I'm not a huge fan of malls but based off of the way Noah answered the phone, I decided to go in. He greeted me with such enthusiasm that it immediately made me smile. I asked him what the best entrance was to get inside the store and he told me his favorite way and even gave me directions from a parking garage just in case it was raining. He was kind and silly. I loved every second of his phone presentation. So my main reason for going into the store was to return some items that I had ordered online because I didn't really like the scent of them. I was greeted immediately by the manager (Margaret) who was extremely patient, kind, and genuine. I can honestly say that I have never had an experience like the one that I had at this store yesterday. They let me pick out new items and then also showed me some more items that I might like. The other associate, Kayla, helped me find some items that I might like and got me super excited about the sale. I came in to exchange items and left with so much more. The enthusiasm and genuine kindness these three people showed me left me feeling so happy. I told them that I would be leaving reviews online and filling out whatever survey I possibly can for them. They went above and beyond any expectation I possibly could have had. I also will not be purchasing Yankee Candle online unless I have to ship an item to someone and it will be easier that way. Harriet eventually accepted a part time job in the store and when the owner retired Rachel purchased it Lifestyles Giftware carries items for men, women, children, and pets. You can pick up that perfect birthday, anniversary, or wedding gift. Don't show up empty handed for the hostess or just treat yourself. Shop clothing, accessories, bed, bath and body, candles, home goods, kitchen items, and stationary. They carry brands Pampa Bay, Golden Rabbit, Mud Pie, Britto, and Mariposa to name just a few. My favorite items included a dog print makeup bag, the elegant serving dishes, adorable salt and pepper shakers, and lovely glass perfume bottles. I had the matching futon too. Twenty five years later I no longer sleep on a futon and my taste in furniture no longer includes papasan chairs. Pier One is not really one of my favorite stores. I think the prices are high for the products they sell. I was cleaning out my wallet and I found a gift card I received for Xmas. I know they usually have a good candle selection and I can never have to many candles, so off I went. My intention was to run in and buy a candle and leave quickly. That didn't happen because I loved this store so much, I spent a good half hour browsing through the store. And I didn't think they were overpriced at all. In fact I thought the prices were fairly reasonable. I love a good bargain and they had a lot of clearance items in addition to 20% off tons of different things. They have a huge selection of throw pillows, lamps, tableware, candles, trays, papasan chairs, furniture, wine glasses and just so much more. The lighting is dimmed and the store is loaded with various displays set up randomly throughout the store. I had a lot of fun shopping here. I wound up purchasing two very large peach ginger scented candles. They were originally priced at $16.99 each but I found them on a clearance table for just $9.99! I also picked up a simple but pretty glass tray to place the candle on. The two employees I dealt with were both professional and they really wanted to help. I love great customer service and this store nailed it. If I can change one thing it would be to brighten up the store a bit. The dim lighting made shopping a little difficult but luckily I was able to use my flashlight that's on my phone to help me see. The checkout process was smooth. And I received a 20% off coupon for my next visit too. I regret staying away for so long because Pier One is a fantastic store. I definitely will be coming back here to shop for myself as well as to shop for gifts for family and friends. Check out the clearance tables when you go, they have great items drastically reduced. I really did not like having one shared bowl of rice for an entire table of strangers, with everyone wetting their hands and repeatedly reaching into the same bowl. Even with handwashing, people may have long nails, cuts, broken skin, or other things that make shared hand-contact with food uncomfortable. I think each person or party should have their own bowl of rice, and gloves should at least be available for anyone who prefers them. I also did not like that the chef walked around and repeatedly touched different people's food with her bare, wet hands without asking first. I understand that she was trying to help demonstrate the technique, but not everyone is comfortable with someone touching their food, especially after moving from station to station. It would have been much better to ask before touching someone's food. I also did not love being required to leave the cooking area and walk around the store during the class. I understand the marketing idea behind it, but I would have preferred to stay, enjoy the experience, and finish my food. For the price, I also expected better beverage accommodations. I was not offered water, wine, or really any drink option. Even water and perhaps a complimentary glass of wine would have been a nice touch. Lastly, the portions could have been a little more generous. At one point there was not even enough rice for everyone. The experience itself was fun and the idea is excellent. I just think some small improvements, especially around sanitation, individual ingredients, portions, beverages, and asking before touching guests' food, would make a huge difference. I would probably try another cooking class concept elsewhere that offers a setup better suited for people who are more particular about shared food preparation.
