Just a fantastic, peaceful gathering space and I'm so glad the city had the foresight to build this park and not just add more rows of houses. I have many fond memories of moseying down here with my daughter when she was a baby through about age 4 -- perfect playground for that age. Also my buddy Scout, my dog of nine years and I have been here with wind chills of -20, and on summer days in the 100's. There are so many friendly people and we sort of band together with our pups on the coldest days. We found community here with an organic, casual dog meet up group.. I still miss it, my new neighborhood doesn't have the same energy. You'll find it packed on snow days with sledders dominating the perfect sledding hill. Those first real warm spring days give way to people playing baseball, throwing frisbees and cooking out. My only knocks are that there needs to be better crosswalks around here. Cars really fly through this area, unfortunately, and the city could take some better precautions. Additionally there's no bathroom. Funny how when I lived a five minute walk from here I didn't mind, but now when we visit and there's nowhere to go, it's definitely more noticeable. Anywho, it's a true gem for this dense neighborhood.

Primarily I just hiked around but I saw many people bird watching, and enjoying the quiet nature as well. The best part is the scenic overlook that gives a beautiful view of the river valley, especially at sunset. When I visited the park, it felt calm and less crowded. That definitely makes it a nice place for families or anyone who wants a break from busy life. My suggestion to everyone one is to hike at this park and then head to the town of Weston to enjoy some hot wine at Pritle Wineries followed by amazing food at the O'malleys pub.

If you hike along the West Ridge you will climb up to the ridge and come up to some overlooks that look into Kansas. The park was unmanned on Indigenous Peoples Day, but folks were able to access the park. If you have pets, the park has a small dog park at the front end. Plenty of benches can be found along the lower trails to take a load off. Right now the leaves are turning into their fall shades and the birds that come in the fall are arriving for the birders that are on the hunt. Plenty of information can be found at the trail head. There are clean bathrooms. The water fountains don't work, but the taps do. The weather today was awesome. I will return.

I put my map GPS in according to the yelp posting and that is actually incorrect. The yelp will lead to the entrance of Turner elementary school and it is an entrance just a bit farther down from that particular entrance. I went to look for a playground area for my 2 1/2-year-old grandson. The first playground was very poultry and outdated so we did not stop. I continue to drive through and the next playground was actually worse! It was a larger one and you have to park a little bit away from it so I didn't see how bad it was until we got right up on it. The playground equipment needs to be torn down as soon as possible, it is a complete health/physical hazard to any child or adult. It is right next to some tennis courts that are completely overgrown with weeds. The playground equipment is completely rusty, one of the slides is cracked so that if a child were to go down, they would probably be cut on their underside of their legs. There is graffiti all over the equipment. The trash can that has no lid next to a bench, was completely filled with trash. It is obvious that the only thing they're doing at this park is barely mowing the grass! The only two people I saw at the park was an elderly lady walking her dog and she was actually walking the dog on the road. I did not see any walking trails from where I drove. Then there was a couple that was under the cover picnic table area and they were flying a drone. The fire station is located right next to the park and most likely the ambulance which is a good thing because someone's going to need it if they play on that play equipment!

It's a newer place set and it has a set of swings as well that are nearby. There are two toddler swings and two regular swings. This park is used often for soccer games. The turkey Creek Streamway is right nearby and there is a seating area to look at it and some families climb down the rocks to explore. There are some picnic tables as well. Abundant parking.

Frank Vaydik Park is fantastic! The park is home to the Kansas City Northern Railroad which is a…read moremodel train for kids to ride on. It's a must do if you've got young kids. The Line Creek Community Center is also located in this park. They have a snack bar, pool, and public restrooms inside. There is also a playground located nearby. Our favorite part of this park is the trailhead to Line Creek trail. It's gorgeous! Line Creek is so enjoyable to look at and listen to while walking on the trail. The trail is concrete and very wide. Plenty of room for pedestrians and bike riders. The trail is very hilly one direction and flat the other way. The huge trees provide plenty of shade along the trail. A nice surprise on a hot summer day. There are several access points to the creek from the trail. The creek itself is never more than knee deep and fairly clear water. Our kids and dog love to wade around the small waterfalls. Bring water shoes! The rocks are very mossy and can get slick when stepping on them with bare feet. To get to the easiest access point for the creek go left at the first T intersection you come to from this trail entrance. The hillier path to the right will also lead you to a creek access point, but the route to the left has the small waterfall and better wading for kids. During the summer you might run into groups of summer camp kids enjoying the creek as well. It can be a busy place on a nice day! We did come across four snakes while playing in the water. None of them seemed to be threatened by us or our dog, but we still gave them plenty of space. For the most part they just swam away once they noticed us. Just be careful where you step! They sun themselves on the rocks and swim around looking for small fish to catch. In addition to snakes we saw lots of birds, fish, and a mouse. Lots of little critters to look for. The only thing lacking from this part of the trail are doggy cleanup stations (bring your own bags please!!) and bathrooms outside of the community center for after hours use.
