Kyleigh is great. Erika is great. The chef is even better than great. And the cooks. Great. Bartender is great. If you're up 410 COME HERE! Stay here. Shop here. Great gifts (and I bet you didn't think I could use the word "great" one more time.)

Had the BEST time this weekend at Whistlin Jack's campsite. I had a hard time finding a camping reservation in the National park, so this was a perfect alternative. Booked 2 campsites for my group of 8 and it was the perfect space on the River with lots of space, including a fire pit and picnic table. It was secluded but also with the convenience of being next door to a little shop, bar, and restaurant (with great food). The location was also perfect - we did a nearby hike at Naches Loop and hug out at Bumping Lake. The staff at Whistlin Jack's was so friendly. I would come back and highly recommend!

A few of the performers in the fly ballet. They wouldn't even touch most of the food.

We have had several wonderful meals and a great stay in one of the cabins in years past, so for my birthday this evening, we decided to make the trip up for a nice, quiet dinner. It was memorable, but for all of the wrong reasons. We were greeted outside by two employees on their break, smoking cigarettes right in front of the entrance (not even close to the mandatory 25 feet away). When we got inside, we were shown to a table in the front row for what we called "The Housefly Ballet". There were at least 20 flies congregating. Our server, Stormi, was wonderful. She was attentive and professional. She was the only server in the dining room and was handling it very well. Now for the food. My husband ordered the Pot Roast. It was like leather. I could literally hear it squeaking on his teeth. The skin on the potatoes was so tough it was inedible. The gravy was obviously from a mix and was congealed and super salty. His French fries tasted like the oil they were cooked in hadn't been changed in weeks, so the fries had a vague cod/trout flavor to them. I ordered the Chicken "en" Penne with Lemon Chardonnay sauce. (Don't get me started on the extreme lack of any kind of grammatical or spelling correctness on the menu). The sauce was tasty and the chicken was well cooked, but the pasta was cooked to mush and there was four times the sauce that needed to be on the plate - it was soup. I will now laugh every time I drive past WJL and will only stop in the extreme need of a bathroom.

The food was a lone bar called vans (dated but friendly and decent food) and a lone hotel. The woman answered the bell and agreed to show me her rooms and told me the price. 86 bucks later we found ourselves in a dated but clean and nice smelling room. Comfortable beds with good quality bedding were a nice surprise and we were tired so we went to sleep. In the morning we made some hotel provided coffee (very good) and enjoyed it at a cafe style table with real coffee cups and cloth napkins silverware. The towels were fluffy and heavy and the complimentary soaps and shampoos were great. For the money the amenities here far surpassed any I have experienced in hotels at twice the price. Great little find we highly recommend it.

The person on the phone was helpful and laid back. This is definitely not a chain hotel nor is it a foofy B&B. The decor in the New Orleans room was meh. I asked the owner if there was wi-fi internet service and was told that internet was available in a specific area, but no wi-fi. FYI, I use TMobile=No Phone Service=No Edge. Pros - Near the "Y" at interstates 410 and 12, pretty good prices, mellow atmosphere. (YMMV) Cons - No cell phone service (for me), a couple of strange greasy stains on a couple of the pillow cases! yuck. One of the pillows smelled like cologne (unwashed?) Anyway, my experience with the Natchez Hotel is LIMITED, but I don't need much when i'm just staying for a quick "over-night". I just needed a place to sleep, and I would crash here again if it came down to it. I'll give it three stars because it borders between 2-3 stars.

Parking is a bit of a hassle and we ended up paying the $10 for hotel, parking in a lot around the corner. It was worth it as we could walk to restaurants within blocks of the hotel. As for the room itself, it was moderately sized but we had room for all our gear without tripping over anything. The king sized bed was comfortable with 5 pillows provided (the norm seems to be 4 nowadays). The room was very quiet but the bathroom has a sliding barn door which unfortunately doesn't muffle bathroom noises which should be private. Decor is soothing warm neutrals with a small sofa and a desk chair provided for seating. There is a small frig but no microwave. Keurig is provided for in room coffee but I would recommend going down to the lobby where fresh brewed coffee seems to be provided. 22/7. We did not check out the rooftop garden due to the weather. Would've enjoyed a drink in the cozy bar adjacent to the lobby but it doesn't seem to be open yet. I would definitely stay here again should I have the need to overnight in Ellensburg.

So last week, on my way to Seattle I decided to stay the night in beautiful Ellensburg, WA (home to Central Washington University). Since it was just for a couple nights, I decided to get something downtown so I could walk around. I found Hotel Windrow online, booked the room and what a fantastic surprise. This boutique hotel is indeed RIGHT downtown. It's stylish, easy to find, obviously in a great location, and the property includes a hip little lobby bar a space called 'Top of the Berg' which is a rooftop area with fire pits, etc. very cosmopolitan. The rooms were lovely, very homey with a small couch, desk, large bathroom and comfortable bed. I walked two blocks to a fantastic Italian meal (more about that in another review) and overall, had a truly fantastic and easy night. A couple amenities to highlight include ample parking and electric charging spaces for electric cars or hybrids. I love finds like this, and plan on making at least one night stay over a regular occurrence now if I'm traveling on I-90. Recommended.

The campsites were so close to each other, I had to listen to the guy four feet from my tent snore all night. The first night, they did not manage quiet time at all, people were still yelling at 12:30 am. The next night, one of the camps had at least 25 people at their site and were playing their music so loud it was deafening throughout the entire campground. We were 100 yards away from them and had to raise our voices to be heard amongst ourselves. The showers and bathrooms were disgusting. (At least the water was hot in the showers) The lake itself is very beautiful but I would highly recommend you find another place on the lake to enjoy the lake.
