On our way home to Miami from Orlando, we had to make a pit stop and luckily we found this modern and convenient Fort Drum Service Plaza! It's located at mile post 184 in Okeechobee on the Florida Turnpike, about an hour past Orlando. They have a gas station, restrooms, a well-stocked market, several fast food places, like KFC, Nathan's, and Dunkin plus souvenir/clothing shops. Nathan's was selling their famous hot dogs! We were in a hurry because it was late and dark. We only visited the restroom, which was very clean and had plenty of toilet paper and paper towels. We felt safe in there unlike some other restrooms in other states. There was also an area to walk your dogs and stretch your legs. It is well kept overall, clean and nicely planned out. Super clean! Compared to Yee Haw Junction I would stop here any day. Another rest area on the Turnpike with a gas station. I noticed the Buddy's Bakeshop kiosk and got a rainbow cake. It was tasty, but I bet the real deal is better. read more

One of my least favorite rest stops. The bathroom and common areas are not exactly dirty but things look grimy for some reason. It does have a better variety of places to eat (e.g. Wendy's, KFC, Dunkin's, pizza, etc) and plenty of tables. There's a convenience type store and large gift shop as well. Pro tip: DO NOT stop here for coffee. Dunkin's is mega slow. The customer service is not bad, but I've never waited less than 20min to get a drink even when I was the only one in line. read more

Stopped at the Fort Drum Service Center while heading north to Gainesville, and it was just what I needed--a quick fuel and restroom break. The restrooms were clean, which is always appreciated on a long drive. I got gas without any issues, although the receipt didn't print at the pump. I went inside and the staff handed it to me with a smile--great customer service. Nothing fancy here--no frills, but it's a solid, reliable stop on the Turnpike. The service for Nathan's Hot Dogs and DD was terrible. The wait was incredibly long, and Nathan's hotdogs are weirdly strict about what you order which is absurd. I recommend no one go here. Don't waste your time. read more

This service station is one we s stop at on our way to Orlando. It's a good place to get out and stretch your legs, use the restrooms or get a bite to eat. The place is very clean but I've find that is hit or miss as to whether some of the food areas will be open. Another thing, the workers here 9 times out of 10 seem and act like they'd rather be anywhere else. They have a Wendy's, Subway, Villa Italian and a Dunkin here and a Sunshine market where you can get candy, chips, drinks and all sorts of souvenirs. Seems like just about everything at this plaza is marked up. If you need gasoline you can get it at the Shell station they have at the plaza. read more

Im torn between 3 and 4 stars. Its accessible, with dog parks and ev charging stations. Variety of food (pizza, kfc, wendys, earl and dunkin) plus their little market that has coffee and quick bites. Big bathrooms with maintenance staff, but there most be a plethera of people that go through here because they still felt iffy. I believe in systems and routines and I understand the rush, from circumstances and the inability to pivot and make changes are difficult, but with determination, grit, and teamwork anything is possible. The inability of lack of skills from those working affected the work environment . It wasn't till someone I believe came off HIS break that things started taking place of action. He did his best to lean in on support. Everyone that was operating the equipment was using NO gloves while handling the food. The rush set the atmosphere and employees in a frantic so the customer service went down hill. No organization. No manners. Confusion. Orders being handed in the wrong order. The person behind me got their order before myself. With the right management and team, I do think there's potential, but being transparent; it was a terrible experience. read more

I've been stopping here since I was a kid! Fort Drum is a rest stop on the turnpike that's easy to pull into from either direction. It has Wendy's, villa pizza, Dunkin, kfc, Nathan's, earl of sandwich, and a convenience/souvenir store. I was shocked by the prices! I don't know if maybe they jacked up the prices since it's a rest stop, but my normal combo at Wendy's was $15. Earl of Sandwich was also expensive, and people in my group told me that villa pizza was like $12 for a slice and a drink. They do have a ton of seating (which accommodated my group of two greyhound buses and what looked like a couple others), a kiosk ordering option, and a ton of bathroom stalls which were relatively clean. read more

Good selection of restaurants and pretty clean. However, if it's a sunny day do not use the Pet Park. It has artificial turf which gets scorching hot and will burn your dog's paws. There is a dog water fountain but the water is hot enough to boil shrimp in, unless you run it a long time (with gloves). Even then my dogs wouldn't drink it as it had an odor they didn't like, and they're not picky since I've seen them drink from puddles. read more

This is one of the pit stops for fuel we had to make on our way back from Mississippi. It's a smaller rest stop compared to others. It has a lot of bathrooms that are kept pretty clean. There's some fast food options and a convenience store type thing, but they are very pricey. Gas is reasonably priced, usually only 10cents more than off the highway. read more

Good signage with clear directions. Easy off the turnpike and just as easy back on the turnpike. Plenty of free parking. Clean, modern building, with a shopping mall-like food-court with plenty of dining options, clean and well maintained restrooms, lots of tourist information ... and again, Cake. I do love Vending Machine cake! The Shell Service Station was equally clean and maintained, and the price of gas was less than I would pay back home ... no gouging here. Revamped a few years ago the service plaza is well-maintained. Its clean and comfortable, they even have message chairs for the weary traveler. Open 24/7 It's a decent safe place to stop when you're on the turnpike.  Restrooms are very clean.  There's a Dunkin, Nathan's, pizza, sandwiches and even some healthy choices. Lines can be long. I've only been to the Dunkin here and on every occasion I always say to myself... I'm never going back. They are so slow you feel like you're never going to leave. If you have an electric car there are plenty of charging stations including 16 Tesla fast charge.  Since the renovation, entering and exiting is a bit confusing. There are plenty of gas pumps and it's a good place for a bathroom break. read more

Plenty of warning signs letting you know that the service plaza is coming up in a few miles and it is a LEFT EXIT as it serves both northbound and southbound traffic. Keep that in mind as you're leaving so that you don't accidentally go in the wrong direction. I'm sure that happens! Much better here as far as the condition of the restrooms because they're working on the ones in the building and have set up trailers outside. I thought they would be bad but they were actually pretty good. It was nice to be able to get out of the van and do a little walking around without having to negotiate traffic lights and intersections. Parking lot is busy. Drivers not paying attention and pedestrians not using the walkways so be aware for both as you're here. There is very little shade so getting a nap before continuing onwards was not possible today. Prices of the various outlets inside are high. I thought the "bake shop" cake vending machine was interesting and yes, they are $8.95 per slice and the slices are quite thin. We stopped here for a quick potty break and to fill up our bellies with a quick meal on our trip back from WPB. Their ladies' bathrooms were half closed off, but the side that was open had a lot of movement of people taking use of their lavatory. It was being maintained well considering how much movement there was, and we only saw a short time of it. The hand wash equipment offers both the no touch water dispenser plus some hand dryer on the Y formed device which takes a little bit of maneuvering to get it right but once you get it, it's cool. read more

Fort Drum service plaza is one of a handful of plazas you will pass while you are traveling north or south along the turnpike to wherever your destination may be. I usually pass this plaza once a month on my way to Orlando and every time I end up stopping here to stretch my legs. The parking is ample however the lot makes very little sense and it is easy to get confused and go the wrong way down a parking row. Masks are also no longer required while you are in there and it tends to get very busy on the weekends so I usually wear mine because it makes me feel safer. The last few times I have been here on a Friday afternoon, almost all of the food options are closed just around lunch time so I don't see how they are even open in the first place. The staff from when I have seen them are friendly but they won't do much for you if you ask them to clean up a table, they will tell you just to sit somewhere else and they never end up cleaning the table you ask for. The plaza also has a little store to buy snacks and drinks as well as a couple Florida items if you are not from here, for keepsakes, however it is all overpriced. A nice plaza but if there were better ones, I would easily stop at those without hesitation. read more

This is a coincidence but for some reason we stop at this particular rest stop every time we make a trip up to the Orlando area. But pretty much it's a decent rest stop nothing to write home about. The bathroom are some what clean. On this particular trip there was someone actually "cleaning" on of the stalls. But it was ok. We didn't stop for food. But we did stop to check out a few souvenirs and they are kind of expensive but what would you expect out of a rest stop in the middle of nowhere. read more

This service plaza is located along the Florida turnpike. We stopped here to grab a snack and use the restroom on the way home from Miami. It was the weekend after Thanksgiving so the service plaza was very busy. The restrooms were cleans and changing tables for the baby were available in both the men and women's restrooms. The restrooms are large and clean. Even on a holiday weekend there wasn't a line for the restroom. The downside to this plaza is that much of it was shut down. I'm guessing it is due to COVID, but many of the restaurants were not operating. Arthur Treacher's, Baskin Robbins, Earl of Sandwich, KFC, and Nathan's were all closed. The only things open were Wendy's, Dunkin Donuts, and the Convenience store. This meant those locations has horribly long lines. They were advertising a special of a free cup of coffee at the convenience store with purchase of a pastry. As nothing appealed there, we went to the Dunkin Donuts that was open instead. They have several other food options, too, but the only one open was the Wendy's. We used to have hotdogs from Nathan's but now prefer the KFC. They really should have all the concessions fully open by 11. am. Usually I have no complaints about the bathrooms, but this time they were disgusting. None of the flushing mechanisms were working. And if they did, the "new" water looked brownish yellow -- so even if you flushed, it didn't look like you had not done so. I'm imagining that because of the holidays, they were short staffed. Fort Drum Service Plaza is located at mile marker 185.1 on the Florida Turnpike. It has both and south bound entrances. On a trip to Orlando I stopped in for breakfast at Dunkin Donuts. Other restaurants at this rest stop include Arthur Treacher's, Baskin Robbins, Earl of Sandwich, KFC, Nathan's, and Wendy's. Other amenities at this plaza include a large restroom, vending machines, sundry and souvenir stores, ATM, massage chairs, perfume kiosk, attraction brochures, gas, and picnic tables. I prefer the mall like rest stops on the turnpike to the simple bathroom and vending machines if I-95. It always feels safer and you have more options for food on the turnpike. There are 8 service plazas from Snapper Creek to Okahumpka and they are all pretty much the same as far as services they offer. Parking can sometimes be a bit of a pain here but the number of services provided and the clean restrooms make any minor traffic inconvenience worth it. read more

This place is fairly clean and has an interesting selection of stuff but everything closes at a ridiculous hour so you can walk in but it's empty and you can't get food and you can't get drinks and you can't get anything but I guess you can use the bathroom so that's better than nothing. And if they still have a collection of employees walking around milking the clock getting paid for doing nothing standing around looking at each other. I cannot believe that they are paying all these people to stand around in here and eat donuts, this is insane. You go in the bathroom and they have closed off 3/4 of the bathroom they act like they're cleaning it but they're not cleaning it they just don't want you to use it so that they don't have to clean it again so they clean the bathroom and then they block off most of it so that only one small section can possibly get dirty. Never thought I'd see the day I'd review a rest stop, but here goes. Stopped at the Fort Drum Service Plaza on my way to Orlando. Needed gas, a bathroom break, and some food. You know - the usual necessities. It had been ages since I had been on the Turnpike this far north and I'm pleasantly surprised with the extent that they've updated the plaza. That's sadly where it ends. You still have the variety of foods as before. Dunkin Donuts, Villa, Wendy's, I believe they even have a Chicken Kitchen now. They also have your typical tourist store. That said, this is one of those that it gets the job done. No more, no less. I wish I could say more positive things, but frankly the bathroom looked like a tornado hit it. Just gross. read more
