Beautiful beach for our visit in September. We walked at low tide in the morning along the beach and saw many marine species and lots of birds.

Such a nice place to take a walk during sunset! Crashing waves, beautiful colors, and sand between your toes... such a beautiful end to a day. Great place to relax and soak in the beauty of nature.

I've been coming to Seaside for the entirety of my 40+ years on this Earth, and it feels like nothing has changed the entire time. Now, I know that's not true. Some businesses in town have come and gone. Others have had a facelift. But the promenade walk, and the beach itself, is unchanged. Long after I'm gone, I'm sure it will remain the same. There's something comforting in the nostalgia that comes with returning to a place from one's childhood, and finding it to be exactly as remembered. I guess that's why I keep coming back, year after year, even though there are better beaches in the PNW and, of course, elsewhere in the world. Warmer ones, for sure, anyway! Still, the familiar, looming silhouette of Tillamook Head, the seemingly limitless stretch of white sand in either direction, a brisk wind whipping sand in your face, and the endlessness of the deep blue stretching out ahead of you...yeah, there is something magical about this place. The old, and the new, existing in the same place, simultaneously. A glimpse of eternity, perhaps. Memories frozen in time. I hope it never changes.

Great spot to get married! Surfer area with lots of waves and a rocky beach. Get some chowder in town!

It feels weird to give a beach three stars but I'm including the vibe of the town that is connected to the beach and comparing it to neighboring beaches like Cannon Beach. I know it might sound harsh but this beach reminds me of a tired and sleepy version of an old Florida or New Jersey beach. It didn't have the outdoorsy / Oregon vibe you picture- the buildings needed some TLC and the promenade along the beach drew a crowd that seemed less concerned about COVID safety precautions. I will say the promenade and benches along it we're ideal for people watching or enjoying a sweet treat. It's also convenient that this beach is adjacent to the Lewis and Clark historic sea salt production site. This path is full of beautiful paths leading down through the grass bluffs and along the ocean. Overall, if you're short on tune, I'd suggest going with Cannon Beach for a little more charm and space next door.

    It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life, For meeee!!

Seaside Oregon!! Isn't that just the perfect name for a beach side town? Well, I'll tell you what...Seaside has got all the qualities of a what a great small beach town on the Oregon Coast should have. I myself am a born and raised SoCal boy who has had the privileged of living so close to so many beautiful Southern California beaches in my lifetime, but there is definitely something special about the Oregonian Coastline. My sister who lives in the Suburbs of Portland happens to have a beautiful beach house just two blocks from the water and every time we come up to Oregon, we usually head to the coast for a few nights during our stay. The approximate 1 hour trip via highway 26 is an absolutely stunning drive. You literally drive through farmland, then through the mountainous roads all while being surrounded by the Clatsop State Forest. Once you arrive to the coast, get ready to have a blast in the quaint little town of Seaside. The town has candy shops, Antique stores, a carousel, funland entertainment center arcade, ice cream shops, restaurants, specialty shops, and a great boardwalk to walk along the beach. A short drive to neighboring Cannon Beach to the south and Astoria to the north, this small beach town has beautiful cliffs overlooking the beach with sunsets and sunrises that will blow your mind. Fun fact: The Tillamook Cheese Factory is only an hour from Seaside and is a must stop if you're a cheese lover or a fan of Ice cream. Take the tour, you won't regret it!

My son found a lot of little treasures like broken mussel shells

What a nice beach! Unlike the Southern California and Bay Area California beaches that I know, this beach had a large plateau area of flat, wet sand with a thin layer of water still left on it. It gave the beach a beautiful glassy look. It also seemed to give the kids a lot of critters to easily dig up! The kids made little pools of water in the sand and suddenly you'd see a few tiny translucent and striped shrimps swim around in their pools. My son also very easily dug up a mini mussel, which we watched flip around and use its foot to try to get one of the shrimps it was with. When we put the mini mussel back into the sand, we saw it flip itself vertical, then dig itself down. We also saw a seagull suddenly snatch up a giant mussel for a meal. Overall Seaside is a cute town, and parking was pretty easy to find for two cars. We really only played on the beach and walked around, we didn't stay to shop or eat. But we really enjoyed our short stop here.

If Cannon beach is the main tourist attracting beach in Oregon , Seaside would be categorized as the one that lures in more locals . The beach itself is always busy , even on cold winter afternoons and there is a lot of stuff around to entertain kids and adults -Restaurants , candy shops, Antique stores, a carousel, An arcade, a famous ice cream store . There's also a swing set and volleyball net right next to the promenade. The boardwalk is good for people watching or just a leisurely walk ,in case you do not like the idea of walking on the sand . I recommend looking for a rental home a little further away from the beach because the hotels/building lining the walkway look old and run-down. Great spot to look at Fireworks on the 4th of July but the traffic can get really insane so be cautious of that .

Beach vacations are my favorite kind of vacations. I think Seaside is just as good as any other cute, little town you can stay in where the beach is. We rented an Airbnb right in seaside and were a one minute walk to the beach. The beach was clean (aside from quite a few dead crabs that were washing in from the birds pecking and feasting on them in the water) and the sand was soft. I loved Main Street in seaside; I thought it was quaint and all the locals/workers we talked to were nice. We ate at several restaurants and enjoyed our interactions at each one. A lot of the buildings in the town itself seemed a bit run down, but I think that's part of the charm of beach towns, don't you? Lots of history here. We flew into Seattle to spend a few days there, so staying in Seaside for a week after that was perfect. With seaside only being 3 hours from Seattle and 1.5 hours from Portland, Seaside was the perfect place to stay if you wanted to do a couple day trips to the big city. It was also nice to explore other beaches in northern Oregon, as they were all really close (ie Cannon beach, Hug Point, etc.). It's also only an hour drive to Tillamook....cuz who doesn't love ice cream?!!! I'm glad we stayed in seaside. It never felt overcrowded. We stayed in northern seaside and it couldn't have worked out more perfectly.

Recently I took my husband here for a mini weekend vacay with our daughter and dog. My husband loved this beach and was truly surprised of how much he liked it here. The beach was very clean and spacious. One thing I appreciated was that there were many stores and restaurants around the beach area to shop or eat at. This made it convenient when we wanted to grab a bite or just look for some souvenirs. It was my first time bringing our dog that we adopted earlier this year, so I was nervous at first how it would be bringing him along. To my surprise there many other fur babies there too! My dog loved the sand and I am pretty sure it was his first time in the beach. The day we visited, there were volley ball nets up and people playing. I'm not sure if it was some sort of tournament but it was interesting to watch. We are already planning to come back again in the near future.

Came here and no one is around. Of course its cold. Why would there be people around here on a foggy cold day. There is the option of going to either Cannon beach or here. Most people would choose Cannon Beach of course. Well I think I picked the wrong time to walk around. Mostly a shoreline walk. Its still quite nice. But not as nice as Cannon Beach.

I made the mistake (twice!) stopping by Seaside for a visit heading south. There is this one street that is lined with small shops that lead to the beach. Both times I visited, that entire street reeked of trash, beer and fresh puke. Shops and restaurants weren't up to par with anything worth checking out. Not wasting much more time writing this as I may barf from reliving past aforementioned aromatic memories. Note: once you get to the beach, it's a bit windy and great for kites, okay as a beach. But for me, it's the journey AND the destination.

From the moment I arrived, I knew this was the spot to have bonfires. The beach itself is wide and inviting, and Haystack Rock towers out of the ocean just off the shore, a stunning icon that draws everyone's eye. But it's not just the shoreline that makes Cannon Beach special. You can walk along the neighborhoods and enjoy the cute little shops. Downtown is small but charming. I loved walking through the artsy streets filled with galleries, specialty shops, and cozy cafés. I was able to slow down away from city life, shop for a handmade memento, and sit with a latte watching the waves. On a breezy afternoon, I saw people flying their kites and took advantage of the open beach breeze, so fun to watch. If you want a beautifully scenic beach getaway that's both peaceful and inspiring, Cannon Beach is absolutely worth a stop.

There are tons of access points to the beach, but the easiest is to park in the Haystack Public Parking lot and walk across the street, past the public bathrooms and homes, and you're immediately in front of Haystack Rock. Besides Haystack Rock, Canon Beach itself was kinda boring to me though. The long stretch was rockless and smooth, just sand and ocean horizon. My preference is to see more boulders and rocks to keep things interesting. This beach is excellent for runners, though, because of the smooth sand and long stretch. There were a lot of people clustered around Haystack Rock, but less dense further on. If you're looking for seashells, there are none. The sand is super smooth all the way. It is a nice beach but not too many people hang out here, which is great if you're local. For the most part, we saw people come to see the Rock and then leave.
