This review is for their service department. I was going to an independent shop for several years and then realized that their charges were sometimes higher than the dealership. The service department here is efficient and easy to work with. They provide me a *nice* loaner if my car has to be there even for a few hours. Recently they've begun supplying videos from under the hood and under the body to point out whatever they're seeing. I like this transparency. Last time I picked up my car at the end of the day and took off. My phone rang a couple minutes later; the service tech let me know that I'd left my backpack behind. He waited past closing time for me to get back and retrieve it. Nice service! read more

Had an Acura hybrid that was throwing many warning lights. I knew this was going to be a difficult fix, and felt a dealer would have the insight to fix the problem. My initial call to White Bear Acura was they were very backed up and couldn't get me in for a few weeks. When I did, they said they might not be able to look at it for a few days because they were backed up. I was going to get a loaner car, so not a big problem. Upon checking me in, they noticed my car mileage and quickly pointed out an expensive service that was coming up. My thought was thanks, but let's stick to my immediate problem before pointing out other things that were coming in the future. Onto the repair. They replaced a component and said it corrected the issue with the warning messages I was getting. Several hundred dollars later, and a few days, I left with my vehicle. Five days after that the warning lights came back. I called White Bear Acura and of course they needed the car back. Upon arrival they went into all the charges there would be for checking vehicle codes and any potential work they might need to do. Needless to say, I was not happy and stated they needed to review their work, first, before any charges incurred. I had to ask for the service manager. I was told he worked at three different locations and they were not sure if he was in. I just stood there in silence and not signing anything authorizing work to be done and she finally got the message and called the service manager and told me they would check the codes for "no charge" but if they were different, they would need to charge me to deal with any additional codes. When drove Away from White Bear Acura in my second loaner car in as many weeks, I knew I was in the wrong place. I promptly found a different service shop and came back and took my car to the location. Long story short, if you want to pay top dollar for mediocre service, White Bear Acura is your place. Additionally, if you want to feel second rate and dirty from all the propaganda you encounter when you leave there, White Bear Acura is your place. I will never go there again. Also, the shop I eventually went to, fixed my car and it still is working great. One of the things they found, was that the technician at White Bear Acura did not install the part correctly and it was contributing to my problem. There was another issue they fixed, but I have no idea how much it would have cost me at White Bear Acura, but it was $200 at my new "go to" repair shop. read more

Pros: everyone was very friendly, and the purchasing process was pretty smooth. Cons: I said I was interested in doing a pre-purchase inspection, and was given a checklist showing me that it was already inspected and everything was good to go! I still brought it in for a pre-purchased inspection, and found that there were several things that needed to be repaired, including dirty filters (why would you sell a car with dirty filters?! ). The mechanic wasn't able to check the brakes because the car didn't come with the special key needed to take the tires off, so the dealer never even checked the brakes, even though they said they did! Told the service department not to perform any repairs before discussion since it is an older car. The week before it was in and they said it just needed an oil change and a part removed from the bottom for a total charge of $92. 5 days later it was in to have something else looked at and they now said it needed $3,000 of repairs. They did $200 of work without asking which is a waste of money since we aren't going to put $3,000 into a car worth $5,000. Terrible communication. read more

I was in the market for a luxury compact crossover and started here, with the intention of working my way down the street to test a few models. From the start, David asked questions to find what would work best for me. I felt like I was being listened to instead of hearing monologues about the cars. After getting the price sheet and preparing to move to the next dealership, I ultimately decided not to leave and purchased the car that met my needs. I took advantage of the 5 day 500 mile guarantee, the company cashed my cashier check for $3100 within a day or two of buying the car but I had to wait 9 Business days and I had to tell them I was going to get a lawyer then I get a reply that I could come pick up my refund the same day within 2 hours. So they had their car and resold it before I got my money. I'm sure that's not how the guarantee work. Never take a Cashier check to this location make sure you use your bank checks. Bad customer service, they lied multiple times, hid my yelp review from yesterday and the manager tried to get me to change my yelp review. Go to a different Luther Branch. I dealt with Mark Samuelson so rude and the Manager Ronald or Ronnie. They both need customer service training. read more

We like our car pretty good. But wow! they don't answer the phone there and even the chat room gets ignored. The car runs good. We did have to return it 3 times for bad tire pressure gauge. And dead blinker bulp that were under the 30 day warentee but getting a live human on the phone was back breaking labor. I did have the AC serviced at another service station and had them check the shocks because the ride was very jarring. This station said the back shocks were shot. So I took the invoice to White Bear Acura and they said they would not cover this under the 30 day warranty because it wasn't a safety issue. So don't be fooled by the 30 day warranty. It only covers issues of safety. 35 days after the purchase now and still dont have plates or even the temp plate sticker for the back window. We like the KIA fine after I put $630 of our own money into a car that was inside the 30 day warranty. I probably wont buy from White Bear Acura again and advise look elsewhere. read more

This is the best dealership I have ever been to. I would highly recommend them to everyone. From beginning to end everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We were immediately helped with a smile. We worked with Julis and Pía. They both were so nice and helpful. Pía made everything so simple and easy to understand. He laid everything out was honest and down to earth. Nothing like what a typical dealership manager is. I never once felt uncomfortable he was so kind and funny. Truly made things easy and enjoyable. He explained everything so well. Brought my 19 year old son here to buy his first "nice" car. After getting approved for a loan with a high down payment due to no credit he settled on a 2012 VW Tiguan with 77,000 miles. We were told it would not come with a warranty and he couldn't afford to purchase one. Drove nice for one week. Check engine light and EPC light came on. Wouldn't even have the decency to look at it to see if it's a problem they should have caught before selling. Then we found the original sales documents in the glove box showing they were offering a "dealer warranty" at some point. Makes us wonder when and why they pulled those off of the window and made him sign the "as is" document instead. We will never do business with them again. And I will be telling everyone I know how this big name dealership sold us a car in unsatisfactory condition, in what seems to have been a very shady business transaction. read more

Knowingly sold me used car with cigarette smoke damage. An honest dealership should never accept a trade-in that has been smoked in and try to sell it as a non-smoking car. If they do, they should have a disclaimer, offer a discount. My used car was owned by heavy cigarette smokers. My advice: if you are concerned about previous ownership, GET IT IN WRITING. I bought my car June 2019 and it still smells like cigarettes. They managed to conceal that by detailing it twice before I bought it. After I took it back, and the first attempt to fix failed, I asked for a partial refund. I had to move from three times in four year due to secondhand smoke in nonsmoking apartment communities. This is a health issue for me. It has been a struggle. The owners manual even reeks of cigarettes, and it was kept in the glove compartment in a vinyl manual holder. The first time I opened it the manual in my house the paper smelled like cigarette smoke.I keep the manual in my basement. I haven't gone back after second effort to deodorize my car wore off. I am disgusted. They should give me a partial refund, or free oil changes. Even $1000 would help considering it's a car I paid $15K for. I recently purchased a 2016 Acura RDX from these folk, and rather enjoyed the experience. Having whittled down the list of vehicles I was interested in, I ended up visiting this dealership four times, two involving a test drive (one of those fairly lengthy). On all occasions I was approached by salespersons and asked if I had any questions; at no time did I ever feel "hounded." The facility is not large, but comfortable. I visited the service area and found it clean and organized. While negotiating price, I was pleased at the speed with which the salesman, his manager, and I agreed on the price. I've done this before numerous times, and this time was the least painful. I entered the discussion knowing my "bottom line," and we ended up right where I was comfortable, including the value of a trade-in. I saw a car online I was interested in. Because they didn't have any pictures online I decided to make the journey from Edina to White Bear Lake just to look at the car. I didn't call ahead thinking they would have the car washed, polished and shined up sitting on the lot waiting for some lucky buyer to take her home. When we arrived I told them what I was looking for and was handed off to a used car "specialist" who proceeded to tell me, "We don't have it here. One of our associates is driving it and they aren't in today." So, that was a waste of my time. This guy wasn't interested in helping us one bit. I was interested in the car at the price online with the mileage stated... not after some associate gets to drive it around for their pleasure. I guess it's my fault for not seeing if they had it before coming up here. When I said I was then looking at another model, a different guy stepped up to help. He was helpful and informative and unfortunately rode with us when test driving the car. Honestly, I am less likely to buy a car when someone rides with me. I understand they have policies and what not, but I don't get to experience the car as if it were mine when a salesperson is with. When I told him I bought my other Acura at another dealership he talked very negatively about the other dealership as if I made the biggest mistake of my life. I am very particular when it comes to my cars and it was very obvious he was judging me on my desire for specific options, colors and wheels. Why... I don't really care why but I'm guessing it was because they didn't have it in stock to sell me that day. He was less than enthused to help after finding out I wasn't buying a car that day. Even if I were buying a car that day, I don't think I would buy it from White Bear Acura. It felt like the epitome of a bad car sales story. Not bad a buying experience, staff were, overall friendly. My only complaint is the lack of transparency involved during purchasing. Many, many private conversations were held between the boss and the salesman. It felt like they were scheming against me (which was probably true). Be very careful when you review the final details, found numerous unwanted/uninformed surprises. However, from a car service perspective, the overall experience was excellent. Ist they KNEW my trade had never been registered only stored then waited till the last minute to tell me I had to spend 1400.00 dollars to register the car & yes lose the money & give away years worth of tags all this time I'm getting warnings from Edmunds that my trade is going DOWN in value. when I asked for a number based on miles & condition suddenly that was someone else s responsibility. They said they would have to take it apart and run a full diagnostic test for the radio code....I declined obviously. I told my brother and he found this one website, paid 18 bucks for a radio code and they texted it to him. I entered it in and whaddya know, it works now. $150.00+ vs $18.00. I purchased a car recently from the dealership. The main reason I went to the White Bear dealership was due to proximity to my home. The sales person was great - informative, bent over backwards to answer questions. The Finance guy was nice, personable, but we had to re-do paperwork a couple times due to his mistakes. The whole process took over 3 hours, which I think is extensive since I knew what I wanted... they made me wait for quite some time in between meetings for what seemed like no reason, it was not that busy. The General Manager is not a person who tries to make you feel good about your purchase, but pressures you and treats you like you an an idiot if you do not agree to his offer, especially if you are a woman. I feel I received an okay deal, the best deal, no, but okay. I left feeling slightly upset, but happy the experience was over. I had an appointment with the Sales person who follows up after a new car purchase so you can go over the functions of the car. He was very cordial and helpful. My last comet will be about an incident after my purchase. I will not give too many details away since I do not trust I would not receive retaliatory measures. I had a problem I wanted the dealership to fix, the sales manager was incredibly rude to me and the sales person, after making me wait for over half an hour, I finally got assistance to my request (after finger pointing and excuses). That being said. I love my car, I will keep going there for now and be happy to see my sales representative and grab a cookie. I indicate I would not recommend, because this web-service forces me to choose to submit this review. I honestly cannot say one way or another if I would recommend, there are too many nuances, and I do not have a long relationship with the dealership yet. Total Clown Show. This place is in total chaotic disarray. Was literally trying to hand them my money and they blew it. I rearranged my entire schedule today to take a car I agreed to purchase last night to my mechanic who agreed to work overtime today to look at it. I called 45 mins in advance to make sure my sales guy, Jose had it ready at 1:30. I told him specifically that I was on a tight schedule and my mechanic was working overtime and waiting for me. I get there at 1:30, the agreed upon time and Jose is nowhere to be found. After flagging a manager, he looked up my name, grabbed the keys and promptly led me to the wrong vehicle. Um, I bought a silver one. Any idea where it is? Nope. 26 minutes later without a single word from anyone as to what was going on, and as I was past my deadline for getting it to my mechanic, I left. You know what? Something just seemed off about this place; the fact Jose didn't even listen to me when I told him my situation; the fact he didn't get the car ready before I arrived; the fact that no one checked on me while I waited, and on and on. I decided to trust my gut and texted Jose and told him to refund my deposit and cancel the purchase, which he agreed to without hesitation never asking why or what he could do to remedy his obvious screw up. Within minutes, my wife saw my car come up on her Facebook Feed. "Good News! The2014 Acura MDX SH-AWD 4dr Tech Pkg is still available". I got the feeling during the process that I was being rushed through a mechanical sales process, treated disrespectfully without a concern in the world about my situation and now I know why. It seems that all you are to these guys is a number; easily replaced by simply re-running a Facebook Ad and bringing in fresh meat. Overall, the place is very clean, neat, organized, small and compact just like all the cars there. The staff there is friendly, and the post communication is well followed through. The ethnic diversity could be a little more but from what I've seen so far, they have a good amount of diversity as their sales reps so far. I purchased a 2017 Acura MDX from White Bear Acura in September. My experience had been that it was very difficult if not impossible to obtain a price quote from a dealer over the telephone, but White Bear Acura was the exception. I spoke with new car sales manager Tim Pope, told him what I was looking for and was quoted a price. After a brief negotiation Tim quoted a very attractive price, by far the lowest in the Twin Cities. He ordered the color combination I requested and kept me informed of the estimated arrival date. The MDX arrived, paperwork was completed and a very thorough orientation of the MDX's many amazing features was given by Senior Sales Representative John Weiland (I recommend him as well). Finance Manager Matt Kritzeck was also very helpful, especially as I dealt with glitches that arose with my credit union. It was a very pleasant car buying experience (and I HATE shopping for new cars!). I will definitely be back if I am in the market for a new Acura. read more

This is the 4th vehicle I have purchased from White Bear Acura as my daughter and I have vehicles from this dealership before and my son has a Honda. My last vehicle, a 2001 Acura MDX was purchased years ago (pre-owned at 85,000 miles) and made it to 307,780 miles - sad to see it go but it apparently was time. I have also had the vehicles serviced and parts purchased from here for all vehicles. I completely trust this dealership in Sales, the Service Department and Parts. I will first off start out by saying that I have had no experience purchasing a car here, my only experience has been with the service department. Ever since I purchased my Acura, at a separate dealer, I have been bringing it here for pretty much all of its service. This usually included regular service like oil changes, tire rotations, etc... While I never had any issues with these services and they were done well, I always noticed that the service advisors were pretty hesitant to answer most of my questions regarding other services. I never really thought that much into it and still went there for my regular services. However, when my car flipped over to 100k miles and more expensive services started to come to mind is when I started to become frustrated with the service department. It started when I scheduled to have my timing belt replaced and I received a phone call saying that the timing belt replacement is a service that takes multiple days and would likely cost over $1000. Since my car was purchased used, I asked if there was any way to tell if the timing belt may have been replaced already, rather than offer any sort of advice on ways to check I was pretty much just told no and that they would be unwilling to look and see if they could tell. I eventually found out on my own that it had not been replaced and I instead went to a different shop and paid only 300, significantly lower than what was 'quoted' at the dealer. This continued on into this past winter when I noticed that anytime the temp dropped below 50-40 degrees my car was exceptionally loud when it was started and when you moved the steering wheel it created a noticeable humming/whining noise. Additionally I noticed that my steering was increasingly tighter, especially at lower speeds, making it exceedingly difficult to parallel park. When I went in for an oil change I asked about this and wondered if they might be able to look and see if they could find a problem. Essentially the service advisor told me that I might need a new power steering pump and left it at that, they never bothered to look or do any sort of follow up on it. By this point I was pretty fed up with dealing with the service department. My questions weren't answered and they didn't care to do any sort of follow up questions regarding any problems I brought up with my car. I started to wonder why they even called them 'service advisors' if they don't advise me on anything. I couldn't get a single straight forward answer out of anyone. It was always just an 'okay, this might work', and that was it. I decided to give them one last chance after I found out from a friend who owns the same car as me, and also had the same issue with the noise/steering that changing the power steering fluid worked well for him. I scheduled an appointment to have my power steering fluid flushed, when I arrived I again explained to the service advisor that when its cold the car makes very loud noises when I move the steering wheel and additionally that the steering was very tight at low speeds making it very difficult to make large movements with the steering wheel. I then said that I had heard changing the fluid and maybe doing an alignment might help remedy it. All he said was basically 'yeah i think those might work'. There wasn't any sort of follow up questioning about the issue or actual advice about what the issue might be. Additionally, I asked that they look at the brakes to see if they might need service soon since I know they are getting bad, which he said they would do. I returned today and picked up my car. I spoke with a different advisor since the original one was busy. All he did was hand me my service receipt and ask me to pay, giving me a brief 10 second, at best, follow up on what was done. They didn't have anything to say about the steering issues because I know they didn't bother to look and didn't care. When I asked about the brakes, he said that they didn't look because they didn't take the wheels off. Something I found rather ironic was that he handed me the 'multi point inspection' sheet, lacking the brakes of course, and I noticed that it said all 4 of my tires were in the green and would not need future service. Last time I was there they were all in the yellow and would 'require service in the near future'... Summarizing this all, I am done dealing with White Bear Acura's service department. They are not helpful, they will not look into things and their 'service advisors' dont advise you on anything... I have given them multiple opportunities to show that they can offer a good customer experience and they haven't been able to. While yes the services were done just fine without any issues, why would I want to keep coming to a place where no one wants to answer my questions and none of the issues with my car ever get resolved... read more

Summary: Deceptive practices and terrible management (Chi Vang and Ronnie Blair) After inspecting a vehicle, I decided to purchase it. I went to discuss financing with the manager (who I believe is named Chi Vang, **although I am not sure since he scribbled his signature- he stated he did not work in the Acura department). When I entered his office, he tells me I was not approved for the loan because of the age of the car. I asked him to elaborate, and he said that "I was a bit young" - no mention of my credit score or a negotiation of down payment/interest or cosigner, apparently ageism exists at this dealership. I had already received a loan through my bank, so I was still set to buy the car (which was perhaps my first mistake, as he knew that I was still able to buy the car). This was my first time purchasing a vehicle through a dealership, so I was new to the process and did not have anyone experienced with me. After signing multiple documents, it appeared I was set to go. Only afterward did I realize he deliberately did not give me copies of all the documents, and of the two he did give me he "failed" to sign one. Before closing the deal, it appeared they had put the wrong sticker on the car which said I would receive a 60 day powertrain warranty and 30 day all other parts warranty. After calling another manager, it was agreed they would honor the deal. The next day, around 1pm, I was notified that I had to put down a deposit or the car "could be sold out underneath me". I was at work at this point, and not able to call. After discovering this, I planned to go to the dealership that night to drop off a check and get a receipt. I told them I would call after work at 6:30pm to discuss this. I get a text around 5:30pm saying another salesperson sold the corolla, but the buyers were still in financing. Extremely confused, I asked my supervisor to be allowed to make a call. I called and said I can give them the deposit immediately by card over the phone. I was told that I cannot do that, as the other person right now was in financing for the car. I told him that I had been in financing for it last night, well before the person financing for it right now! I asked them to talk to their manager (Ronnie Blair) and tell them it had been sold. They kept telling me they couldn't do that, appearing to have been on orders from the manager who had told them to sell the car if it doesn't have a deposit (which nobody told me about a deposit the night I viewed the car and signed the documents!). I now realize it was a sham from the beginning - not getting copies of the documents, not having the manager at the time sign the documents, and not being told until right before the car was "sold underneath me" that I needed to put a deposit down. Especially after they realized they made a mistake about the warranty of the car, I am sure they were eager to sell it to someone else. I would not be surprised if there is something extremely wrong with the car, and that is why they were eager to pull a stunt like this. I hope the person who bought the car is not unpleasantly surprised by their new vehicle (as I assume they changed the warranty sticker after I left). They also screwed their own employee out of commission, since they sold it via a different salesperson. Great team at this dealership. After this experience, I will not ever be going through a Luther dealership. If you are looking to purchase a vehicle, I would avoid this dealership altogether. If you feel this is your best bet, please be extremely wary and on the lookout for scams. read more

Our experience with White Bear Acura-Subaru started with test-driving a car while the salesman made repeated pushy attempts to "not leave without a car today" when we were clearly still shopping. I thought I'd give them another try when I spotted another vehicle I was interested in, and after a back and forth through email and repeatedly being told new dates that the car would be ready, I finally got to the date that the car was supposed to be ready to test drive and was told that the manager had sold it to a buddy of his, instead. This place is pushy, dishonest, and living in a previous era of dealerships that don't value customer service. Stay far away from this dealer. read more
