I have to say that Darryl was just what I was looking for as he tested my eyes and made sure I had no problems like glaucoma. What was also very good about this Optician was that they had a great selection of eyeware. It's important that you are relaxed and have plenty of time to pick the right pair as it's a big decision. I spent nearly an hour trying on frames before I picked the one I was happy with and the assistant was cool with that. In the end, we both ended up buying new glasses here and have had no problems with them since. I don't really trust the chains like Specsavers and OPSM, I'd much rather have a local, experienced optician.

I love the colours, bright and beautiful. I love the textures, feminine, soft and floaty. AND I loved that they had a variety from different nationalities that I had not seen before; they had a section marked 'Thailand' and a section marked 'Vietnamese', plus the more traditional Indian ones were also for sale.The all varied in price between $12 to $25. You know, if you are ever stuck for an idea as for something to buy for a woman (provided she isn't the tom boy type) buy her a pashima scarf, they truly never go astray. They would especially be useful too for the cooler months coming up. I have at last three, two of which I bought myself, the third was a gift. I look forward to coming back here for another look one day soon.

In the…read moreneighbourhood visiting, I decided to take a look because as we all know; second hand stores can be like a treasure chest at the best of times. After a short walk through, I could see books, home ware items, clothing, shoes, strollers, toys. Out of the corner of my eye, I glanced at a Thomas the Tank engine. This toy was selling for 5 dollars, and my friend piped up; "Phoenix would be thrilled with that". I knew I had to get it! Well long story short is, he loves it, it works like magic and I found it in an Op shop! I love to explore stores and see what they have to offer; sometimes you walk out with nothing, we were lucky this time. You won't find a couch or TV, but you might find something useful for the time being.

This one is in Te Atatu Peninsula and I have browsed here on numerous occasions. There's plenty of clothes here but I am not so keen on wearing other peoples clothes - perhaps a jacket but not a t shirt or anything like that. The toys on offer seemed more appealing and the last time i was there I bought my nephew a couple of toy cars. One intriuging thing that caught my eye here was a selection of Jack Daniels merchandise - some Westie must have had a good clear out of his garage as there were shot glasses, trays, key rings and plates you could hang on the wall. Didn't really appeal to me but I reckon somebody will snap this stuff up. The staff here are exceptionally friendly and I must say it's one of the better Op Shops around.

The staff are friendly enough but not overly helpful.

Have heard one too many stories about negative experiences at chain optometrists. Harrison and Graham has been in Ponsonby for years and has a good range of frames, including frames for all your hipster needs. They've got a bunch of sweet sunnies as well that can have prescription lenses put in them The prices for eye tests are reasonable, and the staff are generally up for a good yarn. Super cute range of kids frames, just as an aside (including some very excellent kids sunnies that made me wish i actually had a kid to put them on...).
