Missed the amazing Fall hues, but it was still nice to visit & walk or hike the trails. I did a total of 5.28 miles between paved trails and nature ones. It was lovely out there despite the fact the vibrant fall foliage was more dull and tan or browns. Personally, I loved it. I'd definitely go again. I parked at the Tobacco Barn and took the paved trail to the upward path to the overlook. From there, I took a right on a nature path and followed the river some. I'd say this trail system was easy to moderate with some steeper parts--I did have a hiking pole so I'm glad for that part of it. At the hours ticked by, more people took themselves on the paths too; not too crowded though.

Well kempt trails and easily accessible for average hikers and runners. I can imagine how pretty the views would be during the fall along the ridge that runs river. The main path is paved and is about 3 miles. Other trails into the mountain branch off.

Wow! You must take a trip to Weston, Mo! The fall colors are amazing at the park. We stayed nearby at a glamping place but took a short drive to this park. It is so beautiful; the best fall colors in October. Then, the adorable Weston town has many retailers, restaurants, cafes, wineries, and more. Mostly small local business!

Visiting Weston Bend is a great activity for social distancing! We checked it out for the first time today- the trails are fantastic! We hiked almost 5 miles around 3 different trails. We started with the paved trail, took the yellow trail up to the lookout and the blue trail back around to the paved trail. We arrived around 9 and saw very few people on the trail. We finished hiking around 11:30 and the parking lot was full. If you are trying to avoid people, I would suggest going earlier.

Campsite #26. Nice, secluded tent pad (dirt surface).

Nice little park with a nice campground and really nice hiking trails. We tent camp, so our favorite spot in the campground is #26, the only first-come first-serve non-electric site. It's one of the nicest in the park; near the restroom and isolated from the other sites. Plus, 2 or 3 nice grassy spots to place the tent. Our favorite trail is the West Ridge trail, a nice loop that provides a couple really nice views of the Missouri River and Fort Leavenworth. We haven't gone after the leaves fall off yet, but we look forward to the expanded views.

Different hiking options to choose from! We took the yellow and green trail. Can't wait to come back in the Fall.

Nice clean campground. Great hiking or walking trails. The paved trail goes along the river and there are some beautiful views to take in.

Blue Springs Campground - Lee's Summit, MO…read more We recently stayed at Blue Springs Campground, located inside a well-maintained county park in Lee's Summit. It's a gated campground, which made us feel secure, and they offer a discount for military veterans--definitely appreciated. We tent camped on a site with electricity, but found that the space had very little flat, grassy area for setting up a tent comfortably. It's clear that this campground caters more to RVs than tent campers. That said, the campsites were spacious, and the entire campground was clean, quiet, and well-kept. Bathrooms were functional and generally clean, but one downside was that they didn't provide hand soap, which felt like a basic necessity that was missing. The location is a big plus--just 15 minutes from Arrowhead Stadium, which is super convenient if you're in town for a Kansas City Chiefs game. Be aware that outside firewood isn't allowed, and you must purchase it on-site for $7 per bundle. Overall, it's a peaceful, tidy spot with generous sites and a great location--just be prepared if you're tent camping, as amenities lean more RV-friendly.

I forgot to check in while I was here. This is a great camping spot when in town for a chiefs game…read more It's only 17 minutes from the stadium. Also, there is easy access to the highway and a mega gas station. Super Walmart and super target are also less than 10 minutes away. What I loved about it, is that it is small and easy to get in and out of also if you get a spot with electricity and water, the water is right there in your spot, you don't have to trudge to a common area water pump. The couple that runs the area is super friendly and helpful and the grounds are clean and well kept. Also, another great thing about it practically all the campers there are in RVs so it appeared that no one else was using the bathrooms but us. Major score and they were also super clean and free of spiders, I personally am very thankful for that. Blue Springs is now our go to spot for future games until it gets too cold to camp. The only downside is that you cannot bring outside wood, you have to get their wood @ $7 a cord and the prices are small and dry and burn up very quickly, 4 cords of wood didn't even last 1 evening. So while the spot with water and 50 amp electricity was just $56 for 2 nights, we spent $35 in wood and after that burnt out, we just did without. Also, DO NOT USE GPS to find it, you will end up over an hour away on someone's private property on a dirt road, you must use the directions via Google.
