goodbye westminster mall! you've served this community for so many years and although this is my first time visiting, i couldn't help but bear witness to your fantastic atrium! what a beautiful place to visit and i am sad to see it go. the mall is due for closure on 10/29 when most stores' leases are up. the target and best buy are expected to stay. the mall is purposefully closing to allow the multiple property owners to redevelop the land that the massive building sits on. it's quite obvious seeing the features this mall was built with, it was expected to service a massive crowd... a few years ago. the floors are cracked , uneven and missing chunks. the whole building smells quite humid and wet inside, smell akin to a pool. that just means the property owners chose to leave the mall in disrepair for the purpose of redevelopment. i love the skylights that adorn the ceiling and around sunset it was beautifully painted across many storefronts. it is a delight to see and i am happy to have experienced it! goodbye westminster mall! excited to see what the planned redevelopment will look like... in time. read more

This mall has fallen on hard times. + Was my childhood weekly getaway. Loved going to GameStop and Book-off here. And just hanging out with friends. + Some relatively new interesting shops here, including VR, escape games, and fencing. + Free and ample but crowded parking. - Still, now almost half the shops have closed, and a few got clearance sale and "everything must go!" signs. If you want a good shopping mall experience, hard to beat SCP. . Enjoyed the Anime Market here though (Oct '25). Lots of interesting merch and cosplays. Was very humid though. On a Wednesday 2 PM, there was about approximately 1/10 of the stores open only! There are Two working escalators on each far side, but the two in the middle of the mall are not working. The beautiful carousel, well nobody was at it, and nobody was on it. I did see two security guards walking around the basically deserted empty mall. One of my kids wanted to go to Cinnabon. They were open and because there's no competition and that specific area the whole front of the mall )through the side entrance) everything smelled like Cinnabon! From what could gather from the few remaining store employees, some of the stores remaining have leases until 2028 Additionally, the few remaining gave me the impression that they plan to stay there until then. I'm under the impression they are waiting to be bought out! many of us that grew up in Orange County (Gen X especially) have teenage memories being at Westminster mall. When I heard that at the end of this month it was going to permanently shut down, I had to visit. The few stores left had their normal selection, and items were on sale, like 50 to 70% off. Side Note: I hope the carousel goes to a nice place such as Balboa fun zone, because the Balboa fun zone original carousel is now at Irvine great Park. Finally, It was a good time to reminisce, with my kids n family, I'm glad I went here for most likely my last experience at this mall. Oh ! The elevator is working! Westminster Mall was originally opened in 1974. Unfortunately this mall is pretty much a ghost town - dead food court with very few food stands, Macy's store closed in March 2025, and 90% of shops here are closed. Pros? Super easy parking and they still have functional massage machines (main reason why I came here). In May 2025, the Westminster City Council approved the plan to construct 89-unit townhomes on the grounds of the Westminster Mall shopping center and the end goal is converting the mall into a mixed-use project including residential, retail and entertainment uses. The end is near so enjoy the nostalgia while you still can. read more

Growing up, Westminster Mall was the absolute hangout. If you were going to Westminster to hang out, it was at the city mall. It was always busy and had a lot of my favorite stores. I even worked here during my college years as it was right down the street. Today, I had a return to make at Victoria's Secret so I made my way over. I knew that Westminster Mall nowadays is not a super hot spot but I was not aware that it's literally a ghost town now. It was so sad. Parking is great. Such a huge lot. The mall was well maintained, a little run down, but definitely still being looked after. The only well known stores that are still standing are, Bath and Body Works, Macy's, Victoria Secret and Target. I arrived about an hour before closing time on a Saturday night and the food court was closed and the escalators were not running. It was also almost completely empty. The Target that connects to the mall, only has the main entrance open, the doors that connect it to mall are no longer open. Unfortunately, unless I'm in the area and in need of the stores just mentioned, I can't see myself popping back in for a hang out or some window shopping. This place is definitely in need of a facelift, and luckily the city rumor is that in the future Westminster Mall is to be remodeled. It still will a shopping center but residential housing will be added. The city of Westminster needs a hot spot for entertainment, and with how much room this place provides, it's perfect. Waiting on the liveliness to be brought back! As sentimental as I feel, I'm hoping that this remodel happens soon, and I'm excited to see what it becomes next. read more

With coffee in hand, I needed a plan. 'Cause I couldn't get food Since wifey be wanting some noods. Nevertheless, I went on this unusual quest To do what people do when they aren't eating. What do people do when they aren't eating? Why do people do when they aren't eating? So, as my brain was in distress, I consulted with yelp. A few miles away was Kawaii Klaw But it was in the Westminster Mall. "Huh", I quizzically thought in my head. I genuinely thought that place was dead? Apparently they would be putting homes in that stead? So I entered into the mall through JcPenney Haven't seen one of those since the 1980s Inside the mall there was a Cinnabon There were anime shops, but not much else to look upon. Even target was locked up. 1 in 20 shops were open to shop. I did end up at Kawaii Klaws and spent over an hour Won five plushies with $20, a wonderful endeavor! But there's not much left in this struggling mall I'd recommend it only if you know what you want. read more

Stopped by Westminster Mall for the Anime Night Mart which had a bunch of stalls and other activities going on. The event itself wasn't too bad but the facilities were questionable in terms of cleanliness, and the escalators were not running and one side of escalators were blocked. The elevators were similarly questionable in that it worked but the lights did not turn on when waiting for it to come down to the first floor and inside the button next to floor 2 was open. The restrooms itself also smelled awful, and some toilets wouldn't properly flush and the paper towels were very difficult to pull out. The hand dryer was also not very powerful. The mall also had some stores that were open but a lot of it was closed or empty store fronts. One place that was popping was the pretzel shop that had a long line, other than that other shops were empty. Overall, quite a sad mall to visit. read more

Came here literally because my son wanted to "urban explore". It's creepy and interesting all at the same time to see the mall that us older folk have a very different vision of in our head. Honestly it's not as dead as TikTok videos would have you believe, although it's not as alive as anyone remembers either. The places that remain are mainly just food court favorites and mainstays like Bath and Body Works. There's also some oddities like a tabletop RPG shop and what looks like a garage sale of random used electronics and housewares, but in an unmarked store. The value is that you can get your items today and have it in your hands before you leave. You also have the add of a customer service person to assist you along the way, in case you have questions about the Mongolian BBQ you're about to eat. I'm not sure what will come of the mall, if they're wise they can pivot to be a meeting/convention type of place; they have built in food and such, so maybe..? read more

It's an old mall, clean but dated looking. Parking is more crowded on the Target side. Businesses that interest me: Macy's with Backstage, trendy clothing section at reduced prices JC Penney (next to Macy's) Best Buy Luxe Buffet Sky Trampoline Park Bath & Bodyworks PINK by Victoria's Secret, As Seen on TV products Lids and a small food court. It's not my first choice for mall shopping but I buy the most from the women's clothing section at Macy's and JC Penney. read more

**Ghost Mall review #2** Went here last Friday to visit a baby popup store which is on the upper level north side. I can never say Westminster was really ever a go-to mall for me in the last couple decades, because I always tended to hit up Brea or South Coast or Cerritos malls depending which was closer. However since I reside in north OC these days (about 5 miles from Cerritos Mall), I would still venture to Westminster on occasion for something. I strolled into the mall parking like hey cool we're the only ones here - is this entrance even open? Went to the lower level parking which apparently is pretty much the least popular except for people trying to charge their electric car while sitting inside. I guess this was close to JC Penney if memory serves. Walking inside the mall it eventually became clear to me that like Buena Park, this has become a ghost mall. Strolled around and found many stores (even large ones) were either nonexistent or closed. Couldn't access Target from the inside of the mall so wasn't sure if it was even open, but good news it is. Couldn't find an elevator which was troubling and so tried to enjoy the strolling around however they removed almost all chairs or benches inside the mall. Also I think there used to be a carousel at one of the ends. Looking at the map online, it seems this is near Macy's. So next time I will definitely park there to start/end my journey. There is only one busy parking outside the mall upstairs near the buffet. So try one of the other entrances if you want to park super close. I would love to come back to this mall again in the future and stroll around or visit any new shops that open, but for now it's more of a ghost town feel. Other good news is the food court is still open, but there's nobody there except weekends it seems. The other upside is Macy's and JCP still exist. There's also a Sky Zone inside the mall. I also saw a John's Incredible Pizza but to me it looked closed down, which was oddly surprising and kinda sad lending to that ghost town feel. A brewery restaurant upstairs in the mall we also tried to visit was shut down for good. Here's to some ghost mall walking in the future, here in my backyard at Westminster Mall. But looks like I'm going to have to watch out for zombies. read more

When I was a little kid, this mall was where all the older kids hung out and where we went trick-or-treating for Halloween. Sadly, this place has been dying for at least 2 decades, and it just gets worse and worse every time I visit with more store closures. A lot of zombie apocalypse movies will feature some type of collapsed mall, and after growing up near this mall, well..this is why. I get that COVID-19 was hard on businesses, but the problems with this place happened way before then and letting a huge space like this languish for multiple decades is inexcusable. This is a prime example of what happens when businesses are too slow to react with the changing times and a city is too apathetic to respond to community needs. I read that they are finally taking measures to redevelop the land to make space for new development, townhouses, and affordable housing, which is amazing, but with four owners and lots of bureaucratic red tape, let's see how long that takes. read more

I guess the stored and the mall change their hours. I went Friday and notice Macys having 60% sale. Macys will be closing their doors for good at that location on 31st. I found out they close at 6pm so I barley had time to shop since I went right after work. Found out the mall itself closes at 7pm! When I was there a few months ago everything was open til 8-9pm. I have a feeling the mall itself may be closing for good in future, hardly any stores left and it's like ghost town there! I do love no crowds and how I can just walk around to get my steps in for exercise! Lol read more

Out dated indoor mall. Barely anything there. Not worth the trip except for a few stores. We stopped for snacks at Annie's pretzel shop.

Pretty nice and spacious indoor mall with over 100 shops, eateries, and and a large food court. The department stores are JC Penny's and Macy's. This mall has most of the usual shops that you would see in a mall however they have some other cool places like the Chuze Fitness Center and the Sky Zone. They also have John's Incredible pizza. I believe this mall is fairly old, but it still seems nice. It has two floors and like mentioned earlier has shops like Lids, Cotton On, Hot Topic, and Victoria's Secret among others. I enjoyed my time here, and they have a lot of parking available as well. I recommend this mall. read more

Five Stars for the Santa Photos Operation that's still happening this 2024 Season! Though there is very little of this mall (indeed the hangout place for so many of us back in the day), remaining; they have retained the Santa Photos! Hoorah! Every minute the mall is open, between now and Christmas Eve. Located in no-man's-land beneath the food court right where John's Incredible Pizza and Vans used to be. Come on down! This mall is becoming emptier and emptier. A lot of the stores have closed down but they still have a few good ones. It reminds me of an old mall that needs an update. But in any case it is a decent place and right next to it they have a huge Target as well. I will definitely come back at some point to do some more shopping read more

No complaints about this mall. It's as expected it would be, especially after the pandemic. It's holding on the best way it can. Among it's few shops that remain open, there are a couple of better known brands that I believe keeps them going. It's quiet. Definitely that "ghost mall" feel that you'll find mentioned in a lot of other reviews. Told by locals that this was their hangout spot when they were younger, and it makes them sad to see it turn into what it is today. They do showcase some events however. Most recently, they had a really neat Donut Museum and last Halloween, there was a very well done Halloween experience offered here. Good spot to even just go for an indoor walk, reminisce, or make purchases those well known brand stores because chances are they'll be less busy than other locations. read more

I remember coming here as a little kid with my parents. I loved dropping by after getting picked up from school. My parents would usually buy me some Sees candy and Wendy's, but sadly both businesses are gone along with most of the stores. The guy from the Last chance outlet store told me the mall will be permanently closed by the end of the year. So sad read more

This took place on 10/27/24 at around 1:00pm. I haven't been to this mall in ages, I made a quick trip today to visit one particular shop. There are a variety of stores with decent prices. But I really don't know what is going on with this mall lately. It is desolate and 80% of the stores are closed. The remaining ones look like they are barely hanging on. Apparently there are also homeless vagrants hanging out inside and outside of the mall. Not appealing. As I was strolling through the mall downstairs, I turn a corner and this pack of about 15 junior high kids/delinquents on electric bikes literally pop out of nowhere and barrel towards me racing each other INSIDE the mall. Not one of them wore safety gear and none of them tried to slow down even though they clearly saw me walking. I had to dodge and weave to avoid getting hit by them. A few of them did almost hit me and run me over. I wish I had my phone on me to take pictures or a video. It was extremely dangerous and thoughtless of these teenagers. All I was thinking was where is security and these kids' parents??? If there were elderly people or little children walking around, they could have been seriously injured. They were riding in a pack so who knows what their intentions were or what they were up to. They treated the mall like it was abandoned or a skate park. Whoever is in charge needs to hire security or risk countless lawsuits in the future. I have no desire to visit this mall again, the first reason being that it is rather far for me. And second reason being that it is pretty dead and apparently run by vagrants and junior high kids on electric bikes. I ended up leaving almost injured and empty-handed because I did not find what I was looking for. Smh. read more

I went there just over a month ago, it was my first time ever visiting a mall like that. Just as everyone said, its empty and sad. So many closed stores and barely any foot traffic. I never thought I would see a mall so shallow with no people, like the mid 2000s were it's peak and it just dropped like that. It's an okay mall if you like free WiFi and no real food options other than noodles and rice and each store is owned privately so no air conditioning or changing rooms or fair return policies. The store is sometimes not open at all. Just a nice place to kick it if you have nothing to do. I think they need to build a FREE giant indoor playground for women and children because of climate change. Thanks for nothing WM mall. This place barely has any stores. More than half are closed/empty. Food court is mostly shut down. Many stores only open 3pm to 7pm. Target no longer connected to the mall, doors on that side are closed. Went into JC Penney, empty shelves and no other customers. Won't be back. read more

Great times with solid amount of parking. Handful of nice spots to eat out including the Cafe section. Some locally own eateries at least. Parking was pretty good in general. I was able to be at Target and able to feel comfortable shopping around. Mix of great things to do even for families. Though, there are some vacant spots inside but feels peacful to experience in a good way. Wish they can fill more down the line. read more

I visited here on 05-17-23, as soon as I walked in a wave of sadness came over me; this place looks terrible. What happened here? I remember when this mall was filled so many people and the store selection was great. As I walked through the mall with my friend we noticed the stains on the floor, how dirty the potties are, and the chairs looked like people stabbed them. Lol! I really think that Westminster Mall needs to remodel the place, switch out the stabbed seats for nice wooden benches, change the carpet to tile, hire staff that want to work in order to keep the place clean, and put in better stores like Nordstrom, Sephora, Ulta, just similar stores that are at Irvine spectrum. I'm hoping that this place is revived. read more

Why hasn't this mall been demolished? It has lost its service, selection and from the looks of it has NO value these days. It's so sad because when I was in High School in the 80's it was the place to be on weekends and holiday's. Getting a 1st job here was great too. It really seems like the 21st century ate it up. We came to take Santa pictures and of course no one in sight due to the mall going out of business, there was a line of us waiting with kids and we called to see wear Santa was at and all we got from somebody here at the mall is "I don't know where they are at, maybe they are on break" so point is no one is here to help us or to tell us if Santa will show up. Just skip this mall and go someplace else. So unorganized. read more

This mall is a unique attraction that makes people feel creepiness, loneliness, nostalgia, and adventurous at the same time. Want a job that you can just sit around all day?
