Took my grandkids out for ice cream today and we stopped at Whippy Dip. What a sweet little spot! The kids were thrilled with all the choices, and the staff was so patient while they decided. I had a vanilla cone dipped in butterscotch, just like I used to get years ago. We sat out front, enjoying the sunshine and making a bit of a mess, but that's half the fun. Classic looking old ice cream stand with a big window that you order at. It has all the ice cream flavors listed around it. There's often limited time specials so be sure to look it over. Lots of old school favorites. They have the dip cones and many sundaes. It also has a non dairy flavor of ice cream. The last time it was the vegan cookies and cream, which is made with almond milk. It's about $3.50 for a cup. This has lots of Oreo pieces. It doesn't have much outdoor seating, which is the one bad thing about it. Just eat in your car is one option. Flavored soft serve ice cream! Most places in my area serve frozen custard, but I prefer ice cream, so I was happy to try Whippy Dip on vacation last weekend. It took a few minutes for us to work our way through the line, but the ice cream was ready in just a couple of minutes--rather the opposite of similar establishments where you'll wait 10 minutes or more after ordering. Everyone enjoyed her ice cream. I got red velvet! With hot fudge! My one suggestion to Whippy Dip is to be open later than. 9 p.m. on summer Saturday nights. Nice treats off the beaten path. Will likely be back in the summer. Apparently they are open longer than many other establishments in the area. Tried the pizza thinner crust which we like, the sauce is great ( not sweet). This crust isn't floppy it holds it's own with just the right amount of cheese and pepperoni. This is true home style fresh ingredient pizza, so if you think you are getting a fast food pizza you are wrong , great pizza. Whippy Dip Ice cream Kingsville Ohio The Whippy Dip Ice Cream stand is just that, a small structure on the side of the road in Kingsville Ohio. They are open seasonally only, I don't think they have set days, its more of a "When we run out of customers" kinda thing. They serve soft serve ice cream with numerous toppings. Nothing really amazing about the ice cream itself, but they do have whimsical names and topping, such as the buckeye and star-burst. In the pictures you'll see Roma's favorite, the Bull ice cream bucket. This has brownies, hot fudge, caramel, whip cream, nuts, and cherries. You can see from the size that its really for two or more people, except in Roma's case. The smaller one is the "Buckeye", this is mine....REALLY IT IS! This has miniature buckeye chocolates, with peanut butter sauce, hot fudge and nuts. Both were creamy and rich, just what you would expect from an ice cream stand. In the middle of summer they can get quite the crowd and they have a very small parking lot, so be careful, the traffic off hwy20 can be dangerous. They kids working there are always polite, and service is prompt. Even when crowded, everyone is always there for delicious ice cream, good conversation and summer fun. read more

If you are looking for good banana split you CANNOT go wrong with the Whippy Dip! I recommend swapping the hot fudge for the regular chocolate sauce and the buttered, salted pecans instead of chopped peanuts. Delicious! They use real fruit in their fruit toppings so the strawberry and pineapple toppings are out of this world. The butterscotch and caramel toppings are fantastic also! And if you prefer your ice cream plain, you still won't be disappointed. It is delicious! Oh and the cake batter and brownie batter can't be beat because they put real cake and brownie mix in each, so it is an all around sensory treat. If you are looking for food, they have that too and I highly recommend the chili on their hot dogs. Great family run spot that will make you feel like family too! read more
