wife it's no big deal but IT IS. I took the 2 stars off, because of the milk scenario. (There were 2 other things we asked for that was on the menu that they didn't have.) There also was no high chair (this started an "interesting" conversation aka argument after my famous "High chair? Baby, this ain't Applebee's" statement.) It's the boogie down and it's white castle...the wife is stressing about high chairs & milk? I understand that she was really tired. There were also 2 different cats, a brotha and a Chinese dude, 7 minutes apart, selling bootleg DVDs. Damn, they come in waves at this spot. What can I say about White Castle - I think everyone has tried them at least once in there lifetime. Back in the day we would call the murder burgers because they would murder your stomach afterwards..... This white castle here on Fordham Road in the Bronx is classic, it has been here for decades now. Not much has changed other then the menu and the prices of course. They still are murder on your stomach and the prices are murder on your pocket... LOL.... They are still tasty and filling and you can smell them from blocks away. They are open 24 hours a day seven days a week so you can get your fix at anytime you desire the crave.... Service has improved as now they call you by name when your food is ready and they gave the place a makeover so it feels better when you walk in. I would love to say it's budget food, but the prices really do not reflect a budget so be prepared to spend more then you're used to. I personally go for the Grilled Chicken sliders these days over the burgers - just a bit healthier. Love the crinkle fries but there shakes require a serious sucker to pull from them as they are super thick - did I mention SUPER thick.... Overall there not bad - just not the greatest thing either..... For me they are nostalgic!!! read more

This White Castle is near and dear to my heart as it's provided numerous late night meals to satisfy my drunken, college student cravings. (I went to Fordham U. which is across the street) This is also the very first location where I've ever had White Castle. I've been hooked ever since. I still took stars off for... 1) Bums that hang out and harass the patrons for money. Take out the college kids, the crowd are all locals (duh) and they're all kind of scary. I've never seen families come here. It's all punk kids, scary groups of guys, etc. 2) Not clean at all. Bathrooms, seats, etc. - The staff almost never comes out from behind the bulletproof glass to clean. In fairness though, I know we college kids didn't help either. It was open 24 hours and we abused it by stumbling in drunk and loud at 3am and throwing up all over the place. This is why now they're not open 24 hours anymore. Their drive-through is, but not their dine-in section. The staff probably got tired of the fights, drunkenness, muggings, etc that would always happen. 3) One last thing, Myself along with other hungry college kids have already tried walking up to the drive through window, ordering food, standing in line.. basically ordering drive-thru minus the car and they refuse to give food. I even knocked on the window (yes I was that desperate) and everything but they said I needed a car. I don't think this is fair at all, you should be able to get food even if you are walking up to the drive through window. I mean people who walk up pose less of a "drive-by shooting" threat than those patrons in actual cars. I don't get it. Whatever. read more

I also remember the vast amount of certifiably insane people that would frequent this establishment (not counting the co-eds), and two people vomiting all over the tables in there and walking out. First of all i would eat here often because it was convenient. The food was never good and really couldn't understand why at times during the day or night the burgers tasted like they were microwaved and reheated and old. Well, i came to find out why i had these bad burgers and it was that the management really just doesnt care about customers. I parked in white castle and walked across the street to use the ATM to get cash as i was going to buy something with cash to see if i had enough money to eat and buy the thing which i was driving to after white castle. I walked from my car with my white castle soda from earlier that day and went to the ATM by the time i was out...like 4 minutes i was hooked up to a tow truck. They must have a spotter in the parking lot for anyone even customers who walked off the property for a minute or two. As i was walking back with the total of 80 dollars i was able to tale out going to eat at white castle the tow truck operator told me it would be 136.00 dollars to unhook. Which im sure that the white castle gers part of. The driver told me he went in and asked if anyone owed the car which is doubtful. When i asked the manager about the scam she told me you can use your cc inside. But the problem is they dont have an ATM in the white castle. They could care less about their customers, hey if you could hook up 5 people a day and get 40 bucks it supplements your payroll why not roll your customers for the extra cash? I asked her why she didnt ask them not to hook someone up after a few minutes or for for walking to the only ATM fashing in your face and the basic answer was like they have no control over the tow truck company. A total lie. Which again showed me that they just dont give a crap about the customers. oh well, if a real customer has to pay , thats life.. I indicated at the window that I had an online order and made a small purchase. I got to the window at 6:40pm. None of my order was ready! I waited until 7:10pm for my items. I'm thinking about coming to Fordham University for Grad school so I decided to check it out. I love the Bronx because the gritty reputation is greatly exaggerated and it turns out the people are extremely helpful and nice. I stopped in at this White Castle and must say the tiny burgers are some of the best I have ever had. I thought it couldn't be that much different from Krystal burgers, but they were. This White Castle location is ok, the food is good. Very basic order format, hardly no interaction between staff and guess which is bad since I've work in food service and that is the most important connection to have in this field of work. The bathroom are so dirty and smelly I wouldn't even recommend even giving it a thought to sit or stand in front of one their toilets. And also lots of drug deals and other shady stuff goes on in the customer seating area which is definitely scary and a bad rep in general. This place definitely needs a new look for sure. read more

As I'm sure many others have done, I decided to try White Castle based upon the Harold and Kumar movie. I went with a group of friends after a day at the zoo and this location was the closest one. I ordered 6 white castles, 2 jalapeno cheese burgers, and 2 bacon cheeseburgers. I was starving and thoroughly enjoyed the first two bite size burgers. It quickly went downhill from there as flashes of shake shack, five guys, and five napkin burger experiences brought me back to the reality of how mediocre these little white castles were. All in all I spent $9 bucks here and I could have had a shake shack burger or a full blown meal at five guys for the same price...heck I would have even traded for half a five napkin burger. read more

I had one bite out of this and left it all even the fries. So much advertisement and fuzz about this place and even mcdonalds which I abhor is better than them... As far as White Castle goes this place isn't terrible. It's open late at night and that's about it's best quality. The Moz sticks are surprisingly delicious, though for any of the food to actually taste good, you do need some sort of outside influence. i did not grow up in the belmont section of the bronx which has arthur ave , fordam uni, roosevelt high , all nearby but i did have friends who did live in the belmont section and the local white castle was the place to go and hang out . its been a long time since my last visit and to be honest it was during my high school years and besides the upgraded interior not much has changed including the small parking lot . stopped by on a sunday early afternoon with a childhood friend who as soon as the dallas police dept hired him ran out of nyc fasting then a speeding bullet . plenty of seating inside its spacious layout and we went oldschool and skipped the veggie , fish , chicken sliders and went with a bunch of classic white castles , fries , onion rings and those yummy milkshakes . you can call them murder burgers , castle xlax, tummy bangers , etc but for andre and sadri its a part of our youth that we wouldnt change for anything . keep it oldschool and skip the drive thru and order inside just like the good old days . no more outside seating where the local oldtimers would spend hours with their 25 cents cup of coffee. one thing that has not changed is when you order be prepared to wait a while for your food to be ready . plenty of college kids from fordham uni , old timers and parents with their kids just like i remembered many moons ago . thanks white castle for the memories and tummy grumble rumble. read more

Very pleased to see that service to the "newly constructed" WC is up to par. I was asked my name upon ordering and it made me feel individual. Looking in depth at the new and ever changing (subtly) menu makes me want to come back. I had originally came in for a fish and fries combo, but got sidetracked by their new crab sandwhich and shrimp nibblers. The sauce on the sandwhich was amazing. I had to pee really badly, and this seemed like a clean place to go to in the bronx. I ran in, I asked where was the bathroom. The cashier said something in a really thick newyorker accent. I couldn't comprehend what he was saying and I felt really bad. He pointed instead and I finally decifered his code, he was saying "It's behind you". I think when I went in I was so blinded how white and clean the place was, I couldn't see anything but white. Anyways, I didn't get to buy white castle, but a friend of my bf's did. When I tried it...being hungry it satisfied me, other than that....It tasted like a mushy burger with imitation beef and some gooey cheese and a tiny bit of onions. I have been going to this White Castle location since I first discovered it after moving to the Bronx in late 1973. While this is the second building that has occupied this site, it has always been a great place to grab a late night meal of burgers, fries and onion rings. The food is fresh, always tastes good and the staff they hire both professional and friendly despite a number of the challenges they face while working there. While there are occasionally people in there that might ask you for money, the more annoying of the patrons are the drunken, often underage, Fordham University "students" who come in, stumble around and carouse like louts, secure in the knowledge mommy and daddy are out there to pay for all their needs. As other reviewers below have mentioned, ironically enough some of these former college alumni, this type of behavior is what caused this location to close at midnight, which has been an inconvenience to those of us who live in this neighborhood and had grown accustomed to the later late night hours. Even so, avoid these inconsiderate idiots and you'll be glad you went there. read more
