What a great event last night put on by WGBH! "An evening with Sherlock Holmes" had plenty of food, drinks, speakers and mystery fun. Lots of fans in costume and plenty of things to look at and do. Photo booth, fingerprinting, and a crime to solve made this plenty if fun. It was $75 for non-members and $65 for members. You will get your monies worth. Parking was nearby in their lot and free. You could also donate $15 and get a mystery bag. Inside mine? Books, CDs, and a Downton Abbey Bell!

I have always loved the programming at WGBH. I have supported many programs over the years. So when my optometric practice was contacted by an advertising company (PERKS) that specifically partners with WGBH ( They had a WGBH letterhead welcoming us ), I thought it was a great fit. Unfortunately, PERKS took thousands of dollars from us. They not only failed to put us in their advertising program, they refused to refund us. So my only recourse was to fight the charge on the credit card, and of course contact WGBH. I was unable to get a response from either Mary Sparacia or Donna Stone at PERKS. I had also called WGBH on three occassions and was told I would hear back. No one has ever called me back and they continue to charge us monthly. I cannot find PERKS on Yelp or I would rate them too. WGBH makes a lot of money on donations, and I thought that they would me more interested in a fraudulent company partnering with them. Think long and hard about doing business with these guys.

Its a decent place to throw a function. I guess it really depends on how you make use of the open space. The location is great and it is next to a big parking garage so parking is not an issue.

The best tv on tv can be found on channels 2 and 44. Locally made nationally broadcast programs like Nova, Frontline, and American Experience are seen alongside Globe Trekker, comedies & dramas from England, and American independent documentaries. 89.7 on the fm dial plays jazz, NPR (all things considered, fresh air, etc.), Car Talk, Prairie Home Companion, BBC news, classical music, and more. Be it television or radio, GBH delivers commercial-free content that informs, inspires, and entertains. Tune in.

One of my favorite channels on T.V. WGBH provides me with good old classics as well as BBC and ITV series.

I love NPR in the morning, all things considered, and jazz music at night. It's a great station. Thank you WGBH.

On a good day I get to work at 8, but then I am still missing out on two hours of silliness, Adolfo, ranting, Chili Guy... My afternoons are a little sad now. But, if you can listen in the morning you should. Tis quality entertainment my friends! Where else can you listen in to vote on a bracket for the Douchiest Douche bag? still a fan. must wake up early.

Tune in and you'll be greeted by Soundgarden, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, or mid nineties grunge and slight post grunge rock. Maybe if you're particularly unlucky you'll get something like Fred Durst yelling to himself. Now this isn't really their fault. I mean look what's out there right now. Evanesence? Mushroom head? Linkin Park? My Chemical Romance? None of these bands are really, well, good. Not to say that Alice In Chains is the best music ever created, but there was more universal like and overlap to that than listening to FALLOUT BOY. And I think that's why they haven't changed. 'BCN (as we call it here in Bahstahn) is still trying to cater to the 35 year old commuter from Quincy to the 15 year old high school student from Newton, to the 23 year old college guy. And rock's gotten too polarized for that. I used to listen to the DIAMOND DAVID LEE ROTH show back when that complete lack of funny was on the air and I couldn't believe it. Capitol try though, guys. Maybe the next wave of rock is brewing?

I think…read moreit's the same for everyone - year end at work and it's balls to the wall to get everything done. So it is what it is, but one thing I was concerned about was losing the spirit of the season while I take care of business. So I decided I needed me some Christmas music, prefable uniterupted by regular songs and commercials. So I googled and found that 103.3 is doing 24/7 Chirstmas songs. Yeah just what I was looking for. Surprisingly it's been very good. Actually better than I expected with a ton of Christmas songs I've never even heard of. The minus one star is for the abundance of commercials. I know they are necessary, but it's overkill. Kind of takes away from the spirit when your Dashing thru the snow gets interupted by endless commercials for Dunkins and Bernie & Phyl. It's definitely suited my needs for the season and keeping my Christmas spirit high. So if you are looking for a little something to help brighten the Christmasy Blues, this may just be what you are looking for.

It had Dale Dorman in the morning, Harry Nelson popping up every so often...all it needed was Johnny Dark during lunchtime and Eric Chase overnight to make us remember why kids gravitated so much to 680 on the AM dial years ago. Sure, there was a playlist but people like Dale would still slip in something obscure on a regular basis that would make us go 'wow,' and that we'd talk about a couple of times that day. Since Dale went to weekends and gave the morning shift over to Bob Lobel and Karen Blake the station has taken somewhat of a nosedive. Too bad it sounds like just about every other blah blah morning show now. On the other hand...the fact that Dale is still on and that J.J. Wright hasn't changed his schtick in years is enough of a justification to give WODS three stars. Good things...Dale is still on. Yay! The tunes are still awesome, even of the playlist restricts what we hear. Bad things...management lets Karen Blake talk too much and hasn't yet let Lobel run wild. He's witty, creative, ad libs very well...WODS should build the morning show around him. More traffic reports would help too.
