First off: their fake Native American village of teepees is atrocious, shameful, and completely racist and inappropriate. I tried not to let my kids see this but it is hard to miss. My family gathered here decades ago (pre-fake village), and we reunited there again recently. Location wise, it is a decent in-between place to meet, coming from South Florida, Orlando, and Tampa area. The website is lacking, incredibly confusing. Very difficult to understand what is free and included as part of staying there and what is for pay. Truthfully, I would have never gone here if it wasn't for meeting up with my family, because the information is so difficult to obtain - and for not wanting support the above mentioned part of the resort. However, in the end, I am glad we visited, and I would consider returning for another family meetup. I read the reviews ahead of time that said that there are no grocery stores nearby so I brought in all our own food and shopped before I left home. We stayed in the 'rail car' which is just a tiny house, and it had a full-sized fridge, two burners, a tiny sink, and cooking amenities, so this was fine. The rail car is great for accommodating more than 4 people - there is a large bed in the master, a bunk bed built into the hallway, and a pull out couch in the living room, the kind you have to put back in each morning to be able to use the living room. Screened in back porch and front porch were nice. Lots of issues: tv was broken the whole time, wasps on the back porch, bugs, dust, dirt, barely any outlets, broken porch furniture, but oh well. A special thank you to the awesome person from maintenance who came out and tried to fix the tv and addressed the wasp. The rail cars were perfect for small kids due to their location. The rail cars are set in a row, and the front of each opens out onto a shady field with lots of trees, a perfect play space for kids. You can be in the house and still see your kids running in the field. The field is fenced on one side and set back far from the road. My kids climbed the trees, re-lit the fire in the very safe and well-built fire pit, laid in the hammocks, ran in the field, and fed the horse living behind the fence at the back. Paradise for them. FREE THINGS we did while staying there: -Fishing at the pond/marine - line poles with hooks are free to borrow- my kids didn't catch anything and there are lots of gators but it is still a pretty spot and nice to try fishing without worrying about reels and hooks flying about -mini-golf (free use of balls and clubs from the rec office) - this 'course' is moldy and run down but my kids had a blast -rec center equipment: some small bikes, large games, lassos, and other small activities outside of the rec center, plus a free craft available -petting zoo: the highlight- we could have gone every day -playing in the fields, petting the farm animals around the property -use of fire pits outside There are lots of things that were pay-only that we did not do, and we didn't pay for any of the food options. If you're gathering here with others, make sure you try to stay in the same area of the resort. I would definitely go to the rail car again with a friend/family member next door. But also would consider camping here as it is much cheaper than any of the lodging options, though very expensive for camping standards! Other family members stayed in a cabin. So having to drive to each different housing section was a pain. I am not a fan of golf carts and there are a ton here. It is lamentable that there are no sidewalks and it is not feasible to walk from section to section as the various lodging options are set far from each other.

Hidden gem alert! I can't believe that I just discovered Westgate River Ranch! I highly recommend it!!! I went GLAMPING for the first time ever! I had such a wonderful experience at Westgate River Ranch! My time at Westgate really took me back to my childhood, when I used to go to summer camp, by really allowing me to be able to take time to unplug from distractions and simply reconnect with nature. Westgate River has so many camping style accommodations and so many recreational activities to keep you entertained! There's sure to be something for everyone. I stayed in the luxury Glamping tent which was awesome! Such a unique concept! I had the opportunity to tour the Teepee and the Conestoga Wagons but there are so many more camping options to choose from including regular/non luxury glamping tents, saddle cars, cottages, cabins, RV sites, to primitive campsites. With so many options, it really makes it difficult to choose, lol. But whichever you choose, you can't go wrong. If you are looking for things to do at Westgate River Ranch, the options are endless. There's an escape room, game room, fishing, clay skeet shooting, air riffle, air boat rides, trap shooting, adventure park for the kids, swamp buggy rides, Kissimmee River Queen Cruise, horse back riding, petting farm, archery, horse shoes, Mechanical Bull, mini golf, pony rides, tennis courts, swimming pools, nightly campfire lighting to allow guest to roast s'mores, and even a rodeo every Saturday night. Justin was awesome! He really took the time to explain the campground, go over everything about our tent, took us on a great tour and made sure we had a great time! If you haven't been to Westgate River Ranch, consider this your invitation, go!!

By far one of the best resorts, it was my husband and I and we had the cabin all to ourselves, but it also has such a great environment for the entire family that I am booking another 3-4 nights at this resort and bringing in the grandkids and the rest of the family to enjoy honestly anything and everything that you need it's all inside of this resort no need to go outside to find something and plenty of stuff to keep the kids happy as well as thanks for adults to have a good time they have this great bar with a dancing area inside and outside rodeo little amusement type park. They were finishing the outdoor pool. It was just very serene and absolutely great getaway to reconnect and recharge with loved ones.

My 21 year old daughter and I spent just the day here. We had a great horseback ride, ate surprisingly good pizza and shot air guns. We pet the animals in the petting area. We had an awesome day. All staff very friendly and helpful - horses strong and sturdy. Got to see a 24 hr old longhorn cow calf and a three day old foal. Lots of animals to touch and see. I wish i knew about this place when my kids were young! There was also fishing, skeet shooting, swamp rides and more to do. They're building a small water park also. Excellent spot for kids!

It's a great place but nothing is free except petting zoo which is not that great the adventure part should be free also but it's not $20 a person they should let you have that for free because you're paying an arm and leg already like to get into the place. Glass of Coke is five bucks breakfast sandwiches are 10 shots are 10 bucks apiece and remember they only take a debit card or a credit card no cash so if you bring cash cash, is not king here the bar is a good atmosphere

Visited here for an overnight field trip with my daughter. What a cute place in the middle of nowhere Florida that gives you an old country town feeling. The activities are great, the accommodations are nice. The property is clean. It definitely brings you into a mindset of taking in the beautiful surroundings of flora and fauna. Staff are super friendly, they were really accommodating to our kids and made the experience enjoyable for them. A plus is getting a golf cart to explore the property which is nice because things are spread out a bit (which I really liked). Looks like they have different themes for holidays based on when you visit. I think it's worth me coming back with the rest of our family to enjoy the place.

Escape room

This place is freaky cool. So much to do for a weekend stay. Foos isn't all that great. That's a downside. There is a German store but the food is meh. It's pricey to have fun here but my mother in law paid for all is for a fun girls weekend. We did an escape room & line dancing on Friday when we check in. Saturday morning horse back riding, the petting zoo, swap buggy, air boat ride, river cruise. Then a hayride follow by dinner. Later that evening there was an actual rodeo. Follow by outside dancing or dancing in the saloon. Apparently the saloon stays open until 4 am! Crazy. The next was check out but we had scheduled skeet shooting & archery. The type of room we got included all these amenities. You have to book them in advance and if you don't show up they do charge you $25.00 per person. They are serious about that. This place has an RV park, rent a tent, or glamour, or tons of other options. They are planning to build a water lagoon, & a drive through safari with tree house. Oh! There also a motel. So a variety of room it options. You can stay here with out doing a time share. This place is in the middle of nowhere. The drive into this place is long. I would like to come back just to do the water lagoon. A day pass. I can't afford to stay here.

What a great mini vacation at River Ranch Resort & Rodeo. I live in south Florida and always looking for something fun. This place was it! Check-in was fast, and great. The people who work there are extremely nice, and considerate. My friends and I decided to do Platform camping which is nice because the tent is provided and already set up! Electricity plugs are on the outside of the tent, and outside grills are provided. Platform camping was $49 a night which fit 6 people in a tent. They have various types of camping on the grounds like: GLAMPING, lodges, hotel, cabins, cottages, and Rv's. They have 3 restaurants on site. I only ate at the Smokehouse. Really good burgers and mozzarella sticks, and average pricing. I suggest you bring your own food and cook out to get that full camping experience :) Activites: Are stay included Archery, and petting zoo Paid activités I did were: Horseback riding Air boat ride (40 minute ride): $60 Saturday Night Rodeo was my FAVORITE. $25 and it was an amazing show with the horses and bull riders and more. After the show there is a street party with line dancing and live music. Mechanical Bull: $9 to ride it twice! This place is KID friendly! They had a lot of kid activities like bounce houses, fishing, rock climbing, mini golf, zip lining, petting zoo and more! One thing I HIGHLY recommend is renting a golf cart. There only 70$ a day for the 5 seater we got. It's way easier to get around to each activity and bathrooms if you are exploring the huge location! It was well worth it! The only con I would say about this place is if your camping in a tent/ RV the general bathroom is not the best. The showers had little to no privacy there was huge gaps between the stalls where you can see in, and the floors were extremely slippery. I definitely want to go back to do GLAMPING! If you have a tiktok you can check out how fun the activities were @biteswithsav

This review is strictly based on the Swamp Buggy Tour. Reservations were easily made thru their website and you did not have to be a member or guest of the resort to purchase. Upon arriving a few minutes early before our scheduled time to sign our waivers, it was not immediately clear where to go to do that. There is a building that says bait shop so I wandered in to see if I was in the right spot. There weren't any attendants outside near the marina or swamp buggy tour guides to greet us either. Three employees were inside, 2 behind a clear partition and 1 guy just off to the side. They completely ignored me as I walked in and continued their conversation with each other. I politely said excuse me, is this where we check in for the swamp buggy tour? One of the ladies finally did smile and said yes, then handed me a stack of waivers for my party. Once we got on the buggy, the driver was not welcoming at all. He didn't say one word to us and had this grumpy, pissed off look on his face. He took off driving and remained silent the entire 45 minutes. There was no narration whatsoever of where we were, what plants, trees, animals, etc. we saw, nothing. It was very awkward. I tried to ask a few questions during the ride like how deep the water was and the driver seemed annoyed and just mumbled he didn't know. The ride itself was ok and something different to do. We had great weather which made it enjoyable. The ride takes you thru the swamp/forest and you can see the tee pees and the horses walking on the trail. But the experience could have been so much better if the driver had any personality or even some tidbits of information to give. There only seemed to be about 2 swamp buggies running that day so not sure if both drivers are the same and don't talk or if it was our guy. Due to the pandemic, they do require all riders to wear a mask for the duration of the ride. All buildings in the resort also require patrons to wear masks inside.

Westgate river ranch is on the rise. My second time there was fun and relaxing. Lots of outdoor activities to do. Great family getaway for the weekend or a little longer. Plenty of accommodations to choose from to fit your family needs. Don't miss the rodeo, lots of fun....

Luxury glamping
Lindsey U.

We stayed in the new Luxury Glamping tent for 2 nights - Pros: the room was perfect, very modern with everything you'd need, super comfy bed, gets super cold with the AC and fan Community fire pit that comes with a s'mores kit Getting a golf cart is one of the very best parts We did the airboat ride which was great The breakfast delivery every morning is a cute touch Fast and efficient check in, you can also text with any questions instead of having to call Cons: only one real restaurant to eat at with nothing else in the area Some areas need renovations... the adventure section for instance with mini golf is extremely outdated Every activity costs extra money which really adds up if you want something to do all day They need to add more to do that can fill in gaps in your day, for instance scenic hiking trails, more animals at the petting zoo, a larger and updated adventure park, more daily activities like movie nights etc.

A few small things to consider- do not expect world class paddle boards, there is one SUP paddle that functions and two old paddle boards- kayaks seemed ok. The walk to the beach does require crossing a busy road, but once there it IS a nice beach, but you must bring all your own gear, including beach towels. There are not any beach rental chairs, etc. nearby. The wifi did not seem to work for us, the fan in the spare bedroom had a short apparently so my first night trying to sleep, it got up to 78 degrees in the room as we could not adjust the temp on the thermostat, the couch is not comfortable, the streaming buffered, so it took a couple hours to get that to work, there is a neighboring house with a large dog barking and although they warn you, I find it strange for the nightly price ($336/night!) to offer a small soap and shampoo. There is a washer, no dryer. The blankets were thin, beds were decent and the place was clean. There are no screens on any of the windows so you can't really get fresh air and there was a wasp nest above our bathroom window so definitely didn't want to leave a window ajar while showering. There is a "no refund" policy, so you are stuck there as we had wanted to check out after our first of two nights. There are not any walkable restaurants nearby. We were offered a couple of free nights to make up for all the mishaps we had. All in all, there were nice chairs and solitude by their water's edge. I could see a family enjoying the grounds and playing the outdoor games they had, but for us it was a letdown for the price. I think some people would be perfectly happy here but we had a lot of stress upon check-in and so many things not working properly.

Leading up to the trip, we made repeated efforts to communicate with the property about details and amenities. At one point, we were told their system had been hacked and that we should not accept emails from them for a period of time. Then, shortly before our trip, we received what they described as an "app," which appeared incomplete and contained little to no useful information. Taken together, the communication issues raised concerns early on. The day before our cross-country flight, we received a call from Charles, who identified himself as the head sales manager and said he was "the boss" when asked about a supervisor. He informed us that the Pelican House was no longer available due to a reported bedbug issue. Regardless of the reason, the timing left us with virtually no ability to make alternative plans. The replacement options offered were, in our view, not comparable. We specifically chose this property for a quiet, intimate beachfront experience with access to amenities like kayaks, canoes, and bikes. The suggested alternatives were larger, more traditional resort-style properties without the same privacy, beach access, or features we had planned around. While these were described as "nicer," the focus was on things like interior finishes rather than the experience we had intentionally booked. What made this especially difficult is that just the day before, we had conversations with staff where we shared that this trip was for our 20th anniversary during a period of repeated family tragedies. At that time, the tone was empathetic and understanding. However, once the cancellation was communicated, that empathy disappeared. The interaction shifted to a rigid, take-it-or-leave-it approach with no meaningful acknowledgment of the impact. We were given two options: accept a replacement that did not meet our needs or take a refund at the last minute--leaving us with non-refundable flights, a car rental, and no place to stay. There was no effort to provide a comparable solution or to help mitigate the disruption. After the call, I attempted to reach Charles again, but did not receive a return call. My wife later received an automated refund email. When I contacted Susan, the house manager, to confirm what had happened, the response was brief and, in our view, lacked empathy--stating only that they "couldn't risk it" because of bedbugs. From our perspective, this experience was deeply disruptive and disappointing. It left us with significant unexpected costs, no accommodations, and a milestone anniversary trip that had been planned for months effectively undone at the last minute.

We didn't pull out the bed since the couch was super comfortable so my son didn't want it pulled out. The provided LOTS of pillows which was VERY impressive. Room was very well laid out and clean. Shower was a little awkward since it's an open concept but water pressure was perfect. Hot and cold water worked very well. King bed was VERY comfortable. Firm but not rock hard. Hubby and I both slept like a rock. Big TVs in living room and bedroom. Lots of windows to let in all the sunshine! I only have a few suggestions/tips to add: 1. Heavier blankets. We had bedding for the pull out but a few heavier blankets would be nice. After being in the sun all day it's nice to be in a cold room under cozy blankets. 2. A sink in the kitchen area would be so helpful. Running back and forth to the bathroom to use the sink was a little annoying but not enough to dampen this review. 3. A broom and dust pan. This is a MUST. After 2 hours of being there our floor was covered in sand. I had no way of sweeping it up and since the bathroom was in the bedroom, we had a ton of sand on the floor beside the bed. 4. Sand rugs beside the bed to wipe feet on before getting in the bed. (I HATE sand in my bed) All in All this is a perfect place to stay if you're looking for direct beach access. We will 100% be coming back.

The area is very crowded, parkiing was notabundant, difficult to find the office, the room was…read morespacious, very clean, the beds were rustic but extremely high and difficult to access, there was not a step stool available, the beds were hard, no extra blanket, the TV did not work at all, leaving nothing to do but sleep, there was a canteen type food hut, not indoor seating, long wait for food, front office thought there was 2 laces to eat, lot of room noise in room but us almost all night, doors opening and closing often. I think if you are a senior citizen, this is definitely not for you. Also everything runs off of cash mostly, no credit or debit cards. We had a 2 night reservation and had to just leave early day 2. We just forged our payment. Would not go there again. The lady in the office was pleasant and in the air boat office was also pleasant!

Ever wonder where the quintessential southern campsites are located, look no further than Camp Mack…read more- this is where the piney woods meets up with the Florida swampland. You ain't never experienced old Florida charm until you been here, the land of airboats and alligators, a place where the mosquitoes swarm at dusk and the screeching wildlife will wake you before dawn. Ahhh this is the life I love, a place where the internet struggles to connect you with the real world, the only agenda here is rest and relaxation, a place where chores are something you'll look forward to, most consist of filling the yeti with ice and can beer and visiting your neighbors on your golf cart or 4 x 4 ranger. There are no strangers here it seems everybody shares the same mindset. I spent five days here and I didn't want to leave when it came time to break camp. This place is known for its fishing and believe me they are plentiful, it's a simple recipe - catch / clean / fry. I like beer but I'm not a beer drinker I prefer vodka so I stocked up before arriving, finding beer is easy if you like the hard stuff it's a trip to town I'm guessing it at least thirty miles round trip and leaving the camp will break the vibe and there's no reason to do that if you prepare. There are no typical days here every is different but everyday is the same in the sense that you own one hundred percent of your time while you're here, it's a place you can turn your phone off and disconnect for awhile and forget anything else exist - I know I don't do that enough but I do know this is the kind of life we should be addicted too. Okay okay I'll review the place instead of the lifestyle that seems to be the norm here. Things to do: cross the street and you're in a beautiful State Park, find a shady spot down at the boat ramp and watch one of the best shows on earth there seems to be an endless number of unique water crafts being launch or being pulled from the water (airboats, bass boats, skiffs, pontoon boats, jon-boats, etc) I say with the utmost respect this place is like the redneck yacht club where everyone seems to have a buzz e.g people ride in the boats while it's still on the trailer going down the road - yes they are creeping along but it's still fricking awesome. I recommend you leave any pretentious behavior at home and pay attention to the dress code it's very easy to look out of place here - acceptable clothing includes - anything camouflage, women should have a few pairs of short shorts and a ragged pair of cowboy boots and any kind of top you can tie in the front, men shirts are optional but a stained tank top and a pair of Tevas gets you status. After the sunsets fire pit sitting beer drinking attire rules can I get a little yeehaw repeat day two and day three and so on and so on. Other highlights include a visit to the outpost store lots of beer and snacks, a indoor fish cleaning area and a bait shop, a outdoor projection screen, community fire pit, you can rent bicycles and pontoon boats or take a swamp tour on an airboat. They occasionally have live music which I hear is pretty amazing with an outdoor food court and beer for sale. The campsites are large and plentiful with full hookups with concrete or paver pads, they offer up to 50 amps, water and sewer all included unless you're planning on staying awhile then you pay for utilities. There are a few bars and restaurants, maybe restaurants is a stretch but you can buy food on property. There's a lodge onsite if you don't have a camper and still want to experience this unique venue. Theres lots more I don't think it's possible to take it all in at least not in the five days I spent here - I believe having a good cup of hot coffee at sunrise sitting in your favorite chair is nirvana, having a cocktail at sunset in the same chair by the fire pit will rejuvenate you, there's nothing wrong with freeing your soul once in awhile...
