Hungry after a flight, Whatabutger was not far from my hotel so I gave them a visit. It was well past dinner time so they were not busy inside but it seemed like the drive thru was keeping them busy. Tried the sweet and spicy burger, well that has a lot going on, found it more sweet than spicy. I ate inside so I was able to watch the staff and they all seemed to have assignments and were busy taking care of those assignments. The flat top grill looked well maintained and the cook took pride in keeping her space well kept. Could the tables in the dining area been touched up, yes, but I was able to find a clean table. Overall not bad, good leadership and I enjoyed my meal. read more

I ordered food for delivery. I was pleasantly surprised on how quick my order was delivered. I was staying at a near by hotel and the delivery driver delivered my food right to my room door without having to call me. Kudos to following directions in my order. I ordered the Breakfast Burger meal. I loved all of the different modifications you can make. From the bread, cheese, and add-ons, you can really make this burger catered to your tasting. I thought the Ranchero Picante style is a great way to add a little spice in your burger life. The egg tasted freshly fried, which really elevated this burger. The hash browns on the burger is the sure winner. I loved the signature creamy pepper sauce, definitely be sure to not omit that. They don't have a gluten free bun, but you can order it with no bun. It was a really great tasting burger. Pretty comparable to a couple of my favorite West Coast burger spots (names shall be left unknown). The hash brown sticks were perfectly crispy and soft. I got a side of their spicy ketchup, it was super good. Don't sleep on this delightful condiment. For a drink, I like how you have so many options to choose from. I went for an orange juice for a small up charge. Overall, this was a delicious breakfast. It arrived hot and fresh. My order was delivered correctly and I was happy with my meal. read more

I am full and satisfied. First, I was greeted as soon as I walked to the counter. I forgot the lady name but the receipt said Sandy. It was a tall young lady who was very nice when taking my order. This location is usually busy but my food came out within 5 minutes. As I waited for my food I noticed the restaurant was nice and clean. Onion rings are one of my favorites. And yes, I had it for breakfast. If you haven't tried the breakfast on the bun ranchero, you should. They cook jalapeños in the egg and top the sandwich with picante sauce. Things to consider? I didn't get my food. Staff was no help and uncaring. I wouldn't know about ambiance either. Placed an order online. NOTHING WAS SAID about a power outage. Got to the window. team member said power was out and can't take orders.......through the glass door of drive up. Said I had to call corporate. I called the customer service number. A bit lackluster to be honest. Double Whataburger: It's a very well rounded burger actually. But somehow resonates "Whopper",,, the weaker version. Still good, but would rather have burger kings signature. Sweet and Spicy BBQ Burger: This one is actually pretty good. I would probably recommend ordering this one rather that the burger that bears their name. I did tell my friend about me going to Whataburger when I was in Houston. Told her that I got the burger too. Her reaction was, "nobody gets the burger at Whataburger! That's how they can tell you're not from arouns there." Anyways, aside from my enthusiasm being shattered. I still had a good experience here. The drive through was short and easy. I love me some Whataburger and this is a good one! I've eaten inside and gone through the drive thru and had awesome service and food every time! It's super close to work and usually pretty easy to get in and out of. Definitely easy in the early morning when I go in as no ones on the roads! I like pretty much everything on the menu. Especially the chicken tenders with gravy. Mmm mmm! I even love their fries as I'm not a big French fry lover but the fries and spicy ketchup make me super happy! Of course the lemon pies are TDF! Man those are so much better than apple, although lemon-hating hubby wouldn't agree. I have no issue with the food, I prefer Whataburger's food to all other fast food choices. Its the service that I find so disappointing. When I see that big beautiful orange it is on like Donkey Kong and my stomach demands we stop and investigate, if it is a new location we have not previously tried. When I am actually in the area I seem to be doing a lot of back and forth between Galveston and Houston, so I am getting to try places just off i-45 that I never would have otherwise moseyed into. However being busy and all that means grabbing whatever food you can quickly get - and you can usually trust the big orange monster to deliver something edible. Thank you McDonald's for not opening until 5:00 a.m. because destiny has it that I happened to roll across the street to this particular Whataburger and ran into somebody I havn't seen in a year. I usually order the breakfast taquito, which isn't too good but not bad either. Prices must have changed in a year or so because what was once my $2.29 for one is now $3.59, ouch. The cashiers are pretty much a friendly cashier but for this particular visit on 3-11-12 at 5:00 a.m I think the ghettoness kind of leaked out. What kind of got me was when you order a combo, you get tater sticks and a coffee. I did not want coffee this morning so asked if there was a soda or even orange juice. Don't go thru the drive-thru at this location if it is raining. We went through during a rain storm. Unfortunately, both the menu / ordering location AND the pick up window are both uncovered. I got soaked on my left side trying to order, pay for, and pick up my food. This entire experience is the reason for my complaint. What a burger on Telephone road. Has very in competent people working there. Ordered a number 5 & 2. Number 5 had no bacon number two was supposed to be double meat. It only had 1 meat. This was just a quick trip through the drivethrough on our way to BARC. Friendly service but what really stood out was one of the ladies who was out cleaning up the property. This area of Houston has what seems to be a large homeless population and we noticed a lot of litter. It was great to see that this staff member was taking the time to care for their property. Unbelievable I tried Whataburger for the second time, decided to give it another try since 2007, unfortunately it was a disappointment again! As a Cali gyrl having to hear about the rave that Whataburger is much better than our California grown In-N-Out Burgers, was an absolute insult! Fries were previously frozen n dry, Patty melt was tastey, and so was the spicy ketchup, Altjough i make mine at in n out with their yellow juicy chili peppers. Onion rings were ok with their tempura batter, needed more crunch. Cinnamon roll was ok but nothing close to a Cali Cinnabon. Lemon pie was mostly crust with very little filling. Pepper sauce was pretty tastey and was what saved my onion rings n fries Overall my expectations were a great disappointment and will most likely never return, would rather starve before I give it another try.
