The seafarer is a great little fish and chips shop/restaurant close to the beach front on St Annes. Basically there's the more formal sit in restaurant where everything is more expensive and it's more the blue rinse brigade, then on the other side there's a pretty cool takeaway shop with outdoors seating (you'll have to be quick though - more blue rinsers and families jumping into the seats on peoples laps while people are still sat at them) We got takeaway because quite frankly why not live the dream and eat on the beach (5 mins walk away) and because we're so hardcore that why not the run of risk of getting some sand in your mushy peas! What I was really impressed with was the value of these dishes. We had 2 haddock, one large chips, large mushy peas and a buttered barm for £11 - not bad at all! Like everything in life though they get you on the extras - 20p a sachet for ketchup and 5p for a large fork - daylight robbery ;-) A great day out at the seaside and a really enjoyable fish and chips meal! read more

We've been to this place many times whilst visiting family and you'll notice like us on every occasion it's a hive of activity and usually rammed out, It's obvious from the outset that this place is a well run family establishment serving 'Proper food' with portion sizes Adam Richman would be proud of (yes that's the bloke with a bottomless pit of a stomach off MAN v FOOD) I ordered Fish & chips 5 times and it made me chuckle when I heard the head fryer comment to the owner (maybe his own father) on how he was struggling to fit the fish in the fryer they were that big and boy was he busy at the time dealing with both orders from the Takeaway and the restaurant to the side. After being served we headed off to the families garden whilst enjoying a cracking days sunshine and food to match All I can say to the owners of this place is Keep on doing what you're doing! The food was lovely, but I have NEVER been so embarrased in my life. It was a gorgeous day. Packed to capacity and we were lucky enough to get a table out side. My hubby went in to the restaurant and they said we had to go indoors to eat. we said no ta so he went into the takeaway side of the restaurant.Same company. Out he came with lovely fish and chips. I popped into the restaurant for salt and vinegar. Took them back indoors when we had used them and then I went back indoors for a knife and fork.Cant eat with those piddling little forks from the take out side. Out came little hitler. 'You cant use the cutlery if you are eating outside' He stood and waited until I emptied my fork and hubby and I had to give them and the serviette back to him.!!!!! Everyone was staring at us. I felt so awful. That was so petty. I apologised to him and it took me ages to eat with the 'fork' thingy from the takeaway. People around me came up to us and asked what was going on.
