I asked Yelp for a recommendation and Oahu Windows and Doors contacted me very quickly. They said they would send Nick, "our repair guy," out to take a look and give me an estimate on a repair. Nick arrived exactly at the appointed time, took a quick look (and listen) at my door and diagnosed the problem in a minute or two. Then, since the problem was a seal on the door, asked me if I simply wanted him to remove the seal to stop the sound, and gave me the pros and cons of doing so. I said yes and he removed the seal and put things back together. He gave me some tips on what to use to lubricate the door, as well as--if I ever wanted to replace the door--what I should look for and how to save money. Alex was here every single day. He brought Scott and Anthony with him on different days and I couldn't have been happier with the crew we were given. Every morning we talked about the plan for the day, and what they needed from me. Some days they needed nothing, some days I had decisions to make. The thing I liked the best was I never had to bring anything to Alex's attention. He was on top of everything. Taking a little longer to get a certain window done? Alex told me. A screen needed to be resized and put in, he let me know before I noticed it wasn't there. Or the fact that one of the sliding door screens came in slightly bent. Just enough that you had to be particular about how you closed it all the way.. Alex told ME about the problem. That he already had a new one on order and they would get it handled. I didn't have to find it first a week later and ask to get it replaced. If there was a problem, he already had a solution. And when the typical finishing for the windows wasn't going to work, he took the time to find a solution that came out absolutely stunning. The initial quote and set up process wasn't quite as smooth. I felt like the communication could have been better once we signed the contract. Lack of contact made us a few weeks later in the schedule of getting them installed and that was a bummer. But the actual install couldn't have gone better, and it was meant to be I guess. Window world won't be your cheapest option. But they back their work, they stay until it's finished and the lifetime guarantee on their windows is great peace of mind. I'm going to be as specific as possible, so you see what I mean. This was a complex project. The house is gigantic, near the ocean, and built like a hotel. It has had very little maintenance since it was completed 35 years ago. Basically, all the windows and doors needed replacement. Greg, the owner of the company, is a smart guy with many years of construction experience. He is a tough negotiator in dealing with suppliers, and was able to keep costs down even lower than we expected. He has detailed knowledge about the pros and cons of a wide range of window and door brands. He told us honestly upfront how certain of our plans would be better if reformulated. For example, we wanted to remodel as needed to incorporate "big doors" facing the ocean. Greg introduced us to Service aluminum doors with narrow frames that slide and stack in one direction, so the opening appears to be very generous. (Those doors, incidentally, slide noiselessly with one finger. Also, the screens are literally invisible; we thought someone was coming back to install the screens, but they were already in place.) We're happy to say that every recommendation Greg made was right on target. Andre, the foreman on the job, is another smart guy, a certified engineer with a flexible and creative approach to problems encountered on the job. He worked in Germany for several years, and brought that country's high construction standards with him. Andre worked well with his crew. They seemed genuinely to like each other. There was no losing of tempers! Every time I looked out to see this group working, I thought well-oiled machine. The crew made fast work of the job. It was estimated by others to take 3 months, but they finished it in 3 weeks. Each step was performed competently, and checked to ensure there would be no leaks or wobbles. The crew had to level large sections of window banks, and they came up with solutions as they worked, so the product is perfectly level and straight. It also looks fabulous! The crew found mold under the trim on a sliding door installation, so they had to remove a sizeable section of the wall surrounding the door frame. They treated the mold and got the area ready to re-apply stucco and sheetrock. The repair is so good that it will not be visible. They found mold under the WTW carpet facing the ocean sliding doors. They pulled up a large section of carpet so they could remove/treat the mold. We now know that a whole carpet replacement is in our future. We wouldn't have known had they not been so thorough. As the work progressed, Greg checked in regularly to make sure everything was going as planned. Andre checked with us daily to make sure we were happy with the work and not inconvenienced. The crew cleaned up daily and then thoroughly at the close of the job. They kept noise to a minimum, and warned us in advance when the work would necessarily be loud. The work crew was remarkably well-mannered and good-natured. There were no bad attitudes. There was no smoking or trashing of the yard. The workers showed up on time on a regular schedule. Every worker had a high level of concern about noise and other inconvenience. Just as the job was being completed, I had to have surgery. When I got home, the crew presented me with a deluxe post-surgery gift basket! This wasn't a bribe; they already knew they were going to get a great recommendation. It was just further testimony to their excellence.

The sales person I worked with is Dorian . Yes he was very nice and a good sales person ( in the beginning) .. knows his stuff and came by personally to check out my window layout . I put in my order just before New Years . I was notified in April that it might come in .. in May . Did not hear any updated news so I contacted the office . Did not come in till June and finally installed in July. I was pleased with the installation crew but they were missing two screens and the order was not 100% correct so I brought it to Dorian attention. ( the window openings) Two weeks went by .. then three weeks then four weeks and still no word about the missing screens . Finally I contacted the office and they said it came in and finally installed late August . But no one called me to update me on the screens . And although Dorian said he will check on the order where we had miscommunication on the window configuration ... He never got back to me . Typical sales ... he got the sale and the money and then they ghost you . I'm not sure if I could recommend them . Diamond Head gave better service and follow up although they were priced a little higher but I was trying to save some money since we're seniors with a fix income . (For the record.. I did the first half of the house with Diamond Head windows .)
