Wheaton Body Shop is fabulous! I highly recommend it. I went through an ordeal because the trunk of my Saturn Ion 2003 had broken, would not pop up, was heavy to lift up on its own. It would unlatch but would stay closed unless I manually opened it. Because I needed my hands to deal with loading and unloading my trunk, the tendency was to use my head to hold it up (dumb, I know, and dangerous). I got it fixed about 1.5 years ago for $178.00 and then it broke again after 11 months later and I went back there, had it fixed again for free, but it still made a noise like it was going to break again. I dreaded each time I popped it open because of the loud, grating noise. The man blamed the fact that it had broken again on the poor design of the device, and said unless I wanted to pay a lot more, that was the best they could do. It broke again about 4 months later. This time when I called them back the receptionist said I would be called back but I never was. I finally called them and was told it would cost $409 to get it fixed again with the hinges being replaced. I got a 2nd opinion at Wheaton Body Shop. They ended up fixing it (and replacing the hinges, which should have been replaced originally) for $167.83. Now it glides open beautifully. I wish I had gone to Wheaton Body Shop in the first place because I would have saved time and money! This was a tedious, painstaking job but they rose to the challenge. Needing body work is definitely a time when you need to feel comfortable with the people doing the repairs. I was recently in that position with my Honda Odyssey mini-van which had damage to the bumper and rear gate. I had previously received an estimate at another shop and that experience felt more like I was just another customer that they had to shuffle through their schedule. There are many options for body work in Wheaton but Wheaton Body Shop will take the time to let you know they're going to treat you right and do great work. Everything about my experience with Wheaton Body Shop had me feeling confident about the work. When I walked in the nice, clean office I was greeted professionally and cordially. The manager made accommodations for me to leave my car there that day and helped me to know what the repair schedule would likely be. They updated me during the repair process (which wasn't long) too. I don't think I've driven away from a body shop before thinking that my car looks a little better coming out than it did even before it got wrecked. If I ever need body work for use this store. We have been the Wheaton Body Shop's customers for many years and every time we go there we are so pleased to know that they are as honest, as professional and reliable as before. Today was another example. My husband took his car to repair a scratch on the door from driving too close to the garage frame. The gentleman at the Wheaton Body Shop did not try to make extra money by telling my husband that the door had to be repainted. He simply used some chemicals and whipped out the scratch!! We know that elsewhere it would be a major service and expense. We still remember taking our car to Herb Gordon because the trunk would not close. They told us that the whole lock had to be removed and replaced and the labor and parts would cost almost $350. We took the car to a service station and the mechanic screw some screws that were loose and didn't charge us a penny. The Wheaton Body Shop belongs to this category of business - they only charge you for what really has to be done and not for what they can come up with to make you pay more. Ode to Excellence = Wheaton Body Shop Peter (owner) & Klara (office manager) are superb. Their shop has fixed both my car & my wife's car within the past year with excellent results. They go beyond. Knowing I was going to need a rental car they suggested the Enterprise Car Rental a block away. I got a good vibe during my estimate and afterwards at pickup/completion. They do extra things to set their shop apart: buffed out haze from my headlights, did touch up paint around the car, buffed out 2 small dents, printed out a drawing of a part I was curious about, asked me if I had adequate Uber driver related insurance. Peter finds the best replacement parts - original manufacturer or less expensive after market substitutes. BIG TIP: get an estimate from a car dealership first, get that amount approved by your insurance company, then go to Peter who will figure a way to get the same result for less, and you pocket the difference (hundreds of dollars in my case). Totally legit, no guilt, just smarts. I was pleased. read more

If it were possible to give Wheaton Body Shop six stars, I would do so without hesitation! I've used their services on several occasions over the past 10 years or more, always finding owner Peter Kelemen to be professional, courteous and honorable, and his prices extremely reasonable for the top notch work his team performs. I've been impressed by the fact that he not only doesn't try to push unnecessary repairs, but actually suggests ways to minimize the cost of what is in fact needed. The time in which repairs are completed is impressive as well. On my latest visit last week, I had the added pleasure of dealing with his colleague, Klara, who actually went to the extra trouble of dabbing touch-up paint on a couple of minor scratches -- ones that had nothing to do with the accident damage -- which she noticed while returning the car to me. I told her and Peter that, if it weren't for the fact that it requires an auto accident to do so, I'd love to deal with them more frequently. read more

These folks are great! ... nice friendly family-like business. I got an estimate in maybe 10-15 minutes at the most, which included options to save money, such as using a generic part instead of factory part, etc. They did the work right on time and at exactly the price they quoted. The repair came out just like new. That's all really good stuff --- but pretty much expected (although these days, who knows?). But it gets much BETTER... they even touched up a few nicks and dents on other parts of my car and returned it in incredibly CLEAN condition, and by that I mean they must have washed it, vacuumed it, cleaned the windows, and even used some kind of vinyl cleaner to make my faded dashboard look new. Incredible. I had work done a couple years ago on a different car and as I recall, that all went great too. Hope I never need an auto body shop again, but if I do, I will go there without even thinking of going anywhere else! read more

This has to be the best body shop in the metro D.C. area. I had to use them twice, first with a relatively minor side swipe to the right side of my Lexus. When I got the car back, in reasonable time, the car came back as good as new, (actually better since I bought it used), I couldn't get over how good it looked. Not only was it slightly below the estimate, the lovely owner Peter decided to fix some other "problem areas" of the body--for no charge. Tomorrow I'm going to pick up my car for the second accident. I was only going 7 mph, but hit a garbage truck. The crumple zone did what it was supposed to, it crumpled. This one was considered totaled by the insurance company. Peter suggested I get it Maryland State inspected to see if there was any serious mechanical damage to the car. Excellent advice--there was none, so I repaired the car. As I wrote, I'm picking up my car tomorrow, and will write an update. read more

Peter and his team truly go above and beyond, explain clearly, charge very reasonably, have outstanding people skills, and really care about doing excellent work and making the customer smile. I have benefited from Peter's professional opinion and work a couple of times before this one. He has my total trust and confidence. Today I just got my previously damaged car back, ahead of schedule, and looking like brand new. I honestly didn't even recognize it, except for the license plate. This is after an accident last week where the front bumper, hood, and headlights (plus some internal parts) were a mess from hitting someone's back bumper so hard it fell off (fortunately both drivers were not injured). I have always been highly satisfied with both the work and the professionalism of the owners (Peter and Paul) and the office staff. Everything was clearly explained to me and I have felt comfortable and confident that they were giving me the best advice on what was needed and how to proceed. When necessary they have dealt directly with the insurance company because, as in all repair cases, there are unforeseen damages that might not be visible until the repair work is begun. The car was ready within the time frame that I had been told. I am very satisfied with the quality of their work and how the car looks now. I had the best experience with Wheaton Body Shop! Peter and Klara are extremely knowledgeable and caring. My car was hit in a hit-and-run, and I needed my cars grill replaced. Thankfully it was covered by the perpetrators insurance. Klara was extremely helpful in making sure the correct parts were ordered for my car (the insurance estimator actually wrote down a slightly different grill and Klara caught the overlook). Dropping the car off was super easy and convenient. They are located right next to the Wheaton metro and it was easy for me to drop it off and hop on the metro to get to work. The repairs were completed in a day just as they said it would. I'll also mention that their prices for repairs are very competitive! Probably the best you'll find in the DC-MD-VA area! Outstanding! Both Peter the owner and Klara who works in the office. The whole experience was pleasant but my experience at the pick up really made my day. I asked Peter if the car might be ready a day early as I was leaving town the next day. He said he didn't think so but he would look to see what else needed to be done. A surprise call from Peter the next day and my car was ready! When I went to pick it up, I had my Ridgeback puppy with me and Peter was extra helpful. He helped move some stuff from the rental back to my car. Then he drove my car back to the rental place then walked back to his shop. What more could I ask for? I would strongly recommend Wheaton Body shop for car repairs. I just had my Volvo S-60 repaired (scratched rear bumper as a result of a recent car accident which was the other driver's fault). As a young female I was so afraid to getting taken advantage of by a body shop that I waited months to fix my car but this shop was AMAZING! They are great! We had a big gash in our bumper and a broken tail light and they provided several options, from replacing the whole bumper to just fixing the tail light. Their estimates were quick and professional and they were always responsive to my phone calls. We opted to just fix the tail light since the bumper damage was only cosmetic. They got us a good price on a used tail light, and in addition they ended up touching up the many scratches and gashes on our bumper from years of street parking in DC for no extra charge.
