Fantastic shop that goes above and beyond to help their customers. I grew up in the area and first started riding in middle school, and this has been my go-to bike shop for almost 10 years now. The staff is always very friendly and helpful, and the management really cares about the customers. I've been in needing a last-minute repair, or a special order on a hard-to-find part, and the people have gone out of their way to help me get what I need. I walked in and received great help from George, an older acquaintance of my fiance from triathlon when they were in college. He helped me pick out aerobars for my bike that I will be using triathlon this season. I told him that I was going to poke around the bikes for a minute before checking out. Perfect! I was looking at a Trek Madone 9.2, an expensive bike but nothing I can't afford. Jerry walked up to my fiance and myself and asked if we needed anything and we responded "I think we're just poking around, this is a beautiful bike". He didn't make conversation, took the bike out of my hands, leaned it up against the rack and walked away. Instead of telling him that I was disappointed in his: 1. Lack of enthusiasm that I am looking at purchasing an expensive item in the store 2. That his awkward approach in asking how serious I was about buying a bike(which I have been asked in the store before, causing me to purchase my bike from Erik's bike shop) 3. Overall lack of concern about my need as a customer I chose to put the $140 aerobars back and will be getting them online and probably saving some money. Once again, I am reminded why I shop at Eriks for serious dollar purchases. read more

I have been going to Wheel and Sprocket (Appleton and Milwaukee) for more than 20 years. Frequently used the Appleton store to service my bikes. Knew many of the people there from competition/rides and always found them knowledgeable. Always had good, extra-mile, service. I now live in Milwaukee and brought my full suspension bike to the Fox Point store to have the rear shock serviced. Was told by Pete, the mechanic, that Fox no longer supports that shock. Was given the options of rebuilding the shock through Fox ($200+), or installing a new shock ($250-400+). Directed them to get the measurements needed for a new shock. Mechanic informed me he would look for a new shock (for a fee, not a problem). Picked up my bike after 3 weeks of waiting. No measurements were ever taken- and the (different) mechanic that delivered my bike clearly had no idea how to properly measure either. The measurements would obviously be needed to find a new shock, which the mechanic charged me $31.68 for... never done. Mechanic also informed me he couldn't find a replacement option (took me all of 30 minutes on my own). Tough to do when you have no idea what you are looking for, right? Picked up my bike, ordered the $15 rebuild kit, from Fox, while sitting in the parking lot. The kit I was assured didn't exist. Kit arrived 4 days later, 15 minutes, and a Fox youtube video later, brand new shock. Needless to say I won't be using their service department again. Utterly clueless. Very disappointing. read more

The guys at this shop did not want help at all and did not want my business. I had called ahead to let them know that I was coming to do the ToAD and they had said to come in as soon as I got in and they'd put my bike together. When I got there they said that they wouldn't be able to help for the next 10 days. Terrible customer service! I would not recommend!!! read more

Large store with a great selection and friendly staff! They were very helpful in finding everything I needed for my bike and the staffer who assisted me gave suggestions on which kind of bike lock I should buy. Their prices are good too and I ended up paying just about what I would online for a bike lock, tube, mounted pump and chamois butter. read more

I was not expecting such poor customer service! I was approached by someone and ask them about buying something I did not see. He told me he would check for me and promptly walked away and started working the cash register ignoring me completely. I wanted to give them a chance to hp me but was not offered any assistance again! Vary poor service. I wi not be retuning again ever. read more

Twice now I've called for a tune-up. Once in the Spring, and again today. My wife and I bought bikes from them in Spring of 2012, and along with the purchase we bought a package that included 5 free tune-ups. What they failed to tell us is that the tune-up package was only good for off-season times, so this spring we were SOL on getting our bikes tuned up without being charged full price. Really? What good was the purchase it it's only honored when they feel like honoring it? I understand they're busy, but if you want to keep customers you don't sell them one thing and give them another. I called again today, after being told last spring that August started their "off-season", and lo-and-behold, now "off-season" starts in September. Plus, if I want a tune-up now, there's a 10-day wait list, which would technically take me into September, but making an appointment now would mean being charged full-price. I live much closer to Bikesmiths on Locust, and every time I've had an issue with my bike they've been extremely attentive and looked at it right away, even taking other bikes off their bike stand that they were working on. Now that's service! W&S has the same feel as if you were going to a big auto dealer. It's all about making the initial sale and then forgetting about the customer. I'd rather have the personalized attention of Bikesmiths or Cory the Bike Fixer, even Crank Daddy's, all closer to me anyway, than to have to deal with the impersonal attitudes at W&S. I'm still going to get my bike tuned-up there, though, in the winter when it's hopefully their actual "off-season" (since they seem to change that whenever they feel like it)... since I paid for it. I'm just dreading dealing with them again. read more

So, it has been MANY years since I have been on a bike that is not in a gym. I decided to get a bike for the spring/summer so that I can get some exercise and also as a mode of transportation. I did some internet research and was completely and totally overwhelmed. That is not good for a person who is already clueless. I knew that I needed to go somewhere and have somebody help me. I went to this place because it is close and they have a great selection. When I walked in, I had no idea what I was looking for. The salesperson was so helpful, had a great sense of humor, and spent A LOT of time with me. He had no small task in helping me to find a bike, but he went over all of the options with me. He was asking me questions that I had never thought about, and also asking me questions that I had no answer to. He had me sit on a few bikes and explained so many things to me. I had no idea that buying a bike would be so intense. After I decided on the bike, I had to get a helmet. He was just as knowledgeable and helpful with buying a helmet as he was with the bike. I needed a few other things and he knew everything about every little thing that I asked for. I think that I spent about an hour and a half there. Once I paid for everything, he went over how the bike works and how to take the front wheel off. He also said that I will need to bring it back in for adjustments as the bike gets broken in and informed me that the bike gets worked on while I wait. One very impressive thing about this place is that their number one priority is customer satisfaction. If you buy a bike from there and ride it around for a month or two and you just don't like it or enjoy riding it, you can take it back and they will give you a different one that will hopefully solve the reasons that you don't like it. All in all, it was an awesome experience. The people are super duper knowledgeable and friendly, and also real genuine people, and not like a typical salesperson. Because I waited until the last minute to purchase a bike rack for my new car, I started dialing for help late on a Sunday afternoon and ran across W&S Fox Point location. To be honest, their Hales Corner location suggested I call Fox Point because they only sold Yakima racks and did not have what I needed in stock. In short, Mathew did not only help me construct and offer suggestions for the proper Thule bike rack, he also provided the model numbers so his competitor would get it right! And by the way, the only reason I went to their competitor was because I literally waited until the last minute as we are leaving for Colorado this evening and they close at 4PM which left me no time to get there! i got all the parts and started to build the bike. it's SIIIIIICK! exactly what i wanted. unfortunately, however, they sent two back brakes. since i'm only planning on running a front brake, that's no bueno. the simonster hates delayed gratification. oh well. wheel & sprocket is shipping out a front brake right away, and including a return label for the extra back brake. still great customer service. and honestly i'm a bit amazed that this was the only mistake out of the entire box of parts. every other part was the right size/color, which is awesome. -1 star for making the simonster sad. boo hoo. poor simonster. read more

I have been waiting on a bike to be shipped for a week now and it finally left their shop today. I do not recommend this shop for bike shipping. Here's a rundown of the problems: -They tried to charge my friend $100 more than the price they advertised on their website. It was only when he pulled it up that they adjusted the price to reflect what was on the website. -When I called on Saturday, I talked to a couple of different people. Finally, the woman who answered said it was packed and ready to be shipped on Monday. -When I called the following Monday, the man who answered said it was the first he heard of the bike being shipped (a full six days after the bike was supposed to be shipped). -Today (Thursday) the shipping company's tracking website said the bike would take 3 more business days, which means it will have taken a full 12 calendar days to get to me when Wheel and Sprocket's website said it would only take 2 business days. All in all, I don't mind a short delay. But a full 12 days for something to arrive is unacceptable. read more

I thought to my self..."self, one should not venture on such a quest absent the only air, as you may find such lies only between ones ears!". Soooo, i yelped it up and found these guys. They were about 6 miles away and joking with Mike (one of three at the store today) i advised that would pedal fast and see him shortly, or as such was the case...take a leisurely stroll around fox point! Dan, Jon, Bunkie, and Paul all have specific experience in road, mountain, and urban riding at all different levels of experience. They will work with you to find the right bike. I picked up my third fourth bike from Jon this past month after a pro fit by Phil. The bike is incredible (Madone 7.0) and the comfort (Guru Fit) on the bike has made the experience darn near perfect. Now I'm trying to get faster. read more

I asked that the item be packaged such that it would not bounce around in shipping. Unfortunately, the item was shipped with no protection, and was damaged by being banged around in shipment. I communicated with the merchant, but they lied about the packaging, and that they had packaged everything with paper to protect the item. Not true! Avoid this merchant. read more

Great shop. When I went to get my 12 year old road bike back into riding shape and get a new bike rack for it they were completely helpful with candid advice about saving my existing bike vs buying a new one (they were able to get my existing one repaired and back in excellent shape) and helped me attach my new bike rack to my car. Then, a year later when a driver rammed my bike rack and ruined it they kindly helped remove the old one and reinstall a new one. I will continue to go to this shop for all of my biking needs! read more

That said, the sales manager who helped me once called, apologized for messy service, and cleared things up. That's a good sign and I'd give them another chance.
