OMG-I stopped in to see if you guys had a part for my Quintana Roo. Chris knew it wasn't a stock part so he looked it up and told me it would be easier/quicker for me to order it myself. He had me take a pic of the website, write down what I needed so I was set, but then he said-Why don't I take a quick look over your bike since you are here. Well, I have had a little trouble shifting so he checked the chain-it was super worn and needed replaced, then he noticed the derailleur hanger was loose. He installed the chain tightened the bolt and then fine tuned the shifting. I am SO glad I stopped in. He was very knowledgeable and we had a great conversation about traveling with bikes (which is why I wanted the back-up part). I am so glad I stopped in! I will be back. read more

I tried out an e-bike on a recent trip up north and fell in love - I'd never be able to keep up with my super cyclist husband any other way. My plan was to think about getting one in spring but I was reminded that the company I work for has a VERY generous "personal wellness" benefit and that this would qualify. In looking at local bike shops, it was hard to pick - Milwaukee's pretty blessed with good choices. That said W & S has by far the largest selection so we headed in. I had done some research and was between a Trek and a Giant, and they had both on display plus a TON more. Honestly, if you're looking for an e-bike, this location has a whole showroom dedicated to them! Anyway, I worked with Pat who patiently walked me through the pros and cons of the bikes on my list, and answered my 1000 stupid questions. In the end, I picked the Trek which was in stock and ready to go. We also purchased a nice bike rack and they kindly gave us one that was already built and helped us get it on the truck. I was pretty excited about my new bike and the guys that work here were excited for me. Great selection, fair prices and great service! read more

This is a huge bike shop...it feels like there's a labyrinth of rooms every time I come here. I recently realized that the trusty used Gary Fisher bike I purchased 4 years ago had seen better days. The seat is literally disintegrating, the chains been replaced but probably needs to be replaced again, some of the gears have never worked. I entrusted wheel and sprocket to hook me up with a new set of wheels and I'm quite pleased with the new trek mountain bike I purchased. Staff is always friendly, and in addition to bikes and all sorts of biking gear, they also sell electric bikes if you're into that sort of thing. They also hold classes "the training hub" at this location where you essentially put your bike up on equipment that turns it into a stationary bike. Ride on! read more

I took my 13 year old Trek mountain bike to Wheel and Sprocket in Brookfield for much needed repairs. All the service people i dealt with were great. I was told it would be 2-3 weeks and it would cost between $325-$400. Well, Service we done in 5 days, cost only $298, and they even did a couple of extra small things. I was looking into the purchase of a Riese & Muller ebike and I contacted Wheel & Sprocket since they are dealers for the brand. I spoke to a store in Illinois and I was directed to talk to the Brookfield store because they carried more ebikes in their inventory and were more knowledgeable about them. I spoke to Matt there and he clearly knew what he was talking about and decided to make the trip to Brookfield. When I went to the store, they had an entire room of the shop dedicated to ebikes and Matt was there to help me. I was able to check out, discuss, and test ride several brands and models. In the end, I did decide on a Riese & Muller model in a configuration that had to be ordered and the store manager, Lori helped me out with that process. Due to the production backlog for the manufacturer and supply chain issues, it did take several months for the bike to arrive but Lori was great about keeping me informed. Once the bike arrived, I got a call that it was set up and ready for me to pick it up. That process went well and I am very satisifed with my purchase. After riding the bike several hundred miles, I had some follow up questions and wanted a couple of things looked on the bike. I was able to coordinate bringing the bike into the Brookfield store as I was passing through the area and Lori and the service tech checked out everything while we went out for dinner. I really apprecited their willingness to fit me in while we waited and they were able to address all my questions and concerns. The bottom line is that from start of my buying process to getting follow up service, all the staff and the store manager gone above and beyond in working with me! read more

We were looking at the bikes for about 20 minutes and no one came to ask us if we had any questions or if we could be helped in anyway. Someone gave me a gift card for Wheel & Sprocket otherwise I would not have shopped here today. I have had several previous really bad experiences at this store; 1. Purchased a pair of Shimano bike shoes - sole on one came off after 6 months so I brought it back to store and was told that I would need to contact the mfg. The mfg was non-responsive so I purchased another pair of Shimano bike shoes from W & S. The sole came of those after 2 months. W & S would not help on that pair either. 2 Had my triathlon bike worked on there and they did not put it together correctly and when I pointed it out to they were indifferent to this problem and I ended up reassembling it myself. Brake pads were loose, head tube was missing the bearings, cables were not adjusted. When my bike was wheeled out it was obvious that there were problems as the bars were loose. Told the mechanic who responded "And what do you want me to do about it". Told him I wanted it put together the right way and he responded "if you want it done right it will cost you more." By this time I was dumbfounded and said I wanted it fixed and the mechanic said "listen, we're busy here and I won't be able to get to it for another 3 weeks". Really truly unacceptable! Today I went there to use my gift card and buy some chain oil and degreaser. Several employees were there talking to each other and I was told by one - we will be with you in a minute. A minute goes by, they are still talking to each other - I'm by the register and I approach them and am told, just a minute. I waited by the register for 5 minutes then left. Went down the street a few blocks and got the chain oil and degreaser at REI - no waiting there. Other than the Wheel & Sprocket Bike Expo, I'm not sure how they stay in business. read more

There are only several Trek dealers in the Milwaukee area and when deciding to purchase my new bike, it made sense to check out Wheel. In April 2014 I bought my first Trek. It had been around 10 years since my last bike purchase and I wanted to pick something up from a shop that I know. I had a few experiences at the Fox Point location, which is my most frequent location, but they didn't have the model I was looking for. Brookfield did. Which means, I made the hike all the way in the opposite direction. I really enjoy the service here. Possibly more than the other shop. It was early spring so the store wasn't terribly busy. The employee I worked with was super helpful and walked me through everything I needed. I even bought the service plan on my bike. Sweet that it cover the annual tune-up. After two tune-ups it pays for itself! Definitely worth it. I've also gone in for other things too. Unknowingly I went in 5 minutes before the store was closing to look at clip-ins and shoes. Had I realized the store was almost closed, I would have left. But there was an employee that helped me for 10 minutes before I realized I should have already left. He kept helping me regardless. So nice. Tech shop - I brought my bike in for the annual service. The repair dude said it would be a week. I got a call the next day! I'm guessing it had to do with me bringing in the bike in the off season. I recommend getting your ride in early if it's just sitting around over the winter. A+ for service. This review will be short and sweet. While a gentleman held the door open for me (+1 star) i received no other acknowledgement while i was browsing the store. No one seemed interested to be of assistance or see if we had any questions. This is fine though as I acquired a mountain bike elsewhere and saved my self quite a bit of money not shopping here. Bikes seemed to range from $450-$5000. I have no real reason to go back so I won't. read more

So I went shoe shopping on a rainy day with my wife and on the way home, stopped at W&S to look at bikes. A half hour later, I had ordered a new bike because of two reasons: First, their staff is so helpful and knowledge. The saleswoman started with my riding habits and goals and clearly walked me through my options and possible upgrades. They know their product line! Second, they offered a 30-day no hassle return policy. "So I can ride this bike for thirty days and bring it back and get my money back?" "Yep, just don't crash it". In the end, this turned out to be the most useless guarantee I've ever had. After my first ride I knew there would be no returning of anything. So happy with this store, those people and that bike! read more

I stopped in on Memorial Day to look at a few Trek Superfly and X-Calibers. One of the employees (Parker Mccoll) suggested I take a look at a 2014 Stache 8 they had left over. I ended up with a really good deal on a bike that I absolutely love. Parker had great product knowledge based in personal experience. I'd strongly recommend buying a bike from him, and will likely do so again myself in the near future. read more

Over priced. I toke in my bike for a tune-up and some replacement parts and left with $400 bill. They charged full list price for everything and then charged an installation fee. When I rode regularly in New York, installs were free with full priced products. Some work was fine, but a simple tape job on my handle bars was spotty. Next time I'll just order gear of Amazon and install myself. read more

I purchased my first road bike from Wheel & Sprocket over Memorial Day weekend. I spent close to three hours with Jamie, Jon and Collin to find and fit the perfect bike for me. Each team member shared their own insights and pointers about riding, fitting, and bike maintenance. Even though the store was busy, I received the tailored attention I needed as a first time buyer. My experiences with these employees made me feel very confident and happy about my investment! After a few weeks of riding, I brought my bike back to the store with a few questions. Jon & Collin once again worked with me for about an hour making some additional fitting adjustments. Once again, they both shared valuable insights about my riding form. The guys at Wheel & Sprocket go out of their way to make your experience with them a good one. I bought two pairs of Bontrager gloves with the Delafield store. The lining tore on both pairs within the first 40 miles of use. When I took the second pair back to the Delafield location, hoping to exchange for a set of Pearl Izumi gloves, I was told that I could find additional stock online if they didn't have my size. Considering there was only an XS in the glove I was looking for, I took my gift card home with me and popped online to order my gloves there. There was no inventory in any Pearl gloves. Frustrated, I called the Brookfield store. One of the guys in Delafield mentioned that he'd seen some Pearl gloves there last time he'd visited. I spoke with Jon who was kind enough to pull aside a set of gloves for me (they had 2 in my size, yay!) and mail them to me in Madison so I didn't have to make the drive. Note: this is not their normal MO. The Appleton store is the only store that ships inventory out. But the exception Jon made for me saved me 2 hours of driving and made me a lot happier about having gone through two sets of gloves already. Great customer service! Took my new gloves out on a test spin today: love them. read more

I called this location for Wheel & Sprocket to make an appointment for have my bike tuned up. I was told over the phone that appointments were not accepted and that if I dropped my bike off the next day, it would take about a day to get my bike back. The next day (today) and over my lunch hour, I took my bike to the same location to drop it off for service. The gentleman behind the service counter told me it would be one week before they could get to my bike and I could take my bike back with me, then bring it back in on 7/27. He then proceeded to make an appointment for me to bring it back in on 7/27. In my book, this is poor customer service. Not only was I given incorrect information over the phone, but my time was wasted by taking my bike into the shop on a day when it couldn't be serviced. In the future, Wheel & Sprocket may want to create an appointment policy. Or, if they already have one, they should inform all employees of this policy. read more

I bought a Trek bike and some accessories at the annual State Fair sale this year. The accessories were to be put on my bike for pickup at this location. I arrived when they told me to only to not have the simple accessories installed and to be treated extremely rudely by the head tech. I waited just over 45 minutes for some new fancy grips to be installed. The tech made it very apparent he had no time for me as he made a point to say so to another employee loud enough for me to hear. Welp, guess what, he couldn't even install a grip properly, one of the vertical handles fell off by the time I got it to the car. What a disappointment; My future bike purchases will not be from W&S. read more

I was in their service dept looking at flat bar grips. I could hear their service dept which looked like it was staffed by teenagers home from college. They were telling stories and repeatedly dropping F bombs just talking amongst themselves as though no one was around. When I asked about a particular item, that person immediately gave the impression of being annoyed about having to leave their conversation. I asked him if they had 2 of this item. Without even looking at the item for more than 2 seconds, he just says "no" and turns back to other service staff. And because of that, they lost me as a customer. There are too many bike shops around to spend time and money on a bike shop like this one. I can't speak about their sales staff but their service staff was bad enough to make me not want to visit another Wheel & Sprocket. Either pushy sales people or lazy service staff. read more

Dear Wheel & Sprocket - Brookfield, Recently, I found myself in the market to buy a new road bike. I had an idea of what I was looking for and started shopping around. I did some research online as well as in stores. After some initial findings, I decided to test ride a few bikes. I went to a few of local stores in the area to compare brands, ride quality, etc. I met a lot of good folks who knew their stuff and were willing to help. One of those folks was Ryan Pfeiffer. Ryan was great! He was knowledgeable, patient, relaxed and non judgmental. He, too, suggested I test ride a few bikes to help me narrow down the search. I told him I'd come back when he when I had more time, and when he was working. I called a couple of days later to arrange the test ride only to learn that Ryan comes in at 1p that day. This is where Chris Klein comes in. Chris said, "come on in and we'll take care of you until Ryan gets here". And "take care of me" he did. What a great guy! I knew what I wanted to test ride, and in what order, and why. Chris was awesome! In addition to his knowledge of bikes, he was patient and had a great attitude. Ryan showed up about the time I was finished. I thanked everyone for the help, and told Ryan I'd get back with him. Later that day, I called the store and told Ryan I would like to buy one of the bikes I tested. I would like to take a moment to say "thank you" to the great team you have working in the Brookfield store. Specifically, Ryan Feiffer and Chis Klein (who I understand may no longer be there - too bad, great guy!) The selection of bikes was impressive and the overall experience was great! I took my bike in for repairs and a tune up on July 7th. After my bike was checked in, the sales associate said that I would receive a call back later on that day with an estimate and an explanation of what needed to be serviced. I never received a call back. I followed up the next day. I was told that "my bike had slipped through the cracks and it was not formally checked in nor had anyone looked at it." I did finally receive a call back a day later. The person who I spoke to informed me that I needed new brakes, a tuneup, and that my bike (a mid 90s Cannondale) had fallen under what he had dubbed an "ancient warranty." He told me that Wheel and Sprocket had ordered the parts that were supposedly still covered under a safety recall that had been issued by Cannondale in the mid 90s. He said that the Wheel and Sprocket "would have the bike done in roughly 2 to 2 and half weeks." I told him to go ahead with the repairs and the ordering of the parts. I waited for a call and never received one. I took it upon myself to call Wheel and Sprocket for a status update on Monday July 27th, a full 20 days after I had dropped off the bike. I spoke to a sales associate. He had no idea of whether or not the parts had come in and he had to check with the mechanics. After speaking with the mechanics, he informed me that now it "would be a month and a half" before the parts would be shipped. The mechanics also did not know that the parts (which were promised to come by two to two and half weeks) were not in. I then asked him, "are you able to make the repairs necessary to make the bike safe for me to ride? " He then replied: yes, but we are "not able to repair any bikes unless all parts have come in." At this point, I became very frustrated and called back the following to discuss my frustration with Colin, a shift manager at the Franklin location. He at no point apologized for the incredibly poor service and utter lack of communication. Instead, he claimed that "we just can't follow up on everyone with phone calls." I told him I would be picking up the bike later on that week and taking it elsewhere. I also informed him, that had I not kept calling for the most basic of service updates, my bike would had sat in their warehouse for months." He still refused to apologize and angrily retorted "we can fix your bike by Friday and we will just wait for the parts to come in." After hearing this, I informed him that I would be taking my business elsewhere." I picked up my bike on Friday, July 31st. The store manager, Patrick, waited on me. He wheeled out my bike and offered no apology and no explanation. read more
