This Whataburger is located on University and Pin Oak Rd. by the Super Walmart in Edinburg. I've been here many times, and most visits were very good, but this time was exceptional. The building is well maintained and clean, and there is plenty of parking. I was there at 1 PM during the lunch rush, and although the parking lot and dining room were mostly full, I had no wait to be served. The lady at the counter welcomed me, and was friendly and efficient. I went straight over to fill my glass with their fresh brewed iced tea. I was still fitting the lid onto the drink and about to find a table when Joanne called my name with my order in hand. That was fast service! And I noticed the same thing happened to a few others. My food was fresh and hot, the fries crispy, the burger delicious. Obviously, the management is good, the kitchen staff are on top of things. Joanne (I happened to read her name tag) was a ray of sunshine, zipping around, delivering orders to the customers, clearing tables, offering tips, and keeping folks happy. Fucking Texans! They having people believing the Dallas Cowboys are "America's Team" and that Whataburger actually makes a decent hamburger. My burger looked like it was just slapped together. The bacon in my burger was like the cheap all-you-can-eat pieces of bacon. The cheese had little flavor and the hatch chilies were a little dry and lacked flavor too, just like the hamburger patties. One of the worst experiences. I ordered online and came to eat in the restaurant. My food was not ready yet, although I indicated that I was close by. I asked for no salt on the fries and the employee thought to get the already old made fries throw them inside the oil to warm them up and serve them to me so he wouldn't have to make new ones. They tasted terrible. I asked three times to have new made ones but the fries never came. I did not enjoy my meal waiting for the fries to come. I talked to the manager who did nothing more than apologize to me. I was disgusted from this behavior and the way I was treated. Unfortunately, they lost a customer. Extremely disappointed with the way they handled my sandwich just now. I realize it's 2am, but that should make it somewhat better since you don't have to deal with too many customers. I open my bag and my fry box is full of ranch and buffalo sauce so it made a mess when I took it out. It looks like they just tossed in my sandwich and made it with no effort whatsoever. About a year ago they had closed down to renovate, maybe to upgrade the kitchen and speed up their drive through service. The inside doesn't look much different, but they did add another drive through lane. It hasn't helped, and it feels like it's compounded the problem. In addition they still ask you to pull forward so the machine doesn't beep (order's taken too long) and they don't get noted for the delays in orders. If you dine in they'll get your order correct and you can enjoy your meal. If you try their drive through, have them repeat your order because any time they don't it won't be right. I hate coming to this whataburger even after the renovation because their drive through will almost always mess up your order. I went to whataburger on 06-1-18 and found a little spider coming out of my food bag. I went into the store to replace it and they did. As far as fast food burger joints go, Whataburger is tops. Each burger is individually prepared, with a nice variety of topping options. The fries are delicious. Like any good Southern chain, they use sweet pickles, and also offer grilled onions and jalapeños (in addition to fresh). Shakes come in regular and malted. This used to be my favorite Whataburger. Their burgers were juicy and delicious. But lately, the opposite has been the case. They're cold and have few vegetables on them. I usually love Whataburger hamburgers but I will never eat takeout from this establishment (or the Closner location) ever again. 5 out of the last 6 times my order has been wrong, and this is not an exaggeration. Aside from that, the service is extremely slow, and by the time you get your food, it is COLD. The Sprite tonight had absolutely no syrup. I have had the same experience at both the University and Closner locations. I have alternated between the two to see if maybe, just MAYBE they will get it right this time, but they just keep failing. I wish I was wrong, as I really used to enjoy these burgers. It is sad that their service AND quality has sunk so low. Maybe it is poor management, maybe it is poor employee selection, but it is obvious they just no longer care. Absolutely the best location in Edinburg. I moved close by eight years ago and always come here. Food is always top notch and fast.

i like whataburger in general but i like this one the most. It gets very busy during the day though since its so close the university.
