We got this delivered, but I think I'd be underwhelmed even if I were to eat it at the restaurant. The food was just okay. The fries had absolutely zero flavor and that's normally my favorite part of any fast food meal. I also got the patty melt and I was honestly pleasantly surprised! I seriously don't get why everybody raves about Whataburger. I've been to three different locations a total of 6 times. Four of them were at this location at 95th and Metcalf. Their cashiers have been uniformly unanimated, borderline surly. The cashier today had no dimes or quarters in his register, so attempted to make my $.98 change with 19 nickels. When I asked for different configuration of change he had to go get a manager to help. On the subject of counter help, once at this location I ask about veggie burgers, young woman taking my order told me in all seriousness that they'd be able to take the meat patty out of any of the sandwiches for me. The burgers are generally lackluster, overcooked and dry, and underdressed. The rare exception was my patty melt today was really good other than being served on soggy toast. The meat was still juicy, the grilled onions were great and the cheese was fully melted. I guess sometimes close is all you can hope for. I can hear because I wasn't in the mood for McDonald's, and I didn't have time for a dine and meal at Sickie's garage across the street. I should've gone to McDonald's for a McRib. read more

Well, don't get mad at me. We were in Kansas City, and I was just joking around about coming to Whataburger up here. We love Whataburger in Texas. So we stopped, and went in, it was lunch time. I'm sad to say, that our meal was better than what we have had the last 3-4 times we've gotten meal at Whataburger in Texas. The buns were soft, the lettuce was green, the tomatoes were nice and juicy. The burger was borderline salty. The restaurant was clean and pretty spacious. My opening day drive-thru experience was good, with clear communications through the drive-thru speaker, a four minute wait and cheerful service. The grilled chicken combo ($9.39) was tasty with good portions. I liked the thick and juicy chicken, the fresh veggies, the fresh bun and the huge drink. Do not go in if it is raining outside! We walked in and seriously the flooring was like a sheet of ICE!!!! HARSH DAVE is the managing partner for the Leawood ks store. Something must be done!! The young on-site manager tried to help, He even had the staff dry mop and then mop with straight vinegar. Even those things didn't help! Small children were ice skating. This is my regular location because of the consistency of the food, service and cleanliness. They are usually busy but always get the food out quick and fresh. The staff here seem to be friendly compared to other stores. I'm always comfortable here to pop in for a quick bite or do an online pickup. I've been able to try many types of burgers here and have enjoyed every single one of them. Being open 24/7 is very convenient as well. I highly recommend this location. read more

I had not been too a Whataburger in the Overland Park area. I guess it was impossible to get my order right. Ordered a Double with grilled onions. Onion rings extra salt. Whataburger was very busy and the line moved slowly. I got my medium Root Beer, Whataburger grilled onions, no ketchup just mustard and the burger was lacking with requested condiments. I hate to do this, seeing the way the reviews are trending for this place all over town, but we came out to see what the hype has been about (Whataburger in general, not just this specific location), and, unfortunately, every single person in our 7 person party was extremely underwhelmed. Our kids, surprising enough, were the first to say it: it's....just....mehhh. Totally fine. Not bad. Not great. And, when a place is hyped as much as Whataburger is, you expect it to be, at least, pretty darn good. Maybe the hype worked against it...I don't know. But, judging the food alone, I could name fourteen other fast food burger joints, local and national, that I'd go to before I'd do Whataburger again. Also unfortunately, we arrived at a weekend busy time...meaning the place was overrun, staff was overwhelmed, and the dining room was less than clean. The bright spot was that the staff who were present at this time were working super hard, and when we had a small issue, one went above and beyond to fix it. Ordered a patty melt which had grilled onions but non-existent sauce. Gave up after eating less than one--third of it as it wasn't worth the effort for the amount of chewing required. This was our first visit to a metro establishment. We pulled into the drive through at 11:51am with no one In the ordering lanes. After looking on their internet site menu I opted for the Southern Bacon Spicy chicken combo and he ordered the double meat double cheese Whataburger combo. We drove to the window paid and got our drinks and after some time was asked to pull. forward. Our food was brought out shortly after. Our fries were hot and salty - remind me of a little more done McD fries - they were really good! My chicken sandwich was made with coleslaw, bacon & pickles, Mayo condiments. It was hot and the chicken patty was a little thin but very spicy. Overall the mix between the cold condiments and the hot spicy chicken was a good balance. My bf burger was a big burger and it reminded me of a sonic burger. It was hot, cheesy and flavored with mustard. Overall a good experience, the wait knocked my review down a star but the sandwiches & fries were hot, fresh and tasty. read more

This place was very clean. Almost sterile! If you eat inside, very hard to get away from the sun shinning in your face and no shades. My hamburger was very big. Lots of veggies. But I probably will never go back. It was to me not what all the hype was about. It was just so so. Also it was caked with mustard. Had they given me a choice I would have said no mustard. Visited the newly opened Whataburger by our house & I must say they have a long ways to go. I'm not much of a burger person but my husband is so I said let's give it a shot. We went on a Sunday night & luckily for us there was only about 3 cars ahead of us so not too much of a wait. We got up there & my husband ordered a bacon cheeseburger meal with regular fries & Dr. Pepper. I opted for the spicy chicken sandwich meal & requested onion rings with sprite as my drink. Ordering was easy, got to the window & paid. I had my little clingy fur baby on my lap so when she handed my husband the bag he put it down in front of feet. I usually look in the bag & start nibbling on fries but since I had my fur baby in my lap I didn't this time. We get home & to my surprise there were no fries or onion rings. My husband was more displeased than I was so I told him I'd go back up & get our fries since we don't live too far. Thought it would be quicker to go in the dining area but with my luck wasn't opened & the drive-thru was longer than the 1st time. I was sitting there for about 15-20 mins before getting to the window. While waiting I get a phone call from the husband to tell me he only got a hamburger with a bunch of pickles in it. What a great first time experience for us! They remade the whole order for us minus the drinks which was nice to fix that issue but I don't think I will try Whataburger again. My extra spicy chicken sandwich was hard but the onion rings were good. Luckily I still had the 1st spicy chicken which was a little better than the 2nd one they gave me. I wasn't able to go inside the restaurant so I can't say anything about on that matter. The drive-thru employee was nice & I know they just opened but I hope things will get better. This is a first time/ first impressions review... Yes you read that right. It took me 39 years but finally I got to try Whataburger! I wasn't very well versed in the history of Whataburger so before writing this I spent a little time researching them and their 70 year history. Of course this is a FOOD review so I'll spare you the "boring" details but its nice to see a chain like this still doing what they do and continuing to expand 70 years later. The Burger... Not realizing the size of the burgers, I ordered a triple cheese burger plain. WOW was this thing HUGE! If if would have done just a tiny bit of research I would have gone with the double, but YOLO right? Anyway, the burger was overall pretty good, although slightly drier than my expectations. Maybe it was a fluke, or maybe it was because it was ordered "dry" as in no liquid condiments or sauces, but the patties were honestly a bit drier than expected. The american cheese slices they use is perfect for a burger like this, and there isn't much I can think of that I would change. Final score 8/10. Fries... The fries were pretty basic. Good, but nothing special. 5/10 Spicy Chicken Sandwich... This is where I was truly impressed. Now let me start by saying that I put chicken sandwiches into two distinct categories. Fried from frozen, and freshly breaded and fried. This was clearly a previously frozen piece of chicken, HOWEVER the spices permeated the entire whole breast piece (not chipped or pre formed chicken) and it was juicy, bright white, and perfectly fried. I would honestly rate this #1 among places like Wendy's, Burger king, Jack in Box, Mcdonald's, Dairy Queen, etc. But it falls short of hand breaded places like Chick-Fil-A and Popeyes. For a frozen REAL piece of Chicken however I'd give it a 9.5/10. Bottom line... Whataburger is an iconic place for a reason, and their burgers are top notch for their category. Now honestly it would have probably been better with some condiments, lettuce, tomato, onion, sauces, etc. but I was interested in experiencing the "burger" as simple meat and cheese. The sandwich I was served fell short of perfection due to being a bit dry, but otherwise I can/do understand the hype. Additionally, the burgers are larger than expected, and for a first timer, I was surprised/impressed by this. To me, it's not the best "fast food" burger place, because I prefer smashed burgers like you get at places like Freddy's, Steak n Shake, and 5 guys. That being said, I'd put Whataburger on par with the similar drive thru places like the other ones mentioned above. Nothing too special (other then the size) but rare enough to make them worth the stop if its not a chain you have in your area, or grew up with. read more

Service is way slow. They ask for your name for order. Soeaker is so bad that they ask you to repeat overe and over and my name is never correct. Then you get blocked in line forever and watch the staff come out the door wearing head set and smoke while you wait. One time i called inside to make sure they were ok because there was no movement. I thought they were being held up. Food is meh. When the close a lane they put a cone up but way up in lane and you have already driven in the lane before you see it and have to try and navigate backwards to get out. Not worth the hassle. Sad. It's crazy they still don't have their lobby open. However, I was very pleased today. I yet again got a free meal from their app, the Patty Melt meal. Free burger, drink, and fries. For the first time I got the jalapeno ranch for my fries. AMAZING RANCH! Wow, I was super impressed with that ranch sauce. The patty melt was a double burger, I added jalapeno and mayo, minus the pepper sauce. It was very good, although the bread was a little moist for me. This patty melt was the best thing I've had at a Whataburger so far. I haven't had to spend much money yet, so far after DLing the app I've received 2 free burgers and a free meal. whataburger. how about wheresmyburger? against my will, i was taken here for lunch, it was after the lunch rush, so i innocently believed our food would appear within a reasonable time frame. WRONG. we ordered standard hamburgers and french fries. i should have known this would not be pleasant when i glanced at the grill area and saw it was filthy - lettuce, tomatoes, some buns - all strewn about on the counter tops, some food on the floor too, which is understandable, it happens. but the place wasn't busy, so why wasn't someone cleaning that up? no napkins, drink area was dirty. some wet spots where people had dropped ice, everything in that area was messy. while we waited, we watched a couple with three children come in; the youngest, maybe five years old, immediately threw himself onto the floor and started licking it, while his parents watched. the entire family then proceeded to talk loudly enough for people a block away to hear. this was entertaining ten minutes; thankfully, the remaining eleven minutes that we waited for our food was less exhausting than that floor licking family. food wait - 21 minutes total. hamburgers. no flavor, my 92 year old granny could make a tastier hamburger, which is saying quite a bit, since she is dead. french fries were medium hot. i did not eat very much, but my date, the human trash bin, ate my stuff, even though it wasn't tasty. what is wrong with that dude?? i must save that for later thought... the only saving grace was the staff - very nice. i did hear the manager coming out in person to tell a lady they ran out of boiled eggs for her salad. he was cool about it though, apologized and asked her what they could substitute it with. the smart ass part of me wanted to ask him if they could substitute my cold french fries with hot ones, but refrained. such a grown up moment. whataburger. never again. read more
