Unfriendly service, and undercooked chips they feel like your eating raw potatoes. Cold jumbo sausage. Wont be using this place again.

Wow, I still think the takeaway fish and chips are good. Have never been in the restaurant so can't speak to that experience.

We stopped off in Java while out for a day in Lytham St Annes and after doing all the usual fish…read moreand chips on the beach, walking the pier and perusing the local shops thought it would be nice to stop in at this nice looking coffee shop. The appealing part was that it was super hot and we could sit outside (probably about 30 covers) and within a few minutes the young waiter came and took our order. I managed to fight the temptation to go for a Pimms (trying to have a non-alcohol day - mission accomplished!) and went for an Appletiser while my wife had an iced coffee and sister in law had a soft drink. Nothing massively great or poor about this place really, seemed fairly reasonably priced and a lovely place to take a load off. We did though think some of the staff were a little strange (quite a few customers seemed to think this too judging by their faces) and possibly had had a heavy night the night before (not really there...) I'd go back to Java again as long as we can get a nice seat outdoors!

Looking for somewhere to grab a leisurely coffee and take the load off, we came across Java in a…read moresmall open square in Lytham. It was a boiling hot day so the fact that they had seats outside so we could soak up the rays was a major plus point. We'd already enjoyed fish and chips on the beach so didn't look at the food menu but from what I could gather they offer a mix of lunch options alongside more substantial 'bistro' type main meals. As it was super hot I was really in the mood for something cold and refreshing and unfortunately as I was driving the jugs of Pimms they had on offer had to be ignored. Instead I decided to try and go off menu and requested an iced coffee. It took a couple of attempts to get our waiter to comprehend I wanted to order something that wasn't on the menu but to give him his dues once he did he was happy to do it and brought me back a lovely tall and icey Americano. If Java was in Manchester I probably wouldn't frequent it often as it's not really my type of place, just a little bit too middle of the road in style for me but undoubtedly suits Lytham and the older middle class visitors that this pretty town generally receives. If I happen to be visiting Lytham again though I'd happily return.
