Honestly, I think it was a rip-off the samosa's. I'm sure they doubled, if not tripled. Dip them into the hot oil because they had. Not a lot of taste. They were very dark. They were crunchy, which was good. The chutnee was watered down yogurt. Very disappointing, won't be going there again.

I had no idea that Chutney, a Pakistan restaurant, existed until a buddy of mine told me about it…read more What a sweet find, especially with the lack of Indian/Pakistan restaurants in the west end area. This place is where the old Lessard library branch used to be (which now has been converted to a mosque, crazy!). A buddy of mine and I decided to check out Chutney for lunch on a Saturday. We arrived at about 12:30pm and we were the first people to set foot in the restaurant. It wasn't very busy while we were there, with only three other groups coming in (two individuals and one family). By the time we left, they were setting up the buffet, with an intriguing selection of options to choose from. Next time! That or try their breakfast specials (weekends only). - 2x Vegetable samosa ($1.00 each) - our vegetable samosa's came out piping hot. Made in house and fresh, these were easily worth the $1.00 price tag. Should have got more! The mint chutney dip it came with was tasty but not spicy. - Naan bread ($1.99) - the naan bread was cut into four decent sized pieces, which was enough for both of us to share. This one was a little more robust and chewier, but it was, of course, perfect to soap up with the goat korma. - Goat korma ($14.99) - the goat was tender, flavourful and fell off the bone. We asked them about the different variations (there's also achari, curry, karahi, palak and vandaloo to choose from) and decided to go with the korma, which was slightly spicy and is a mix of yoghurt, cream, nuts and seeds. Seriously, goat is so gooooooooooood. - Vegetable biryani ($9.99) - the vegetable biryani was simple but helped balance out the rest of our meal. It came with a side of yoghurt raita, which we didn't really touch as it didn't add much to the dish. - Gulab jamun - we were each given a gulab jamun, on the house, to end our meal! Love freebies, so nice of them. These were light and most importantly, not overly sweet (which normally is the case). Service was super friendly. They ask you how spicy you want your meal to be (we went with a 6 but I'd recommend at least an 8 or 9 if you want it to be actually spicy). They were doing some renos in the back - according to our waiter, they are planning to grill meats and even have pizza soon! SWEET. If you're looking for a hidden gem, check out Chutney.

This was more than enough for two people. We had leftovers for the next day. - The food was delicious! When you order, they ask you the level of spiciness that you want (mild, medium and spicy). We ordered it medium and I'd say that this would be enough for most people. I'll probably try the spicy next time, but I like things REALLY spicy. If you're not much for spice, I would recommend trying the mild initially. Service: - We were quoted 30 minutes for pickup, but it was probably closer to 50 minutes by the time I was out of there with the order. To be fair - the restaurant is new and getting a lot of word of mouth AND it was Friday AND the neighbourhood has really been dying for a local food place. Staff were friendly and efficient despite the volume of orders and customers.

Their menu is very diversified and all delicious. They serve beef donairs, beef and chicken shawarmas, fries and a full menu of different poutines. Donair Station also serves burgers, homemade falafels, hummus, pizzas, chicken wings, souvlaki and rice plates. Sides, drinks and desserts are also served, including baklavas. Their beef donair comes in different sizes - regular, super, jumbo and belly buster. The regular sized beef donair is the usual size I take, with tomatoes, lettuce and onions, along with tasty donair sauce. Hot peppers, pickles, black olives and turnip pickle can also be chosen. Sauces include garlic, sweet, tzatziki and tahini. I have eaten the fries along with a donair, but I have eaten their traditional poutine as well - fries, cheese curds and of course gravy sauce. Donair Station's gravy is very good - it's more liquid than it is thick, which is actually very delicious and stays liquid even when it cools a bit. The restaurant is open from 11:00 AM to 10:55 PM. You can eat at the restaurant, but you can order ahead online (through their website) for take out. The dining area at the restaurant is small and private, as well as cozy. A perfect place to go on a date or with friends. Finally, Donair Station is definitely a great donair restaurant to eat a donair (and other dishes), and is definitely one of my favourites. A must !!
