Because of her attitude and demeanor when I was leaving I asked the very nice young lady at the front desk what was the doctors name since she had never told me and she informed me that she was not a doctor. I feel that my insurance and I were scammed. We made an appointment to see a doctor not some random nameless person. I feel that it was a bait and switch situation! I have reported this situation to United Health Care, Medicare, Medicaid, and Pathways so that no other senior citizen is mislead and deceived.

The staff who answer the phone for both the ENTs and audiology are incompetent and rude. The office that serves both sides uses computer phones. My patient with hearing aides cannot understand them at all. They mumble, they echo, they talk on speaker and do not use headphones+microphone. When you tell them, they say there's nothing they can do and move on. I asked them to pass on the feedback and they said it's not their job. I was interrupted and then hung up on twice -- because I described the problem and told them it is unacceptable. My patient, who is an adult child, was hung up on because she could not hear them. THIS IS AN OFFICE THAT WORKS FOR (not with, FOR) PEOPLE WITH HEARING ISSUES, and they hang up on you because you can't hear the system they use, which does not cater to deaf and hard-of-hearing! The one I talked to one of the times said she doesn't even talk to that many hearing impaired people, and that she and other staff can't hear us well either. There seems to be no training for the staff to first of all understand that they serve the patients not the other way around, and that they have to cater to the population with disabilities that this business exists for! The doctor and audiologists are fine if you make it past this joke of a scheduling system.

Thankfully, she set the expectation that the hearing aid would be uncomfortable for up to 2 weeks. We are well past the 2 week period and my mom's hearing has improved dramatically!! My mom has been fitted with the Lyric hearing device. It is tiny and cannot be seen at all! We have been waiting for an X-small Lyric for several years. It is finally available. I arrived at 1:20 for a 1:30 appointment, allowing myself an hour for time and wasn't told until I went to the receptionist desk at 2:20 to inquire that there was an emergency appointment that morning. When I asked the receptionist why she didn't notify me of this earlier by phone or at least when I walked in she became very cold and rude and told me I could reschedule. To be honest, after thinking about this I will be finding a new doctor. It does seem that every time I go into the Carmel office there are delays of at least thirty minutes and an air of snobbery. I also don't like the way they speak to elderly patients, impatient and abrupt on a few of my visits now. My time is also valuable. I didn't even receive an apology. After 4 years as a patient I will unfortunately be seeking another provider. I was treated as if I didn't matter because losing me is no big deal - they have plenty of patients. I felt so disrespected and it seems to be a pattern with the office staff.

I was extremely nervous about the longer recovery, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat (and I wish I would've done it sooner)! I'm not going to lie, it's scary having your eyes operated on while you're awake, but the doctors were very attentive to how I was doing throughout the procedure. There wasn't any pain, just some discomfort, and it was over in about 10 minutes. The recovery time they quoted me was spot on and I'm so pleased with the results. I almost forget what it was like wearing glasses and contacts, and I tell anyone who'll listen about how life changing it is to have vision correction surgery. Dr. Lanter and his team took amazing care of me and my eyes. If you're considering having the procedure done, I highly recommend calling their offices for a consultation.
