All of the reviews were right on - this was absolutely NOT fast food - it was fast, really fast, but the speed was just bonus. As we usually do, we split. We chose the Carolina BBQ smash. The burgers were juicy - if you're not careful, I guarantee you'll be wearing it. Two critiques, it definitely needed more sauce - I just added some of the SmashCity sauce from our fries and it worked but I really would have liked to have had more BBQ sauce. Second, the fried onions were quite burned. I pulled off most of them. The hand cut fries were piping hot, just the right amount of greasy and seasoned perfectly. Splitting the burger was a good call - I'd never have eaten the whole thing myself. The burger and fries were just over $20. When you consider a Big Mac meal at that clown place is $14, SmashCity is almost a bargain. Paul, the owner was like the energizer bunny - he was everywhere at once. Personality oozed from his pores. Make sure you tell him Sue said hi! (He won't remember me but just say hi anyway!) Now I wouldn't say SmashCity has the best burgers - that award goes to our friend Jerry. He makes a pretty mean smash burger on the blackstone. If you have an extra half hour, skip the fast food burger joints, get off that highway, and go let Paul fill your belly for the rest of your trip! You'll appreciate it!

The drinks came out and they were really good. They weren't overly strong, you could taste the bourbon in each of them, but it wasn't overpowering. For food we got the OPA! to start and then the Billy for me and the Mother Clucker for him. The OPA was awesome. It's pan seared feta with honey and served with fresh bread. The honey added a little extra sweetness to the feta which went really nicely with the crusty bread. The Billy had goat cheese, bacon, onions and, a tomato jam on it. It was delicious. The creamy goat cheese with the bacon and smokey tomato jam all went amazingly together. I got onion rings as my side, which were crunchy hot and so so good. The Mother Clucker was also really good. I only had a bite of it to try, but was definitely impressed. My husband upgraded to the duck fat fries which were out of this world. Super crunchy, great flavor. Our server kept checking back on us the whole time making sure we were satisfied with our drinks and food, but we had absolutely no complaints. The chicken was fairly tough and chewy and the piece was smaller than the bun it was sitting in, so it was literally tough to eat. The bun and vegetables were fresh though. I loved the onion rings. Best seasoning I've had on fries or onion rings in a long time, and the waitress brought some ranch which helped even more! Because the locations seem consistent, I'll also give the Powell location 4 stars. Great sides, good buns, but not without their faults. Looking forward to trying the fried fish in future.

My brother had a buffalo chicken sandwich and my mom had the reuben. We all shared the vegan banana split. The only slight criticism is that the pizza kitchen is separate from the main kitchen so the pizza arrived in 5 minutes along with the salad and then the burger came out 15 minutes later. No knock on the restaurant because all three dishes were terrific and cooked to order. The quality of the ingredients stands out as superior to most restaurants and you can tell they care in how they plate and prepare the dishes as well. We sat at a high top table in the bar and the server was polite and friendly.
