Abridged is such a great spot with amazing food. They're always slammed so plan on a bit of a wait but it's worth it. We had a chef salad minus meat and egg (vegetarian daughter in tow), a kids cheese pizza and the abridged cheeseburger. All three items were terrific. The only slight criticism is that the pizza kitchen is separate from the main kitchen so the pizza arrived in 5 minutes along with the salad and then the burger came out 15 minutes later. No knock on the restaurant because all three dishes were terrific and cooked to order. The quality of the ingredients stands out as superior to most restaurants and you can tell they care in how they plate and prepare the dishes as well. We sat at a high top table in the bar and the server was polite and friendly. read more

The burgers are still good, but I did not love the fries. I usually get asparagus so I have not noticed that the fries are not very crispy. They are a little wider and squishy. My 9yo did not like the kids' grilled cheese either. It was a huge bun instead of bread and she didn't like how thick the bread was compared to the cheese (cheese to bread ratio wasn't a hat she liked). My 11yo liked the margarita pizza though she usually likes more cheese. Overall, it's still good, but not the best ever. The service is good and the ambiance is nice. Very much a Malt Disney World. The food was to die for! The pizza was very good. But I've never had a better fried green tomato in my life! And add a pimento cheese queso over top holy hell that was good! My husband and I tried two different flights. We found two over the top years that were fantastic! The rest were good... But, onward we go in our search for the best Mayer in the Knoxville area. The service was great! Who came out pretty quickly, especially with how crowded it was. The restrooms are clean. Delicious and burgers and pizza at Abridged! We tried the burgers in different styles, Abridged, Smoky, and the Cheeseburger. The abridged was the favorite for sure. It has a delicious sauce, Brussels, and caramelized onions. The nachos were tasty as well, just a tiny bit over done. The cornflake pancake bites were a nice savory but sweet treat. Other things- parking gets pretty full on Friday nights. We parked across the street close to the hotel. There will probably be a wait, but you can get drinks and hang out while waiting. Lots of large groups, so I imagine it's a good spot for that! read more

It was fine. Honestly I think it's overhyped bc it's just typical bar food. The meat pizza was way too salty but the pizza dough was good so I think another choice of pizza would've been good. My nachos were not good. Save yourself the calories because they were honestly dry and not special. They also had no flavor and they were cold by the time they came out so my cheese sauce was solid again. I would say the burger was the best option and it was just alright I've had better burgers other places. It was busy too so we had to wait like 35 mins just for the food to be mid. Our server was really nice and he made sure we got everything we needed. I probably wouldn't come here for food again. The drink menu looks great though I would come back to try the drinks! The Cedar Bluff HQ venue is kind of quirky in terms of seating and the wait on a Friday night for dinner was long (book ahead!), but the wait turned out to be fine when we ordered 4 oz tasting pours of several of their dark beers and enjoyed them while seated in the indoor/outdoor waiting area. Once we were seated, the service was good and we enjoyed our dinners. The pot roast nachos were good and using red beans was a nice twist. This one merits 4 stars. It needed something to take it up a notch to get 5 stars. The better choice was the fish sandwich with the smoky dry rub. The batter was a perfect level of smokiness and heat, with the fish inside being very good as well. One of the best fish sandwiches I've had in a while. Our work group had dinner planned here, mind you there was about 30 of us. We've been here before in past, so the planners knew what they were in for. The food was good, the service, not so much. Just my two cents, if you're going to have a party of 30 guests, you could afford to have two folks from the wait staff serve. Restrooms were clean, hot hot water to wash your hands! I myself had the chicken salad sandwich with a side of asparagus. It was delicious. Unfortunately, I ate the asparagus with my fingers, bc the waitress we had brought silverware to our table, for a family of four . What's up with that? ‍ In any event, I'd prob go back and sit at the bar, or outside on the patio when the weather permits. 1 hour wait for a table for 4 on a Friday night. Parking was nonexistent, but the local businesses next door had plenty of extra parking. There is a walk up bar and a designated waiting area where you can order drinks and sit (or stand) while waiting for a phone call/text from the front of house saying your table is ready. read more

Maybe I'm being a bit lax, but on the day I was there, everything was just perfect... so how can I deny them 5 stars? I had an amazingly tasty burger. The meat was just melt in your mouth (I noticed they sell the meat mixture to cook at home; I may buy some next time). The burger was lovely, and the brussel sprouts leaves were a very interesting addition. I also liked that they had so many beers and sold 4 oz. "taster" sizes so I could try a couple without going overboard at lunch! We had eaten before a few years ago at the original location and thought it was good.....but this time I thought it was GREAT. The menu has lots of other items, and they have a full bar so those who prefer mixed drinks get satisfied too. For a beer company, what a treat! read more

Food and beer were awesome! We wandered in looking for a quick Bite last weekend. The chicken sandwich was awesome and the beers we tried were all delicious. We had the fried green tomatoes to start and those were tasty too. Our service was slow though - our food took a long time to come out and it was not super busy... wondering if they lost our order but nonetheless it was a little irritating. There is ample seating in and outdoors...lots of kids were running around playing but I feel like that might be par for the course with any brewery these days. You definitely won't have issues finding a place to sit and have a beer. My best advice would be don't go here super hungry...but you can't go wrong if you just want a pint! read more

I have never failed to have a great culinary experience here. The pizza is wood fired to the perfect temperature and always comes out blazing hot and incredibly crisp and chewy in all the right places. My favorite pizza is the buffalo chicken pizza because of the jalapeno jam drizzled on top which reminds me of hatch green chiles and is the most elite flavor combination with the buffalo and ranch. And as amazing as the pizzas are, the burgers and sandwiches are surprisingly just as good. Lots of flavor in every bite. Also, the salads are huge and great for sharing- the chef salad is my favorite. I also love the open floor plan and the large expansive windows for natural lighting. Additionally, the bar top allows for a good amount of seating and looks luxurious like a hotel bar. I have always had great service here with no complaints. The food comes out pretty quickly while it's still hot and fresh. From the top tier food to the great service and ambience, I would highly recommend coming here and showing your friends! read more

Just landed in Knoxville and was really excited to check out Abridged Beer which was walking distance from my hotel. It was packed on a Tuesday evening and was told it'd be a 50-60 minute wait for a table of 2. My friend and I decided to scope out a spot at the bar and ordered drinks while we waited. Very quickly we were able to grab two seats at the smaller bar area and it was perfect. Isaac and Olivia took care of us from beginning to end, they were super friendly and helpful. Started with a glass of bubbly and tried their deviled eggs. It was one of the best versions I have ever tried as it had crispy pastrami bits, fried onions, and the golden BBQ sauce made it all savory with a nice crunch. There was so many items I wanted to try on their food menu from their burgers to pizza, but the Fried green BLT was calling me because it's not easy to get fried green tomatoes back in CA. It was served on an upside down brioche bun and with the crispy bacon and aioli, it was a very tasty sandwich! The fries with ranch were excellent as well. I like light beers so I tried a tasting of their Rifleman but it was a bit too light for me. Isaac then got me a tasting of their other lager (forgot the name) and it was a winner! The prices for their beers are very reasonable. Overall, it was a great start to my Knoxville trip and Abridged is a wonderful space with a lively atmosphere. Mercy! Legitimately one of the best burgers I've ever had! My brother lives in the area and he has been absolutely raving about this place. I finally got the chance to go with him, and I'm gonna have to pay him visits way more often. We started, casually, with a pepperoni hot honey pizza. We were a little skeptical of the combo of ingredients, and we could not have been more wrong. So delicious. The star of the show were the entrees. My brother wouldn't let me order anything but the Abridged Burger. "Brussel sprouts on a burger?" you may ask. Brussel sprouts on a burger. Then we had two pizzas, Thai Peanut, which was good and the HQ pie, very good. One suggestion if the owner is listening. It's Friday night, and we ordered the food to go! I take our 3 year old grand daughter to pick up the food. I pull in and the place is packed, no parking places. I stop in front, there is an area you can squeeze in, I turn in and turn on the flasher, get the Grand Daughter out of the car seat, walk inside and had to wait in line to pick up the food. For any single Mom or Dad with kids, you need to help them out. You might want to have a couple ToGo parking spaces. I was not the only one struggling that night. Thanks! read more

One appears to be the hard liquor area while the other is the beer section. The beers were good. Sgt Swig was really good. Homeslice had a bid of a lemon taste to it. The meat lovers pizza was really good. The Cesar Salad came with warm lettuce. Is it supposed to be to come that way? I did not like it so I won't be ordering that again. Didn't order beer or wine or cocktails although they have a fantastic list of offerings with two bars (one for beer and another for hard liquor). What we did order were two sandwiches, two Cokes and two glasses of sparkling water. Unfortunately the server brought us three of the drinks in cracked glasses so had to replace our drinks once we noticed the cracks. It took a while for our entrees with sides of potato salad to arrive. The only other available side--French fries. My spouse's Grilled Chicken Abridged ($15) looked appetizing and apparently tasted great because he "yummed" his way through it. He especially enjoyed the crispy brussel sprout leafs that added a flavorful crunch. My Pastrami Reuben ($17) seemed a bit small between two pieces of rye bread, and although it pleased my palate, the sandwich was not exceptional. In fact, a competitor's Corned Beef Reuben with plenty of sauerkraut, meat and Swiss cheese on a swirled wheat/white toast is better and costs less. Our server was gracious and polite, thanked us for dining there, and encouraged us to return. It would be a good spot to dine again in warmer weather where patrons can sit outside on the patio lined with tables and umbrellas. We went to Abridged on Cedar Bluff on a Friday night, knowing that it would be crowded and fully prepared to wait for a table because we have been before and are aware of how busy it is. Unfortunately, even with those expectations and preparing to be patient while we waited for a table, we were still extremely letdown by the experience. Upon arriving, we were quoted 45 minutes to an hour for a table for 2 which we were intending to patiently wait for. After 35 minutes of waiting, we noticed there were seats at the bar available so we checked with the host as to where we were on the waitlist so we could decide if we might want to take the bar seats or wait for our table if we were close to the top of the list. The host informed us we were second in line with only one party ahead of us, which was a party of seven. Because of that we made the decision to wait for our table since we had already waited so long and really wanted to sit at a table rather than the bar. Another 30 minutes went by and we were over our hour of quoted wait time by this point so we decided to check in with the host who informed us " the system had kicked us off the waitlist" and that " this happens every 30 parties or so". I informed her we had been waiting for almost an hour and 15 minutes by that point as she walked us to a makeshift table that was crammed in the corner. She notified us that part of our meal would be compensated, and she would inform our waiter to do so. What was most upsetting is that she did not seem to think it was a big deal that their system had just kicked us off the waitlist. She informed me that next time I should check in a bit before our quoted wait time to see where we were on the list. I told her we did just that, not even knowing that we needed to, and I had visually seen our name as second on the list on the tablet at that point when I checked in at the 35 minute mark. We proceeded to wait at least 10 minutes for anyone to visit our table for the first time. Once we did, the person who took our order was never seen again and other random wait staff brought our food and checked in on us when one of our waters were completely empty. Nothing was compensated off of our tab. Overall, this was just a really disappointing experience that no one seemed to care had occurred. It's unfortunate because we do enjoy their food, but I'm not sure we'll be back anytime soon. read more
