Every time I visit Grand Haven, I hit up Whippi Dip with family ! It is hands down one of my favorite ice cream places. The vibes just scream summer, with its chocolate drip paint decor across the roof, mini outdoor play park for kids equipped with swings, slides, playground, and hammocks of all colors. There are lots of benches in the grass area behind the store. I cannot say I have tried anything other than ice cream but it always hits the spot! I usually have a waffle cone with butter pecan but recently tried a Michigan favorite Deer Traxx which has fudge, chocolate, and mini peanut butter cups. Service can sometimes take longer than you think (even with a regular line) but it's a small business so it's understandable. They have a great outdoor seating area which has a kids playground, swings, benches in the grass area and some hammocks. read more

We love going out for ice cream! Whippi-Dip is our go-to! Jeff had a small hot fudge sundae - no nuts Andi was everything he wanted it to be. Made with soft serve vanilla and lots of hot fudge. I had a small Oreo Cheesecake Flurry. For some reason I thought it would have been cheesecake flavored ice cream. There was nothing that lead me to believe that, just my own thoughts I guess? The cheesecake was actually little chunks of cheesecake! They were REAL good. If I order that again I will probably have fruit or hot fudge instead of Oreos - personal preference. I'm here a couple times a week and am always happy, usually get the same thing. Today I placed an order and it didn't come out as usual. I had a very disappointing visit here today. The window girls were kind and friendly but very unhappy with the service. They forgot to give us our sloppy joes than when we told them it took another 10 minutes to get them while others after us kept getting their food. And the sloppy joes were on special. When they handed out the orders they just set out 2-3 orders at once for several customers and we had to, on our own, look In the bags to see what order belong to who. We live fairly close to here and used to frequent it quite often. In 2021 the service started getting bad and now in 2022 it is downright horrible. We have tried on a few occasions to give them another try and after tonight we will never be back. We will drive further down to fruitport and have ice cream at the one ice cream shop that is spectacular. They need to hire someone to manage these teenagers they have working. read more

I've always loved Whippi-Dip's pork barbeques and onion rings in the past. This season though it's obvious that their recipe on the BBQ's have changed. The bun is huge to disguise the lack of meat and the sauce was just on the bottom of the bun. There was less than half of the meat that the sandwiches used to have. Waited a long time to get my 2 flurries. 1 small that had no fruit as ordered. Second was a large flurries that was only 3/4 filled. I know Whippi-Dip seems to mostly market itself as an ice cream place, but holy crap, they've kinda got it goin' on with their American-style food! My wife and I revisited with our puppy in tow, and ordered fries (crispy and well cooked (a bit too much salt)), corn dog (deliciously cooked and thinly breaded), and sloppy dog (sloppy joe in hotdog form with onions and cheese SUPER GOOD). Anyway, long story short, I'll definitely be going back for their food, but the ice cream is more of an after thought and while it's perfectly acceptable, is the only reason I'm docking a star.
