Kilwins is, without a doubt, my favorite place to get ice cream. My heart decided on that 2 years ago and it hasn't changed ever since! My boyfriend and I frequently make day trips around the state and my first question is always "Does this trip involve ice cream?" I didn't know Kilwins was even in Grand Haven, so boy was I surprised when we walked right by! I was giddy knowing I was getting my favorite ice cream that day. This location does not having a public restroom and it definitely gets busy at sunset, which is to be expected in a beach town. Prices are similar to other Kilwins. 2 single scoops waffle cones run you about $10. They also carry a wide assortment of their famous chocolates and fudges so keep that in mind. I recommend the hazelnut truffle, which is so rich in flavor. My go-to ice cream is marshmallow s'more. I got my usual waffle cone and was slightly disappointed they didn't fill it very full. It definitely looked like maybe they didn't have enough ice cream to fill it like normal. If that was the case, simply ask if I want to add a different flavor or give me 50 cents off. Sadly, however, I paid almost $5 for a barely full waffle cone. I ended up throwing away the top of my cone so I could enjoy my ice cream. Waffle cones are fresh and always so tasty! Overall a great stop in Grand Haven! I'll be back next time! read more

Your typical Kilwins, delicious but overpriced. I was craving some fudge while on vacation in Grand Haven so we stopped by. Fudge is $10 per slice and I got a slice of the chocolate peanut butter, which was very tasty. Most of their business seems to be for ice cream but they also have truffles and Buckeyes and other treats that you can buy. I think they had a selection of gift items as well. Service was fast and I walked out with my fudge about five minutes later. there's also a small seating area outdoors if you want to eat your ice cream or other treats there. read more

I ordered the s'mores sundae, with the fudge brownie ice cream instead. It was delicious except for the hot fudge that got hard when it touched the ice cream making it incredibly chewy! Like I'm talking pull out a filling chewy. Otherwise, the ice cream was rich and luscious. The inside is cute with chocolate and fudge too. read more

Somebody suggested the turtle Sundae at a local ice cream parlor and I wasn't sure which one it was. After walking around a little bit we found this place and were just going to stop for ice cream. While I was standing in line I saw the sign that said our signature turtle Sundae and realize this must be the place!! Well it's satisfied my craving in every sense of the word!!! They start with a waffle cone in a bowl put in a few scoops of great vanilla ice cream. Then they take a big scoop of chocolate topping and a big scoop of looked like caramel topping. Then it look like either pecans or walnuts and whipped cream topping. So anyways I don't have a picture here to show you today because it looked so good we ate it down so fast we didn't even think about taking a photo!! It was definitely a five star Sundae and it cost nine dollars. But then again I got two spoons and we had a great portion for two of us!! read more

We were greeted by a bubbly girl who was very friendly. The counter service staff was helpful and accommodating when my husband could not decide on a flavor. My sons had blue moon and the lemon sorbet. My husband had the Kilwins tracks! All were great!!! The store was clean as well :) read more

I had the opportunity to attend Tri-City Ministries Counseling's fundraising event last week in beautiful downtown Grand Haven. I was fortunate in that I won a Silent Auction basket donated by this store. I now have moved Kilwins to the top of my "worth it" chocolate list. It's dangerously good. I later learned that this store was one of sponsors of TMC's extremely important event. We were so excited to see Kilwin's come to Grand Haven. It adds to the wonderful mix of businesses already here. The owners are incredibly kind and generous and are already volunteering and giving back to the community. Their staff is dedicated, hard working and also very involved in their schools and community. When it is busy and there's a line to get their ice cream, fudge, chocolates, caramel corn or any of their other great items... be patient, it's worth the wait. Matthew, and his sons Tyson and Charlie, are passionate about the Kilwins recipes and homemade treats. All the sweets in Kilwins Grand Haven are made by hand either on the marble table in the front window or at the Kilwins store in Petoskey, MI. Each chocolate is hand dipped and made special by the small team of confectioners. Our cooks have been with us since opening! The wonderful managers are part of the Grand Haven community!

Especially the waffle/pancake dishes that are similar to a super sweet dessert at 2000 calories. The last time I was there, the server was friendly, but because of the layout of the dining room, they have a hard time keeping an eye on the tables. So getting a coffee refill or a request for something becomes a waiting game. Overall the food is presented very well and is tasty.
