Great spot to build a beer kit or pick up supplies. The owner and the guy working with her that day were both kind and helpful. We had a CO2 tank that needed to be filled and they took care of it for us. We made two kits and got all we needed. They're even open on Sundays! They're in a strip mall, so there's no stress about parking or carrying heavy things far. They're great! read more

My wife and I moved to the area about two years ago. I had no experience brewing until I made a friend at a local bar. Since we started brewing in late 2015 we have been to this store countless times and continue to learn something new every time we go. The owner, Nancy, and all the employees are very helpful and open to answering your questions. You can tell that they truly embrace the homebrew culture. The prices are very fair, you can mill your own grains right in the shop, and they have an excellent selection of hops and yeast as well. If you are new to homebrewing, they have a great selection of extract kits with very clear and easy directions. Can not recommend this place highly enough! read more

I can't comment on the advanced aspects, but What's Brewing? Supply in Palatine has been an amazing experience for me as a new home brewer. They take my calls, give me great advice, even hold how to classes. In a few weeks I expect to be drinking my first home-brewed beer. If you're thinking of following in the footsteps of great Americans like Washington, Jefferson, and Obama...(all of whom were home brewers before they became Presidents)...then go check out WB! This place is great! Just moved back up to the 'Burbs, and I needed to find a brew shop. I tried two others, and they were grossly over priced. This place, by comparison, is perfect! Owner is full of friendly advice - they have prepacked kits that they make in house, I just debuted the American stout at an office holiday party, and it was reported to be "the best homebrew" my colleagues had ever had. I have been home brewing for a few years now. My old brew supply store closed recently, so I was very excited to find out about this one. I went in today witha rough idea of the beer I wanted to brew (Russian imperial stout). I walked in and was greeted by the employees immediately. They gave me some time to look around and then offered some suggestions as to what might be good. I was able to get almost everything I needed. I will have to go back again to retrieve the desired wyeast strain. The place was clean and well organized. It was also nice to be able to mill my own grain. This will be my permanent brew supply store. read more

This shop just opened in August. Very helpful and knowledgeable people there. They are well stocked with grains that you can measure out. The owner said that people could email their grain bills and they would measure them out for pickup the next day. Tucked in the inside corner of a strip mall in Palatine. There are no homebrew shops within a 30 minute drive of this place, so I hope they make it. Finding time to make road-trips to one of the other brew shops is hard sometimes. I'd rather spend my time brewing!! read more

A terrific independently owned brew supply shop in the NW burbs. The owner, Nancy, was very friendly, knowledgeable and full of good ideas. She spent nearly an hour with me (while attentively helping other patrons who came in) ) discussing different brewing ideas/techniques/strategies. We came up with a couple great recipes and cracked the ingredients fresh in the back. A great shop worth the trip to get fresh ingredients, all the supplies you'll need, and most importantly- some great experienced service. Just wish I had this shop closer to home! read more

This place is awesome! It is very clean and organized, they have a great selection of grains/hops, and the owners are EXTREMELY knowledgeable. I was in there for probably a half hour and asked dozens of questions.... they were glad to answer everything! From what I saw, the prices are fantastic. Got my first big girl brew kit here. They offer FREE beginner brewing classes which are extremely helpful. I think their prices are good. I only compared stuff to purchasing off Amazon and it was pretty similar. Its worth going and supporting the local small business. The owner is very knowledgeable and I am completely jealous of her and her husband's back story. They have awesome jobs! read more
