Now given the name "Prohibition," I half expected someone to knock on the door and ask for a secret password like it was 1927. Back in those days, enjoying a drink required secrecy, dim lights, and maybe a jazz band playing in the corner. Today, things are a little easier... though for this non-drinker, my order was simple: water on the rocks, hold the lemon. I prefer my water about 100 proof for maximum flavor. My boss and coworker grabbed seats at the bar while we looked over the menu. We kicked things off with the Pork Belly Burnt Ends and the Pork Bao Buns. Let me tell you, those Pork Belly Burnt Ends were an absolute masterpiece. They came out crisp and seasoned just right with a little spicy kick. Served with raw carrots, homemade pickles, and lettuce wraps to bundle those little jewels together--downright tasty. If food had a Hall of Fame, these would already have a plaque on the wall. The Pork Bao Buns were good as well, but they simply couldn't match the grand slam the Pork Belly Burnt Ends delivered. For my main course, I ordered the Smoked Wangs with the Jala Mango seasoning and a side salad. The wings were delicious--cooked and seasoned to perfection. Every bite was solid. No bootlegging required. Prohibition definitely hit it out of the park today. Between the great food, the great service, and the fun atmosphere near the ballpark, this place is a must-stop for locals or anyone just passing through Madison. Our waitress tried pretty hard to convince us to order dessert, so I'm guessing their sweets are just as flavorful as everything else on the menu. The only problem I had today? I couldn't finish my meal. I was absolutely stuffed. If this had been the 1920s, the only crime committed here would've been leaving food on the plate. Great food. Great service. Absolutely loved and devoured these. The crunch on the croquette was to die for, topped with a refreshing crab salad, perfect. For my entree, I had the lamb rack with house potatoes & broccolini. My boyfriend had the blackened catfish with the grits. Both dishes were phenomenal . To finish up we tried their new chocolate strawberry bread pudding, so rich and delicious.
