We were in Weaverville visiting friends and made a special trip to Wisk AVL based on a recommendation from our daughter and I am so glad we did. my Cinnamon roll was easily the best one I've had in years since my grandma used to make them. After a sharing samples of several Whisk breads with a generous friend, I decided to swing by yesterday to pick up a fresh loaf of rosemary Parmesan. I stopped by on my way to a plein air paint out .. needing a cup of coffee. I was SO pleased with their coffee and, of course, I had to grab a wonderful homemade muffin. I chose the strawberry and cream cheese .. so good! I also talked to the owner about the sticky buns and sweet rolls. Guess I'll be back to sample those soon. I had black coffee with a shot of espresso. The coffee was fresh and clean tasting .. no burnt or bitter .. so obviously they take good care of their brewing machines. SO important in making good coffee. My coffee and muffin were about $5 !!! Good buy. This little building is kind of tucked under the hill on Smokey Mountain Highway .. right beside the car wash. Meg was a fantastic baker for our wedding cake!  First and most importantly, the cake was absolutely delicious! From the moment we took our first bite of our tasting we were sold. The hardest part was narrowing down our flavors because they were all so tasty. We wound up with pumpkin spice cake with cinnamon cream cheese, and dark chocolate cake with peanut butter filling. Meg was also able to provide some gluten free cupcakes for our guests with dietary restrictions.  Above and beyond that, it was an absolute pleasure to work with Meg. She always responded quickly and enthusiastically to our questions and inquiries, making the process so easy. We were planning the wedding from a few hours away as we live in Charlotte, and so it was important to have vendors we absolutely trust. After our cake tasting we knew Meg would be able to deliver a cake that tasted amazing and looked beautiful. We're looking forward to enjoying her treats more as we visit Asheville in the future. read more

Whisk is the tiny, whimsical little 'hut' on the side of the road that serves coffee beverages and baked goods. If some of the 'right people' people found out about Whisk, it would absolutely blow up into a National chain. I can't say enough good things about this place. The last time I was there visiting family, the man at the window was so friendly with such good energy about him, I couldn't help but buy a brownie, a coffee cake, a muffin, a cookie, a coffee, and a hot chocolate. And you know what, I have no regrets because it's just THAT good. They also have an Instagram where the owner (who does the baking) updates her selection daily, including all the ingredients she uses in her food. So with COVID going on most of my neighbors are stuck inside. For Easter, I decided I wanted to take them a treat basket . So I send an email and was quickly answered and my order taken. I paid via Venmo. It was very easy to pull up to the window as my order was already boxed and ready to go. If you want cinnamon buns the size of your head or decadent peanut butter bars with a scrumptious chocolate ganache this is your place. Nothing was disappointing. So happy I went with them for my wedding cake. I got a two tier naked cake, gluten free for $100. I added fresh flowers and a topper from Etsy. I found them through the elopement service I went with which included another cake. So I had three altogether but paid separately for the two tier cake as it was not included in my elopement package. See pics. The cake tasted fantastic. I had lemon, strawberry, and chocolate. The lemon and strawberry were so delicious. The chocolate was good but not the show stopper for me. I knew I wanted a simplistic wedding and had almost conceded to the notion that along with simple you forfeit extravagant taste. I met with meg a couple of times to discuss our wedding cake. The day finally arrived and I am happy to report that I got the simple naked cake that was more flavorful that any traditional cake you can imagine. I got compliments all night about how awesome the cake was and where I got it. Surprisingly the vegan cake was a smash too! (Yes, she makes a kickass vegan and gluten free cake that had my peta advocate guests ranting and raving!) and even though it was simple and clean it was also beautiful I will say this, we did a tasting and loved the cakes but the end result was so much better. The tasting doesn't do it justice and I don't know if it's because you are mixing flavors or what but the actual cake was beyond phenomenal! She also delivers the cake and sets everything up for you so you don't have to stress over anything. I don't plan on having another wedding anytime soon but if I had to I'd know exactly who to go to! read more

This is my new favorite bakery / coffee shop in AVL! It's a drive-thru, so you can either enjoy it in your parked car or take it home with you. Get their early because they sell out of their too items quickly! Their famous cinnamon roll is amazing. Usually bakery cinnamon rolls in my opinion are dry and have no flavor. This one is so soft and fresh. And they are meant to be shared because they are HUGE! We have also had one of their muffins and a peanut butter cookie and both were delicious as well. I've had a flavored latte and enjoyed it with the cinnamon roll. The man at the window taking orders is incredibly friendly and kind. I discovered that he is the father to the baker/owner. His pride for his daughter definitely shines through every time we place an order. I love this family owned business and plan to go every chance I get ! read more

The best cinnamon rolls ever! I thought West End bakery had the best cinnamon rolls in Asheville, but these are even better. All of the baked goods are delicious and the brewer's grain bread is awesome. So glad to have this in our area. Just wish they didn't run out of cinnamon rolls before I can get there. read more

Meg made the BEST cake. It was delicious and beautiful. Not only was she incredibly fun to work with (#1 cake tasting in town- believe me, I tried a bunch), but she was very reasonably priced and had already worked with my venue extensively. She handled all my special requests like fresh berries and adding a cake pull with ease. She already had our topper boxed up for us which made it easy at the end of the night.
