Bedroom (Cabin Fever)
Jin G.

We started in the "Cabin Fever" for four days and three nights. Upon arrival the check in desk was very welcoming. The cabin itself was so warm and musky. Must've been because it's pet friendly so hence why it must've smelled alittle unpleasant, and our dog was all sniffing around, but we open all the windows that were able to open and aired the cabin out. The carpets to be honest can use a little shampoo cleaning and the a/c unit would take FOREVER to get to the lowest temperature allowed which is 75. So we recommend you sleep with a few windows open. Luckily the days & nights we stayed were a lot cooler than most days. Other than that for the money you're paying on the space is worth it. The bedroom was clean we loved the bathroom and the jetted tub, and thankfully the bed was clean. The pull out couch had few spots but thankfully they provided sheets to cover and sleep on. There is cable. The guest bathroom is also neat only sucks how the toilet bowl is high and toilet paper dispenser is not in arms reach. The stand up tub is perfect only needs a knob or hook for towels. Inside the guest bathroom you'll find the washer and dryer as well. In the kitchen believe it's a FULL kitchen. You've got a coffee bar, fridge and freezer, stove with oven, microwave and dishwasher super spacious with a four seating table plus 3 seats at the island. They provide you with salt and pepper, coffee with cream and sugar, pita and pans, silverwares and utensils and cups and dishes, crockpot, blender, cutting boards, also they give you towels, rags, trash bags, paper towels, sponges and dish soap. I highly would recommend the cabin fever. We we're able to save more by cooking in our cabin. Albertson's is just a 6 min drive and Walmart; 12.

We are in the blue spruce cabin. Very nicely decorated. Very clean and comfortable. All the comforts of home. A bit deceived by the location. I anticipated a very secluded area when in fact, we are on road frontage and it is a busy road. However, if they allow dogs and have every amenity you could hope for. I plan to rent a big cabin in the spring for the whole family. Really close to everything. Great to walk to town.

I stayed at the Mac Cabin for 4 nights. Perfect time of the season. Our first night we got snow. Word of advice: buy some tire chains for your vehicle, its worth it. The customer service was great, a lot better than traditional 5 star hotel service. The managers had great attitudes, were very informative, and provided prompt customer service upon request. Perfect for families with small children. We had friendly deer show up at our doorstep each morning and we would feed them corn tortillas......LOL. I will definitely be coming back to Wispering Pine Cabins.

Love the comfort and coziness of The Bears' Way cabin!

The Bears' Way Cabin....hot coffee, cool mountain morning, excellent accommodations and hosts, the LOML...God is good all the time and all the time.....

Outstanding customer service and wonderful cabins. My family will visit again.

Wonderful customer service, great cabins at a fair price. They did not nickel and dime you like other places. Everything in the cabin was part of the price, did not have to pay extra for anything.

A very substandard bathroom!

We stayed in the Roadrunner Cabin, avoid it! Very substandard bathroom, it looked patched together by a 9th grade shop student. The heater in the cabin was very noisy. In order to sleep,we bought our own space heater. The bathroom had no heater/vent, it was a good thing we bought a space heater. The decor was ok, and the location was good. We saw mule deer each morning. The negatives far outweigh the positives!!

Would you sleep here?

Worst trip I have EVER had. First of all when you go into any place, cabin, hotel, motel, you name it, the sheets HAVE to be clean regardless. I got to ruidoso and got ready in the cabin which I do agree it was beautiful in some areas, but once I wanted to take a shower, the water was hot for 5 minutes and started spewing out cold water! I couldn't even shower, then I decide well, I'm gonna try the whirlpool, can't even fill the damn thing up 2" without getting cold water. Decided to address the issue in a more reasonable hour considering the woman that works there has children and possibly has to sleep. So cool my husband and I decide to watch some tv and movies, 3 in the morning comes up, I'm tired of watching Rob and Bigs show, I decided I'm ready for bed. I pull back sheets and there are these disgusting stains! I mean common sense says whether they're nasty stains or good stains, you can't have a bed looking like that! Replace the damn sheets! So freaking grossed out we packed our things got in the car called the office about 50 times we went to there office/home because we were not provided an emergency number, and no one answers! We then decide to sleep on the pull out bed fully clothes bc we don't know what other sheets weren't washed! Then they come over at 9am, guy who owns the cabin comes over checks the sink for 2 minutes and says he's gonna fix the issue, takes him 4 hours to give us new sheets. So then after the new sheets we think that the water has been fixed, we go start the whirlpool, not even 2" over and boom cold water so we try and handle it take a cold whirlpool shower and at that point I'm fed up with calling them, I can't even shower and I'm extremely not satisfied with the sheets and basically the entire night at cabin fever. It was the worst cabin stay I've ever had. I go to the office and ask for a refund because what were promised wasn't given! Who wants to pay $180 dollars to sleep on a pull out bed meant for children and can't even take a nice shower! That is RIDICULOUS. To top it off we couldn't even leave that night because other lodges that are pet friendly weren't answering their phones. So once we speak to them about a refund they decide that we don't deserve one because we didn't have an emergency number that was not provided? We also don't get a refund because we stayed one night any way? I tried to leave, I tried banging on their home door, it WAS cause for an emergency and it shouldn't take 4 hours to return with clean sheets. I'm so upset with this place, I don't recommend it to anyone. Cabin fever is the worst cabin and once u try and explain how u feel and how disgusted u are, they get greedy and decide to keep your money. Then the manager won't give us the contract we supposedly sign until we sign the receipt, which is completely ILLEGAL! Not only that but come on, really? They want me to pay $154 dollars to stay on a freakin pull out bed and offer one night free when the first night should have been free because the place was gross! Not my fault. Now I have to dispute the charges and I'm completely upset with this place. Later he admits he wants to take our hard earned money and thinks that it's okay to sleep on dirty sheets, which he claims it's fabric softener! Sorry that don't look like fabric softener to me.

4 Stars - A High-Desert Blackjack Fever Dream…read more There are casinos, and then there are casinos that feel like a mildly hallucinogenic roadside poem written at 7,500 feet above sea level. This is the latter. The blackjack tables here are loose in that beautiful way that makes a gambler feel briefly chosen by the gods. Chips slide, cards slap the felt, and the dealers and pit bosses carry a refreshing lack of casino stiffness. Nobody's breathing down your neck like a tax auditor of sin. The vibe is relaxed, almost conspiratorial--like the whole room knows we're all here for the same ridiculous dance with probability. Two dealers deserve special mention. Makaila runs a table like a jazz drummer--smooth, quick, unflustered. June, meanwhile, is a delightful menace. She enjoys tricking players into thinking she's pulled a blackjack. She'll pause, squint, grin, and for a brief moment the table collectively experiences a small existential crisis before she reveals the truth. It's performance art disguised as card dealing. The hotel itself sits out in Mescalero, right beside Ruidoso, overlooking the calm waters of Mescalero Lake--a high-desert lake that looks especially poetic when the mountain air hits your lungs like cold champagne. At 7,500 feet elevation, the place has that crisp alpine quiet that makes you feel like you've wandered into some strange mountain monastery... except the monks are holding blackjack chips. Inside, the casino is modern, comfortable, and easy to navigate. Outside? The parking lot is a bit ugly--like a sun-baked asphalt lizard. But it's shaded, which in the high desert counts as a civic virtue. The crowd is mostly reasonable. Sure, every casino has a few characters who appear to have been assembled from spare parts and bad decisions--but overall the patrons were friendly. I even noticed quite a few young women comfortably playing at the tables, which usually means the atmosphere hasn't drifted too far into creep territory. The rooms are spacious and many have great views of the lake, which adds a peaceful counterpoint to the card-table chaos downstairs. And if you're the adventurous type, there's a disc golf course nearby plus plenty of walking trails along the lake. It's a nice way to clear your head after battling the dealer and the laws of mathematics. One practical note: Hydrate like a camel preparing for a desert opera. The air here is dry enough to turn a raisin back into a grape. Would I come back? Absolutely. Between the mountain air, the laid-back blackjack, and the occasional theatrical dealer mind-game, it's a wonderfully strange little high-desert gambling outpost. Four stars. Bring water. Bring luck. And keep an eye on June's face when she peeks at that second card.

The hotel and room were very nice. Far exceeded our expectations. The views were lovely…read more The "blond haired witch" that evidently is the manager for the very upscale restaurant and bar was rude, condescending, and over the top. We were unaware of a private event being held in the bar. The bartenders fixed our drinks and she let us all know that a private event was starting. Why wasn't this advertised? Why was she screaming at everyone to leave. "Go outside!" "Finish your drinks there." Well, several of us did attempt that. Not only was there a LARGE oversized DOG on the patio (I'm extremely allergic and I doubt it was a service animal) but someone else was also SMOKING out there. Did she address either of those issues? So we took our pricey drinks to our room. When we came back down at 7 the area was packed, Smokey (?) and chaotic. The bars in the rest of the hotel/casino don't compare with this one. Why wasn't the extremely over priced restaurant opened to the private party instead of the bar which many of us wanted to utilize yet couldn't. The restaurant was nearly empty. The night prior when I inquired about reservations she told me to go to Open Table. "Do you utilize Open Table? Just go there." OK. I do. But why couldn't she take our reservation? What a piece of work. Our breakfasts and bar tenders in the Broken Arrow were fabulous! It was obvious they were locals and took pride in their job. Was interested in the spa but there were no price sheets available. Was told to "look online" but still couldn't access the information. So I didn't "spa it." We don't gamble but came for the ambience, the food and drinks, and the scenery. We will come back. Hopefully Blondie will be GONE! Y'all can do so much better. ###

I am writing this to express my disappointment and frustration regarding my family's recent stay at…read morethis hotel. We traveled from out of state for a family vacation and specifically chose to stay at this hotel to support a local business rather than a large franchise. One of the reasons we selected this property was because it openly promotes itself as a pet-friendly hotel. We also paid the required pet fee for our dogs, with the understanding that they would be welcomed as long as we followed your policies. which we have. Throughout our stay, we were repeatedly told that complaints were being made about our dogs being noisy in our hotel room. This was very concerning, as we have never had issues with our dogs at any hotel in the past. They are well-behaved, quiet, and sleep in their kennels when we are away from the room. Our dogs were also with us for the majority of the day and were not left unattended for extended periods of time. The only incident that occurred was when a room cleaner knocked on our door, which caused our dog to growl, which is a natural response to an unexpected knock. Our dog did not bark, and the situation was quickly resolved. This isolated moment does not justify repeated complaints or accusations of ongoing noise disturbances. Despite paying a pet fee and following proper procedures, we were made to feel as though our dogs were not actually welcome. We were effectively made to feel that our dogs should not be left alone in the room at all, even while properly kenneled, which is unreasonable for a hotel that actively advertises itself as pet-friendly. What is even more troubling is the unprofessional conduct displayed by the manager, Michael Lopez. He instructed one of his employees to notify someone from our room yet again about these alleged complaints, and that person happened to be my 15-year-old son. Addressing a minor regarding a guest complaint is completely inappropriate and unacceptable. Any communication regarding concerns should have been directed to an adult.Because of the repeated accusations, the inconsistent treatment regarding your pet-friendly policy, and the stress this situation caused our family, we have decided to end our stay early and will be leaving one day ahead of our scheduled departure. This is not how we expected our family vacation to end, and it is extremely disappointing. We made a conscious decision to support a local hotel, expecting better customer service and professionalism. Instead, we were met with repeated accusations and poor judgment from management. I am beyond disappointed and disgusted by how this situation was handled. I hope this complaint is taken seriously and that appropriate steps are taken to address the unprofessional behavior and inconsistent enforcement of policies so future guests are not treated the same way.

It's a relatively large building on the southern side of Ruidoso with one entrance in and out of the hotel. My daughters and I agree that this one is quite a bit more modern than the Best Western just a few miles away in Ruidoso Downs. That doesn't necessarily mean we enjoyed this site better... We actually enjoyed the other BW location more as it was quieter and sat in the midst of many pine trees. The elevator was relatively fast. Our bathroom could have been cleaner. Too much hair & not enough scrubbing in the shower! Also, why have shampoo, soap, and body wash dispensers in there if they aren't refilled? The indoor pool (not heated but was still pretty warm to us) was slightly dirty and we were immediately turned off by a huge yellowish loogie floating near us. Gross huh?! It's obvious they don't clean it at night. The hot tub was nice and much cleaner. The lone working ice machine was near here. The breakfast room was a wreck after 8:30AM. Tamales in the warmers were so smushed and torn apart that without the sign we would have wondered what it was... Of course, no employee was tending to the area. I could often hear people walking down the halls and running and playing. Then there was the road noise from Camelot Drive. Overall, our experience wasn't terrible, but it certainly could've been better - namely cleaner. The WI-FI worked fine in our room, however, the welcome sheet and my card sleeve had different passwords. Rose, guest service agent at the front desk the entire time we were there, was very pleasant and kind. Our double queen suite was $161.98 after taxes & fees.
