You know I love whataburger I truly do but for them to be one of the only places up 1 am 24hrs it's no reason no excuses I should be sitting in a fast food line for 30 mins+ just to have my order taken. Even worse the speaker didn't work so not only did I wait 30 mins to get to the speaker I would still need to wait to get to the window to order and then wait for the food to be cooked. It's never like this during the day and I know they have a night crew working unless they all sleeping or beating off in a corner but I just had to express my upset cus now I'm going to bed hungry. I have work in 4 hrs and had no sleep and just wanted a good patty melt before bed cus I was unable to eat for dinner time and whataburger was my saving grace. I want to express how angry I am after my visit here tonight. When I ordered my food I clearly ask for the free kids meal when purchasing a whatameal. That they have advertised front and center of the counter. I received my meal. Without the kids meal. And I was told oh I didn't hear you. And instead of giving me my free kids meal. He said he cant. First time at Whataburger and boy was it a time! Our hotel was right around the corner and we had the chance to check out all the hype. Their food was super tasty, even with us stopping by after 10pm, everything tasted great. Service was speedy, even with there being quite a few customers. Very clean, new Whataburger along the I-35 in Glenn Heights/Red Oak nourished our bodies and gave us a nice place to get off the road for a few minutes and enjoy the air conditioning. Service is brisk and efficient, our order was correct, and of course the burgers were AWESOME - duh. I pulled into the drive-thru lane (closest to the restaurant) at about 12:10 on a Tuesday and placed my order. There were three cars ahead of me. At the same time, there was a utility truck in the second lane, at the position of the payment window and next to the first car in my line. Twelve minutes later, the car at the window was served and my line moved forward so now I was two cars away. The utility truck's driver received his order at about the same time. There had been a car at the ordering box in the second lane for almost the entire time - apparently they hadn't yet taken his order! After nearly 15 minutes of waiting, I was able to pull over into the second lane and leave. (Thank goodness that car in the second lane hadn't yet pulled up or I would've been trapped!) I've been in drive-throughs before where, if the customer's order was large and would take longer than usual, they asked the customer to pull into a parking space so they could bring the food out to them. Here, they just left them sitting in BOTH lanes for the entire time, blocking everyone else. Since I sat there for 12 minutes before a car moved, and both vehicles were already there when I pulled up, how long had THEY been waiting? The last time I was there the service was slow, and the chicken sandwich I ordered wasn't the quality I was accustomed to from Whataburger. After that, and this last disastrous experience of waiting 15 minutes for nothing, I won't bother going back to this restaurant. Didn't go through the drive thru so can't speak to their speed for that service. I went into the restaurant and found the service to be fast, friendly, and the entire restaurant was super clean. This is hands down the best whataburger I've set foot in. The employees and management were happy and friendly. The bathroom and dining area were immaculate. I went here and I ordered a kids CHEESE BURGER, medium fries, and a small chocolate shake. When I received my order it was not a cheese burger and had mustard and pickles on it. I asked the manager for the correct thing and got it for me without a doubt. Another thing to add is that the cashier did not seem very happy and was VERY hard to hear because he was mumbling. I love Whataburger, but I hate this store! Service is SLOW when going through drive thru. Ordered 2 burgers and 2 kids chicken strips. Got the order, FINALLY, after 20+ minutes in the drive thru and 1 burger was wrong completely and the 2 kids chicken strip meals literally had the chicken strip bags with no chicken strips. Luckily we checked the bag before driving off and the ignorant manager literally took the burger and kids food bags (that's a health violation if you didn't learn that in food service 101) and blamed it on the 'new' staff. The workers on night shift avoid as much as they can on taking orders what they do is they don't answer the speaker when it's late at night I know this because I live in red oak and go there every other night then I go to the window and no one's in sight then I try going inside but what they do is block the doors with trash cans but the employees are inside because there cars are parked outside and the website says open. I can't believe we waited this long. We finally got our food, I took the first bite and I was like really??? The burger was cold and nothing special about it.
