We've had the beach bikes on our "bucket list" for a while, so we'd planned in advance to be there…read morewhen it opens to enjoy a longer ride with the bikes. They are open based on the tides - which is clearly important! So that was great to read on their FB page. Each day changes with time - due to the tide, so be aware and plan accordingly. We went on a Thursday, hoping to avoid major crowds - while it was very crowded in the town we arrived at opening time and were able to get in and out very quickly. We arrived at the store, my son went ahead while I parked. There is a public parking directly across from the store which is an amazing find - just be sure you get there early enough to get a spot. I was concerned it would be a long line with the new COVID restrictions and 1 person at a time in the store. However they were very fast and very efficient. They provided simple but precise instruction, clear in their communication on how to use the bikes and explaining everything to look out for on the beach. Ensured my taller son had a bike that fit him - it did and it was perfect. I had a beach bag that I wanted to take but there is no place to put it, they offered a back pack which was a huge help and bonus - talk about customer service support. The back pack saved me as was easy to place on my front so I had provisions for the kiddos. We rented the recumbent beach bikes, you have to carry them to the beach but it's super easy. Just follow their instructions. It will take a few minutes to get a handle on how to move your body with the bike - there is no hand steering, it's all through you body which is a great core workout :-) I think it's a fantastic experience for the young and old. The bikes we had were well oiled in and good functioning order, we had no issues with the bikes although my younger child was tired before we made it to the end of Cannon Beach so it took a while getting back. If you are taking it to enjoy the tide pools it's an easy there and back. My 11 year old got tired a bit earlier than my older son and I. They do have kids carrier attachments which is awesome if kiddos are younger. But I think if you make it an easy ride, an enthusiastic younger child could manage the beach bike a short distance. I'd plan for extra reinforcements like cool drinks and something to sustain a 1 1/2 to 2 hour ride and adventure on the beach. Since it was a good sunny day - sunscreen and hats are best. Prices were completely reasonable and totally worth it - ours was $20 for 90 minutes with some grace period to get to and from the beach. They were excellent all around. I'd highly recommend this and we will absolutely do this again.

Rented a swan boat and the process was quick and easy. My 12-year-old had fun steering! One star…read moreoff for price. They really needed a $25 for half hour option. And they'd make more money per hour!

I wish I could tell y'all how great this experience was! I had been looking forward to this…read moreexperience as we were only going to be in town for 2 nights. Unfortunately, this was not to be the case. Upon arrival, the swans looked tired and decrepit. This should have been my first sign. My second sign should've been the no refunds sign. However, I trucked along and rented one of the swans. Immediately, I noticed something was off. The swan was broken in places. At $42 an hour you'd expect the owner to maintain proper maintenance of his golden swans. Off we went! I asked the person I was with to steer left as there was another boat coming at us. Please steer left. STEER LEFT!!! Luckily, the other boat driver had a properly functioning swan. Phew. Anyway another near miss with one of the bridges and we decided it was best to head back. mind you it was about 10 mins one way and about 10 mins back. We come back and I'm trying to make the best of the situation and laughed as we struggled to put the swan in it's parking spot. Not an easy feat when you cant steer left... and the parking spot is on the left! Then, came the part where I said to myself, "I'm sure they're reasonable people.. right?" Wrong. First, I asked the nice girl manning the stand if I could just get another swan and restart my time as the other one clearly didn't work. She said she'd have to ask. I said well that feels like a hassle, can I please just get a refund or even a partial refund since technically I used the malfunctioning boat. Again she said no. At this point I asked if there was someone she could ask and she said Pat. She gave me his number; I introduced myself and then explained the situation to him. He said it couldn't be his plucked swans! It must've been the current, and the wind, and the stars above. I explained that the issue was going one way and coming back so that was hard to believe the issue was the wind or the current, but maybe not the stars. At this point, he had the girl check the rudder and sure enough. One way it closed all the way and the other it only got about 45 degrees before giving out. Again, I asked if I could get another hour on a different boat, a full refund, or at the very least a partial refund. He said NO. At this point my flabbers were gasted! In the end he allowed the girl to give me a raincheck for a bike rental. Idk how this was different from what I had asked to just get another swan but maybe he knew most of his swans were cooked, and didn't want me finding another dud. (BTW they never marked the swan or made any comment about looking into it. Rent at your own peril) This story is already long so I'll wrap it up quick. He expected me to take a loss of 10 dollars for two bikes instead of making it right for his customer and let me get two ebikes. (his worker had given me 2 tickets for two bikes so I was under the impression it was for two bikes). I asked him to refund the difference and of course... he said.. No. In the end, my trip was ruined, and I paid $42 to be traumatized. TL;DR Swan doesn't turn left, owner refused rental of another swan, refund, or partial refund, instead gave me two rainchecks for bikes and then didn't honor the two bike rental rainchecks. Rent the swans at your own peril.
