Tow driver that came out had an attitude when I asked for a flatbed tow truck as my BMW had a "drivetrain" error code and I didn't want to risk damaging it with a traditional tow. He told me he would have to talk to his supervisor from his truck, so I waited for an explanation on how best to tow my car but he drove off without speaking to me. Scared of women I guess. Wheelers has performed excellent repair on both my 1989 Porsche 944S2 and my 2008 MazdaSpeed 3. If you need work to be performed on a Porsche, ask for Todd, even if you have to wait a couple weeks before he has availability in his schedule. He is fantastic with Porsche cars and has done great work on my old 944, including his most recent work where Wheelers had to tow my car to their shop because it wouldn't start. Compared to the Porsche dealer, you will save a LOT of money, and, more importantly, they won't replace parts or do work unless it has to be done. I called AAA one morning when I got stuck on the Merritt Pkwy with a flat one morning recently - quarter mile from the exit. AAA said Wheelers would contact me when driver was on the way. They knew I was in a dangerous spot off the road with no shoulder. an hour and a half later, after 3 calls to AAA, (yes 90 minutes) AAA finally switched over to Mike's Auto. Turns out they use fake parts from China. Brought my Camry in for a tune-up. The price seemed high, but I needed to get back to Mass as my check engine light came on. I was sold bad plugs according to Midas in Webster mass who looked over the car because I had a burning smell. Not only were they knockoffs from China, but they also forgot to tighten my oil filter and almost had complete motor failure!! I was Cha $275 to repair my back breaks ! On WHALLEY Avenue it's $69 , bring your own breaks . Then taking to WHALLEY Avenue , they removed the back brakes and the rotors were needed . I paid $250 for my oil change and my car wasn't driven long enough to need oil . It was never put in after the first oil change they gave me . This auto shop was the only shop to work on mommy car . My truck broke down on 91 north. I immediately looked for towing companies in the area. I found Wheeler's online and called them. They were there within 25 minutes to tow my box truck which I use everyday for work. I explained to them that I need repaired asap or else I would need to rent a truck for work. Not only did they repair it within a day after the parts arrived they were in constant communication with me to let me know what was going on. I have never used them before but I will from now on. I am writing about our experience when we paid our bill at Wheelers Auto. The guy behind the desk did not give my his husband his 86 cents change. My husband asked the guy politely to "round up" our change and the guy dumped a dunkin donuts cup of change in front of us and said "I don't deal in change." Some of the change got thrown out of the cup hitting the floor and me. He then said take it all! I asked him the name and number of the owner and he said, "I am the owner." I walked out shocked and in disbelief questioning humanity and how one can treat someone in that way? I recently got into a car accident and AAA towed my car to Wheelers Auto Service. When I had the choice to either tow my car to another auto service that worked directly with my insurance company, or keep it there, I took the chance. I had been searching for a small business mechanic that was trustworthy for a while since I moved and had not found one yet. Although it did take them three weeks to fix and return my car, it unfortunately was during the holiday season. Each time I spoke to Paul on the phone, he was polite and to the point- my type of mechanic. I appreciated the fact that he did have a business to run and did not have time to butter me up, the ultimate goal for both he and I was to finish my car. Perfect. When I did pick my car up, all of the staff were polite and respectful. I needed a new hood and repairs and replacements to a few parts within, along with a new paint job. The gentlemen who worked directly on my car, Orlando, walked around the car with me and explained all of the work he did on my car. He was very patient with me as I am not a mechanic and had tons of questions. He answered and explained everything to me and ensured that, by any chance something was not correct in the next few days, to come back and he would take care of it. They not only mistakingly towed my car because they didn't bother to find out the license plate number, but when I called to ask about what had happened they offered no apology, no acknowledgement that they had done anything unusual or wrong, and were extremely rude to me. Towed my car from my apartment parking lot for no reason and forced me to pay $175 in cash because his store was "closed" so he didn't accept cards. I had to go all the way to the bank to get cash and wait over an hour and a half for him to arrive to the store. Do you just tow people's cars to make money? They towed my truck from hamden to Clinton 3/13/2017through AAA the driver said to me as he got there to tow my truck . I hate using the flatbed he does not use to often . ( my truck is 4 wheel drive so requires flatbed or dollies) The guy over tightened the j hook on the winch and bent my axle shaft by hooking the axle shaft rather than lower control arm while chaining down on flatbed Totally bent my axle shaft . They/ adjuster (through AAA ) came out and looked at it . 2 days later .-/Said it was bad tire ,,,Told me to put on spare tire and call them and let them know if it fixed it by putting spare tire on guy did not have time to wait for me to change tire ??? . He told me if still a problem they would bring to Guilford Texaco ( aaa repair facility ) to have it checked ,,, never returned my phone calls and left me hanging ..--- called all week no return call from so called adjuster. I returned call to AAA they told me to contact Paul the manager -3/29/2017 I call and talked to Paul (manager) he told me to bad not going to even look at truck again ,the truck had a bad tie rod end . ---The adjuster said it was a bad tire ??? . Paul the manager in not a nice way said he is not fixing anything I am on my own . I repaired it myself at a cost of $400/ parts with out labor cost for me . What does a bad tie rod have to do with hooking the axle shaft and bending it rather the rite way of hooking lower control arm ( need to train that young driver better )making me go without a vehicle for over a week . That I had to repair myself Don't use this place , very unsafe towing practices and probably mechanics that don't know what they are doing --said it was caused by bad tie rod ??? The guy that came to fix my flat tire was super nice. But he wouldn't touch my spare tire because he said the tube attached that you can use to check the pressure was rusted to the tire's valve and therefore he couldn't get it off without breaking it off, rendering the tire useless. (To save room, the tire is attached under the back end of the car. You can test the pressure without removing it.) He tried just once to unscrew it. I asked him to try again and he refused. He told me to go to the dealer to get my spare fixed. So instead I went home and sprayed some WD40 on it and guess what, the tube came right off! I'm glad I didn't listen to his advice. The only reason I'm giving a good score is because the guy was so nice. He was even pleasant after I asked him rudely to try harder--I mean he literally looked at it once and gave up, plus I was quite exasperated after waiting for three hours! read more

I too am writing in regards to a billing dispute at this business. When I realized my car had been towed by this company, I called to see how much it would cost for me to reclaim it. Over the phone I was passed along to at least 3 different employees all of whom were unable to provide me with a quote. I was given price ranges from 120-150 dollars. Finally I received a price and went to claim my car. When I got to the establishment, the manager asked ME how much it cost. I replied by saying I didn't remember the exact amount and asked him how much he had written down. He then asked me again how much it was going to cost. I insisted I didn't remember since I was given a few prices over the phone. He then asked me how much cash I had in my hand and to just give that to him. I responded by saying no, and again asked for a price quote. At this point, the manager pointed to his employee behind him and said, "If he had answered the phone for you it probably would have been $30." Instead, I was charged $148.62. Looking at the receipt of charges that I was given, the total comes to $123.62. Frankly, I am appalled at the condescending behavior and shady business practices of the manager at this place. I must commend his employee who has to deal with him, because that employee was polite and tried to be helpful. I feel obligated to share this experience as a warning to other patrons. read more
