We took our young German Shepherd here for two weeks of boarding and some training. She was eight…read moremonths old. The owner put her in an ecollar and when we went to visit and check her progress she was thin and had picked up lice. She was terrified. She was supposed to stay longer but I was crying when we left without her and I told my husband to turn around and we went back and took her home. That was when we found the lice. I was devastated that we had unwittingly put our young dog in this situation. This was several years ago but... Beware!

I chatted with Kristina before booking her in to Howl-a-Day and she instantly put me at ease. She understood Pipers needs and didn't have a problem accommodating them. Because they have indoor/outdoor runs, Piper was able to stay separate from other dogs and humans and still get outside for play and potty time. :) When a snowstorm hit the morning, I was supposed to pick Piper up and I couldn't get out of Anchorage, she was able to keep Piper for an extra day no problem! Will definitely book with Howl-a-Day again! It's great to have another resource for boarding when unexpected travel comes up!

Wasilla Vet does not care about your pet, only their pay!!!…read more They were fully prepared to let my 5 year old Western Siberian Laika, Daisy dog, die unnecessarily! Daisy dog was pregnant and had a miscarriage. Friday her discharge was green/brown. I called Wasilla Vet, where she had been a patient, they couldn't get her in until Tuesday. I called every day to see if they had any cancellations so Daisy dog could be seen. No was all they said with absolutely no concern for Daisy dogs status. Never even asked any questions about how she is doing. Finally Tuesday came and upon an examination the Dr diagnosed Daisy dog with Pyometra. Said she needed surgery immediately or she won't survive. Dr said she only has days to live in the condition she is in. Actually told me "she'll be lucky to make it until Friday". I tried to schedule the surgery, but their calendar was full. Said they can 'squeeze' her on Friday morning. I reminded them that they just told me she will be dead by Friday. "There is nothing we can do until Friday" is what I was told. I begged them to bump another less emergent surgery and they informed me thay cannot do that. Told me if I want it done sooner I'll need to call an ER vet. I called, they charge $5000 for the same $1600 surgery. That's out of my budget and Wasilla Vet was well aware of that. They wished me the best, said they hope Daisy dog makes it until Friday and sent us on our way. I called numerous vets pleading for help! Finally Faith at Bering Sea Animal Clinic in Chugiak heard my cry, understood the severity of the situation and went above and beyond to get Daisy dog the life saving surgery she needed. She got her into the clinic at 6:30 Wednesday morning. As in the very next day. I will be switching my pets to Bering Sea Animal Clinic and I highly recommend you do the same! Don't let your pet be a victim of Wasilla Vets carless greed!

But we did want to check out the volunteer possibilities. Super friendly staff and a very organized volunteer process. All the dogs we visited were wagging tails and looking at us expectedly! Certainly worth adopting!! Their faces were so cute. I wanted to take them all home. The two volunteers we engaged in conversation were supreme-o. They were happy, smiling, and upbeat in a way in which it seems they really enjoyed their work. I cannot speak to the adoption process or costs, but it seems like it would run smooth. They have several rooms where dogs can go to meet and greet with potential adopters. I'm not sure about outdoor spaces or how you have your present dogs meet a potential foster sister or brother. I'll make sure to get clarification on that next time.

From the moment you pull into the parking lot, this place has that classic small-town Palmer feel--in the best possible way. Everyone there is incredibly friendly and welcoming, and you can tell right away that the staff genuinely care about the animals and the people who bring them in. We saw Dr. Barnes, and she was absolutely amazing. She took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all of our questions, and never once made us feel pressured into unnecessary tests or extra charges. It's such a relief to find a vet who is honest, straightforward, and truly focused on what your pet actually needs. My only real concern is that they might have tried to keep Piglet--because she loved them so much I'm pretty sure she was considering moving in permanently. I wouldn't have blamed them either. They make you feel at home the second you walk through the door, and you can just feel that everyone there truly loves their job and the animals they care for. That kind of atmosphere is hard to find. I cannot recommend this place enough for your four-legged family members. If I could give ten stars, I absolutely would.
