Mike S. summed up OTC shoppe in his review - good job Mike! Bohemian and hippie-esque has always…read morebeen OTC's vibe. Getting new tires in Athens the other week, I (sadly) noticed an obituary on their bulletin board for Cheryl Prince Sendowski who owned the coffee shoppe from 1998 until it was sold in 2013. This was one spot my Birthday Club group met at in the late 80s and early 90s. We enjoyed their simplistic sandwiches and iced teas. I'm not a coffee snob by any stretch, and their coffee doesn't evoke great memories for me; however, I do recall it being "fair trade," even back then. The sandwiches were good, the place was nice to relax in, and the back patio was even more eclectic with various statuary and just "stuff" hanging from the fence. Sandwiches were nothing you can't make at home, but they were good, edible, quick and filling! The community bulletin board was always clustered with fliers and business cards for music lessons, missing pets, and pressure washers. It's a local's place for locals and had one regular, Mike Maples who was conferred with the title "Mayor" of Ole Town Coffee. The gazebo out front is quaint to sit in. Do know parking is tight. There aren't many spaces out front to park. I think the back alley may have some spots. For a slice of Huntsville, I would recommend visiting OTC!

Parking was a little tough to find. It looks like there are only a few spots too so I can't imagine…read morea lot of people being able to be here at a time. There's more outdoor seating than indoor seating. Prices seem relatively cheaper than other coffee places I've been to in town. I ended up ordering a bagel with strawberry cream cheese and a plain latte with oat milk. The strawberry cream cheese was served in a plastic container, and seemed different from store bought cream cheese. It had a date of 1-12, but still seemed weirdly dried on the outside. Anyways, the bagel was good. The latte was just okay. Nothing special. Not sure if people order any different drinks while they're here, but I'm definitely tempted to come back and try some of the teas they have.

Visiting HSV for three days, staying near the Arsenal gate 1. The AirBnB fibbed to us, saying the…read moreplace had a drip coffeemaker, which it did NOT. So at 8 each of three mornings, I'm making a trek to each of three local coffee spots and will compare them. We do drip, so can't say anything about espresso brews or cold whatevers. Gold Sprint is first. It's at Lowe Mill, and looks, acts, and tastes like it: pretty artsy-ferny-handmade place with strong!, unusual, yet flavorful coffee served by eclectic and intense baristas. The store is clean, busy and comfortable. There are no stoppers for the go cup lids, so recommend either ordering "with room" or snagging an extra napkin to sop up spillage from your center console. The weekday I went they had a small selection of pastries as well. Gotta say the blueberry scones were about the best I've had outside the UK. Get that! Two 16-ounce coffees, two pastries, and a generous tip came to $20. Not bad. Quick comparison: Angel's Island had less interesting yet still strong and delicious brew, a more standard but much smaller inside space, ordinary-people baristas, a larger selection of good but not excellent pastries, and a drive-through. $20 for two 20-ounce cups and two pastries. And plugs for the cup lids so no slosh spillage. Clearly designed for the drive-by morning commuter, where Gold Sprint is aiming to capture your coffee-drinking butt for a little more time. Go to either one. You will be happy.

Parking is easy, the space is cute with plenty of seating, wifi works well, prices are comparable to other coffee shops in the area. Things I tried: El Camino Latte - the habanero syrup adds a nice wake up to the senses Lavender + Honey Latte - One of my favs. I got this one iced and it was simply refreshing. Cloudburst Latte - Had this both hot and iced. My preference is hot. I feel like you taste the bergamot, vanilla and coconut better. Cold seems more one note to me. Signature Matcha - To the point. Nothing to go crazy over. Had iced. Apricot and oat matcha - Preferred this one over the sig. Had iced. Service has been great for me each time. The space provided a nice work area. Busy spot without feeling too crowded.

This is just for the bagels. The good Parking is plentiful and easy in and out. The bagels were…read morepretty good you can tell they were prepared in the traditional boiled manner that results in the chewy outside texture. And they offer just enough Schmear as an extra and will toast it for you. It is a quaint place that offers a place to hang out for a while. The staff was cordial not overly friendly and seemed really focused on the tasks at hand. I would have liked to have had a better breakfast bagel sandwich selection as that is what I was looking for but most of the offerings were on toasted bread.

I still like this place and have even gotten "real food" there…read more Pros: Staff are friendly! They nicely ground the bag of (overpriced) coffee I bought with zero complaints. The breakfast sandwiches and BLT are decently executed, but I'm REALLY not a fan of their bagels. Their bread (particularly the baguette) is fantastic, though. Note: it sells out quickly. You can still pick up your to-go order without having to deal with people. They now have a cute bookshop inside. They make their own cream cheese! Cons: If I'm paying $1.50 for an avocado add on, PLEASE don't let it be oxidized and brown and gross. This makes me sad. Parking is still a nightmare. See above about the bagels. I'm prepared for the hate I'm about to get, but I prefer Bruegger's...which is sad, as I'm sure they're produced and come in frozen. Prices have gone up, but that's to be expected. I would love, however, the option to not add on a side for less moolah. I don't want their straight from the bag chips, random baby carrots, or (somewhat icky) fruit. Depending on the timing, you may be able to get a seat. Or you may be fighting a soccer mom with 4 screaming toddlers just to pick up a to go order. Still a fan, but know what you're getting.
