Was relatively easy to get an appointment with an ER referral (broken nose from an accident). Staff was pleasant & efficient, handled all of the insurance stuff. Dr. Patel didn't spend much time with me at all, recommended septum repair & threw in turbinate reduction even though I wasn't having problems breathing (aside from the break). So now I am +4 months post surg & my nose won't stop running because the turbinates were reduced too much. Options are nasal drying spray (which hasn't worked) or another (pricey) surgery to build the turbinates back up - no thanks. My nose is straight(er) but the tip is still numb & the nares area is so tender I can't blow my nose like a normal person. I REALLY regret having this done. read more

We've been patients here since 2009. The past 2 years, since they became Whisper Hearing Centers, service has been AWFUL! The staff who answer the phone for both the ENTs and audiology are incompetent and rude. The office that serves both sides uses computer phones. My patient with hearing aides cannot understand them at all. They mumble, they echo, they talk on speaker and do not use headphones+microphone. When you tell them, they say there's nothing they can do and move on. I asked them to pass on the feedback and they said it's not their job. I was interrupted and then hung up on twice -- because I described the problem and told them it is unacceptable. My patient, who is an adult child, was hung up on because she could not hear them. THIS IS AN OFFICE THAT WORKS FOR (not with, FOR) PEOPLE WITH HEARING ISSUES, and they hang up on you because you can't hear the system they use, which does not cater to deaf and hard-of-hearing! The one I talked to one of the times said she doesn't even talk to that many hearing impaired people, and that she and other staff can't hear us well either. There seems to be no training for the staff to first of all understand that they serve the patients not the other way around, and that they have to cater to the population with disabilities that this business exists for! The doctor and audiologists are fine if you make it past this joke of a scheduling system. read more

Dr. Klein was recommended to us. She explained everything and made it easy to understand. Our kids both see her and she helped resolve issues they were both experiencing. Thankful we found her when we did. She is a wonderful doctor. read more

My doctor recommended this office for a hearing test. Setting up an appointment was easy but the office staff were fairly gruff. Reception was also not friendly, not acknowledging my arrival at the front desk and answering phones prior to greeting me at the desk. The hearing test was extremely thorough and the staff conducting the exam was very professional. They explained the process and the results. The doctor was fine, a bit condescending, but fine. I'm always concerned when a service recommended, that "oh, by the way - we offer that service at our business, conveniently located next to our office, with shared waiting area". Conflict of interest? The hearing aid place felt like a sales pitch. I didn't know hearing aids were such a profit-maker. Will I return? Maybe. read more

I've been to Northside ENT twice & saw Dr. Beech both times. He's extremely skilled in his craft and his honesty is top-notch. The first time I went to him was for persistent swollen lymph nodes in my neck. I had been to my medical doctor three times for this issue, each time telling me that I was a "mystery." After an examination, Dr. Beech said he couldn't believe that I hadn't been diagnosed with mono & ordered me to get a blood test that same day nearby. Within a few days, I had a follow up from Dr. Beech confirming it was mono & gave me tips. The second time I saw him was for my frequent bloody nose episodes. I walked in fully expecting to get a nose cauterization (as I had done in the past with another ENT). Dr. Beech examined my nose, said that cauterization wasn't the best route for me & instead suggested a $5 nose gel that is natural with no harsh ingredients. I have been very impressed by Dr. Beech's examinations and professional opinion each time. He's not in it for the money & definitely wants to help. The waiting room is nice & spacious with two restrooms. Front desk is a little chaotic but they apologized for my wait, which was very sweet. read more

Dr. Bruggers is great. He takes his time to explain and answer questions. He checked both of my sons for lip and tongue ties, revised my youngest son's tongue tie and placed tubes in his ears. Each time we come to the office we are warmly received at reception. Their billers must be competent as our insurance has never had an issue with the claims. If you need a pediatric ENT, I would recommend this office to you. read more

Office staff is awful. Make sure you check with your insurance on coverage because they certainly won't. They'll let your daughter go ahead and have a tonsillectomy, at the surgery center that is owned by some of the doctors in this group (shady ) and you won't know they're out of network until you receive the bill and notice from insurance that none of it is covered because they're now out of network. I was told 'we only verify coverage and don't check to see if we're in network' oh ffs, it seems like a pretty basic and ethical thing to check. Dr. Beach is nice enough though. There are two words I would use to sum up my experience with Northside ENT--FRUSTRATING and EXPENSIVE! IMO this practice has poor communication methods, sloppy billing procedures, high fees for services and even prescribes/performs unnecessary services. The first time/new patient office visit is $375. Upon arriving and before I even saw the Doctor, I was called back to a sound booth for a hearing test. I'm of an age where I don't need a hearing test, moreover, the reason for my visit had NOTHING to do with hearing loss and was completely unrelated to hearing. I declined the hearing test as it seemed nothing more than a veiled attempt to inflate the bill. In hindsight that should have been my first clue to simply walk out. The appointment was with Dr. Youkilis and found him to be unhelpful, arrogant and condescending. He was in the room maybe 10 minutes (that is $37.50 a minute!) he performed a procedure that lasted about 2 seconds and the charge was $117 per ear! I received four different bills none of which had the same amount due and it took 7 months and numerous calls to get a final bill. One appointment ended up being $610 worth of charges and a COMPLETE waste of time and money, plus Dr. Youkillis didn't fix/solve a thing--months later I still had the issue that I went to see him for. Take a hint from fellow Yelpers and steer clear of this practice--they aren't the only show in town so do yourself ( and your wallet) a favor and go some place else. read more

The Office Staff here is awful... My daughter had her tonsils out July 2018 and the office staff was neutral. Last week (February 26 2019) we visited the office for an ear issue. As a returning patient (which should really be CUSTOMER) while scheduling the appointment we experienced terrible, bordering on rude, customer service over the phone. Our family physician had to get involved to get an appointment within the necessary time frame. When we arrived for our appointment we witnessed the front desk staff belittle and berate a NEW patient who was only 15 minutes early for her appointment, therefore they would NOT be able to see her today. OMG are you kidding me???? New patients fill out all paperwork online prior to the appointment, all that's left is to give them your driver's license and insurance card to make a copy of and sign the last two pieces of paper in person - shouldn't take more than 15 minutes. This doctors office front desk staff made this NEW patient wait while they checked with the doctor, came back out and promptly sent her away, "sorry you weren't early enough, we won't be able to see you today." WTF!!!! Dr. Hackett always treats us well HOWEVER customer service counts. And these Doctors own the surgery center they use so they've got some skin in the game. If the medicine is equal, it's the customer service that separates providers. If your first contact with the office is "lacking" try another specialist. read more

Ive come here for my tonsils over the past 5 years. I have also come here when i had a ruptured eardrum. The facility is conveniently located ate the corner of Penn and Old Meridian. Parking can get tight since they and the businesses below get busy. Northside ENT is on the second floor. The check in process is super easy and cool. they give you a tablet to digitally fill out the questionnaire and even pay for your co-pay right there hassle free. Its easy and quick. They ask you to come to your appointment 15 min early to do this. Ive been going to Dr. Seth Bruggers for my tonsils. He is a great person, easy to talk to and very understanding. I have surgery scheduled with him in March so i'll update my review then. I came here when i ruptured my ear drums in 2011 and again for a sinus infection. Every time I've come here i have been very happy with my service. All of the staff are amazing!!! Highly Recommend for anyone needing an ENT doctor. read more

Northside ENT - Ear Nose & Throat Near Me - Carmel, Indiana

I am really appalled at how poorly I was just treated by Northside ENT. I saw Dr. Youkilis two weeks ago for ongoing throat issues. He went over treatment for LPR (a specific type of reflux) and also suggested that I see a voice therapist for Muscle Tension Dysphonia. I asked if I needed to call to schedule that (because every other referral I've had recently, the doctor's office that I was referred to has contacted me to schedule the appointment). I could have misunderstood, but I thought he said that she was out of town, and her assistant would be getting in touch with me to set something up. So I waited. I was planning to call to schedule it myself if I hadn't heard anything in 2 weeks. One week later (last week) I started getting some sinus drainage & irritated throat. I went to work anyway, which involves talking to a large group of people for a couple hours. I completely lost my voice. Now, I haven't been able to talk in 4 days. It's getting worse, not better, and my tonsils feel messed up too. Yesterday at 8:30 am, I submitted a question through Northside ENT's online form since I can't talk on the phone, explaining my condition and asking if I should go ahead and set up an appointment. There was no response by 3:30, so I had my husband call and try to schedule an appointment for me. The receptionist said she would check with the doctor and call back. She didn't call back until the next day (just now) when she told my husband that it's my fault I lost my voice because I didn't schedule the follow-up with the voice therapist. He explained that I'm sick as well, it's not just my voice, and again he was told that there's nothing they're willing to do for me since I didn't set anything up with their voice therapist. I'm completely shocked at this response, and obviously will be looking for a different ENT (and voice therapist) in the future. But for now I'm off to urgent care to find a health professional who is actually "professional" and willing to help me. Edited 2 days later to add that I was correct that they were supposed to be contacting me to schedule the voice therapy appointment. I just received a call from someone at their office who apologized for an office miscommunication they had that resulted in her not being aware that she was supposed to contact me to set that up. So I was refused treatment because of their own mistake. Nice! I also got a follow up call from Dr. Youkilis who apparently did NOT tell whoever my husband talked to that he would not see me since I hadn't scheduled the voice therapy appointment. Based on other reviews of this place (many of which are hidden in Yelp's "reviews that are not recommended" section, as mine probably will be soon) it sounds like they have a problematic receptionist who is going to continue to lose them patients until they do something about her. But Dr. Youkilis himself was wonderful, and I have no problem whatsoever with him. Unfortunately, I will still be contacting a new ENT because I don't feel comfortable in a medical office that employs someone who has such little concern for patients. Edited a few months later to add that I am SO glad that the receptionist at Northside ENT was so awful. Dr. Youkilis misdiagnosed me (though I am at least glad he recognized the voice problem which was not the primary reason for my visit), so the voice therapy that they were so insistent that I do would have done absolutely no good. I'm now being seen by one of the top specialists in the state for my actual problem (Adductor Spasmodic Dysphonia) and look forward to finally having the correct treatment to resolve my issue. read more

The office staff and woman who did my hearing test were amazing. Dr. Beach was not. He acts as though people who have mental illnesses such as anxiety also cannot have physical ailments. He was dismissive and unsympathetic to my ongoing discomfort. Would not recommend. read more

These incompetent boobs are the epitome of everything wrong with the medical industry. I went to see Dr. Hackett about two weeks ago complaining of sudden tinnitus in my right ear, pressure, feeling of fullness, loss of hearing. I go through the hearing test with some young graduate who was clearly very inexperienced who tells me I have lost half my hearing, then they shuffle me into see Dr. Hackett. Hackett says I have nerve damage and need an MRI to ensure it's not a tumor. He also informs me I'll need to go on steroids, but there is only a 30% chance I'll recover my hearing. The dizziness is debilitating, but I'm told I'll probably have to learn to live with it. I ask if I could have fluid on my ears and am told "no." They send an order form for me to have an MRI at Northwest Radiology and call in my steroids. Low and behold (like many others have experienced according to previous reviews), the office never called in my steroids. I call over the next day and they swear up and down they did call them in. Well, they didn't and I had to request AGAIN before I got them. My wife picked up the steroids and I wound up needing to call the office to get an explanation on how to take the steroids since Hackett didn't bother to explain. On a hunch, I start taking a powerful decongestant and indeed it helped significantly. So much for the no fluid theory. I call NW Radiology and tell them I'm a patient of Dr Hackett's (although I feel more like his bitch at this point) and schedule my MRI. Thursday I get a call from Hackett's office wondering if I've scheduled my MRI and letting me know they've sent over the order form. Now it's Friday. I arrived for my 2:45pm appointment. After 45 minutes of waiting they tell me Dr Hackett's office never sent the order for the MRI. Further, they also inform me that the phones are apparently down at Northside ENT and they can't reach them. Now I sit in the waiting room at NW Radiology while my spouse heads to Hackett's office to get the order form. The level of incompetence and total lack of follow through is disturbing enough. The fact that Dr. Hackett seems to be on cruise control at this stage in his career and has no interest in even pretending to engage in patient care or bothering to accurate diagnose a patient's condition is absolutely vile. It appears as though my experience is not unique. I'll obviously be going to another ENT for the follow up on my MRI. Dr. Hackett, if you're tired of your profession and no longer can muster up the strength to feign passion and care for your patients, retire! You're dealing with peoples' health, a-hole read more

Dr. Weiss does not seem mentally all together. He caused me severe pain by just pushing and pinching on my muscles for no valid reason. Not on any area related to my allergies in any way. He said it was because he suspected (again, for no reason) that I may have other issues with my bones. I left with no help whatsoever with my allergies, had to go see yet another doctor after he charged $346 to keep me waiting almost an hour, not discuss my actual symptoms, and caused me pain that lasted a day. He speaks with his eyes closed and makes little sense when he speaks. Then he told me I should have surgery on the back of throat "just in case" and suggested that he perform it. I would not let this man anywhere near me again under any circumstances. He's a danger to people. read more

So surprised to see bad reviews on here however the bad one's seem to be about the staff at Northside ENT and CENTA and not the Docs. I do not know Dr. Hacket however Dr. Youkilis and his Nurse Tony and the office staff at Northside ENT have taken care of me twice for both my kids having tubes and then later tonsillectomies(a major surgery for my two young boys) I work in healthcare so I can and will be extremely critical of the way I am treated. I expect the best because I do the best I can in my job. Dr. Youkilis and his nurse Tony are amazing. They are warm, honest, direct, loving and will talk to you as much as needed. They are informative, on time and you can expect what they say will happen. This is not their first rodeo - this is their life. Dr. Youkilis's bed side manner should be a model for all physicians and people in health care. He looks right at you when he talks and he cares - he returns pages right away and it matters to him that he helps you. He is loving, warm and my kids recovery with him was important to he and his staff. I cannot say one bad thing about him. These reviews are not about him but if you are looking at Northside ENT for your child or your own issue . Dr. Youkilis is the man! In addition to having two kids who have had major surgeries with him. I have a friend who had his thyroid removed(due to cancer) and two other friends whose kids have gotten tubes with him. They all say the same thing . . . I would NEVER go to anyone else. He can be trusted with your children because he's amazing and has the experience and the compassion you need from a physician. Warning - bad customer service! I was tested for my allergies by the office in 2008 and have been on daily allergy medicine ever since. When I started to develop asthma symptoms related to my allergies, I assumed my ENT was the right place to go. I called to schedule an appointment, told the receptionist I was having asthma issues and she found a time for me to see Dr. Hackett that next week. When I arrived at my appt and told Dr. Hackett about my asthma issues, he looked at me and said, "Well, I don't handle asthma. You'll have to see your general practitioner for that. However, I'm happy to test you for more allergens!" During my appt, he also remarked to the med student shadowing him how his business has dropped because he's not doing as many sinus surgeries. He then tried to convince me take some allergy meds that I had denied in the past because of their high cost. Honestly, I felt like I had been used simply so he could get an office visit out of me. I missed work, had to pay for the office visit AND had to schedule an appt with my general Dr. just so I could seek some relief to my allergy-induced asthma. And, then, Dr. Hackett tried to up-sell me. If the receptionist knew I was coming in for asthma, and knew their office did not treat asthma, then why didn't she tell me that over the phone to save me some time and money? I have called the office twice to speak to their office manager so I could explain my frustration with the experience. Both times, I have been transferred to her voice mail. And, she has not called back. This office has no care for their patients. They simply want to make money off of you. I suggest you go elsewhere. read more

I have waited a bit before writing this review so it could be more complete. I had a procedure a year ago to remove a lipoma above my collar bone. It was purely cosmetic but I wanted to address it. My regular doctor referred me to Dr. Robert Youkilis at Northside ENT. Dr. Youkilis was very personable, did his examination, and let me know my options. He also let me know the procedure would take place a few blocks away at the Carmel Specialty Surgical Center. The surgery went well, lasted about an hour, and the scar is just a fine line and is practically invisible even though it is above my collar bone. More importantly, everyone at Northside ENT (receptionist, nurse, doctor) was very nice, efficient, and informative. The office arranged all of the coordination with the Carmel Specialty Surgery Center and let me know who my contact person was. I am not sure how they could have done anything better than they did. The staff at the Carmel Specialty Surgery Center was nothing short of phenomenal -- everyone from the receptionist to the accounts person to the prep nurse to the doctor and anesthesiologist to the nurse who took care of me in the recovery room. Everyone was very helpful and informative, let my wife and me know what would happen next, and made sure I was comfortable though the entire process. It had been years since I had had any kind of surgical procedure so I appreciated how well everyone involved did what they do. In my opinion it would be difficult for anyone to do it better. I couldn't recommend Dr. Youkilis, Northside ENT, and the Carmel Specialty Surgery Center more highly. First class! read more

Dr. Seth Bruggers is the best! I feel he really cares about his patients and takes the time to explain the issue, prescribe the best course of treatment and details expectations along the way which is both required and appreciated when dealing with pediatric patients. He performed the tubes surgery and follow up for my 18 month old. On the first visit, the office was busy and there was a long wait! I completed all paperwork in advance so showing up early was an unnecessary request by the staff and added to the wait. Once seen however, the care was good and detailed and immediate timeline sent for surgery. On the day of surgery, he was a pro and explained the process, findings and next steps. In a follow up, Dr. Bruggers and the staff were incredibly flexible, I showed up at 7:34 and was seen by 7:50 for an emergency appointment. The staff were kind efficient and accommodating and the Dr. Professional, efficient and detailed as always. Definitely recommend. read more

Dr. Beach has been a tremendous help in getting my health back in order. I had been suffering for months from chronic sinusitis before seeing him. After trying just about every antibiotics out there we decided that surgery was the best option for me. I had a deviated nasal septum, many of my sinuses were closed causing them to be inflamed and infected and I had post-nasal drip. The entire process went smoothly and I was back at work after about a week post-surgery. Dr. Beach and his assistants provided a lot of great suggestions and methods to recover quickly and stay healthy after my surgery. It has now been about 4 months after my surgery and I am feeling great and have had no issues at all. I had my last post-surgery check-up appointment and everything turned out the way I wanted it too. I can truly say that everyone involved at Northside ENT is committed to providing the best patient care possible. Some of the things that stood out to me was the easy new patient sign-up process, the reminder text messages about upcoming appointments, the friendly staff and the post-surgery follow ups. I was called up several times after my surgery to see how I was recovering and I really appreciated all the support and guidance that they provided along the way. Lastly, I want to emphasize Dr. Beach's expertise and patient care. He is a very personable guy and has a great way of explaining what exactly is going on without throwing a bunch of technical terms at you. Most importantly, the surgery performed by him was a complete success and got me back up on my feet and back to my regular routine within a few weeks. I would recommend him to anyone who has been having long-term sinus problems. read more

Worst office staff ever. There must be a shortage of competent staff as this office has the bottom of the barrel people working for them! Dr. Youkilis is wonderful! His medical assistant Tammy doesn't return phone calls. The receptionist could care less about a patient except to get your insurance cards. We walked out after being told to be at the office at a certain time. We drove 2 hours to get to the appointment and ended up walking out after waiting for over an hour. Dr. Seth Bruggers and Northside ENT are THE BEST around. My daughter had serious sore throat and it was getting worse. First stop St. Vincent clinic on Hazel Dell. Big fat mistake. Sent her out telling her she had a "virus". This is a girl who gets strep twice a year. Less than 24 hours later we ended up in ER because she could not swallow. They sent her out with penicillin and steroid. Three day later ended up at IU urgent care because her doc was not available. Doc there said definite infection may be abscess different antibiotic and steroid. Today phone call came in at work she is hysterical...cannot swallow hurts on one side of her face. I was desperate and called Northside ENT and BEGGED them to see her. They were able to get her in at 3PM. Dr. Brugger came in and took one look, said it was an abscess and explained the options. She was scared, crying, in pain and he was WONDERFUL. Oh I did not mention my daughter is in college. He told her to go at her own pace, if he was hurting her to punch him but he felt lancing it was the best option to recovery. He let her take her time with it and then stayed around until she was ready to go home. The office was CLOSED! I cannot thank him and this practice enough. read more

I don't usually post reviews at all, especially about an ENT. But today how I was treated, was very ridiculous. I feel like if I was white, I would have been treated better. I went to my appointment on time but had to get there 15 minutes earlier if my paperwork wasn't done....? And if you do it online you don't have to come early. I did it online and idk what happened but I guess it didn't go through to them?? And they said I was late 3 minutes and couldn't see the doctor. The front desk check in lady with round glasses today was so rude to me, I can't even imagine to explain my rage. Dr. Youkilis saved my life! He saw me when I was 8 months pregnant and had just had a malignant tumor on my tongue removed. He montiored me until I gave birth then removed positive margins from my tongue and later did a left neck dissection. I truly trust him with my life. If I could give 0 stars I would. I have never been treated more poorly than I was at Northside ENT by Dr. Hackett and his awful front desk staff on multiple occasions. Not only would I not recommend it, but if my family or friends had an appointment at Northside ENT I would strongly suggest that they visit Otolaryngology Associates (who are extremely friendly and accommodating) or any other Indianapolis ENT. My Experiences: Clearly unhappy front desk woman barks at you to sign in even when you are clearly already doing so quietly and have not said a word. (Most offices let you sign in and sit down quietly with no rude remarks) If you're running 2 minutes late, regardless whether you call ahead or not, they will send you away. If you are lucky they may tell you that you can have an appointment that is 40 minutes later so you sit and wait AND THEN get turned away. No concern or benefit of the doubt for anyone. You're not a patient, you're a number. Surgery is a serious matter and a patient has the right to be concerned, but if you seek a second opinion you can expect to be made very uncomfortable about it. read more

Beware! When you pay your bill online, there is no guarantee it will post to your account, and they will continue to send you duplicate bills, long after your bill has been paid. Also, if they refer you to another facility for MRI or biopsy, etc. they refer to people they know, and do not care about the patient's insurance coverage. They DO NOT CHECK whether it will be IN-NETWORK, and put all the responsibility on the patient to verify that your insurance coverage will be in effect. Even though I requested any referrals to be in-network, I was referred to an out of network provider, and was left on the hook" for a $1400 bill. read more
