Donair Station, located at 17234-95 Avé NW in Edmonton, has been a regular location to get a donair!! I have been going to Donair Station for over ten years now for a reason!!! Their menu is very diversified and all delicious. They serve beef donairs, beef and chicken shawarmas, fries and a full menu of different poutines. Donair Station also serves burgers, homemade falafels, hummus, pizzas, chicken wings, souvlaki and rice plates. Sides, drinks and desserts are also served, including baklavas. Their beef donair comes in different sizes - regular, super, jumbo and belly buster. The regular sized beef donair is the usual size I take, with tomatoes, lettuce and onions, along with tasty donair sauce. Hot peppers, pickles, black olives and turnip pickle can also be chosen. Sauces include garlic, sweet, tzatziki and tahini. I have eaten the fries along with a donair, but I have eaten their traditional poutine as well - fries, cheese curds and of course gravy sauce. Donair Station's gravy is very good - it's more liquid than it is thick, which is actually very delicious and stays liquid even when it cools a bit. The restaurant is open from 11:00 AM to 10:55 PM. You can eat at the restaurant, but you can order ahead online (through their website) for take out. The dining area at the restaurant is small and private, as well as cozy. A perfect place to go on a date or with friends. Finally, Donair Station is definitely a great donair restaurant to eat a donair (and other dishes), and is definitely one of my favourites. I had the belly buster donair for $25. Sadly it was the same size as my coworkers jumbo donair from them. It was tasty. They only let I have 4 toppings tho. It was smaller then basha donairs Sasquatch donair by a lot! And they do unlimited toppings it's only $18. So this was a high priced normal size donair in my opinion. read more

Thank you YELP restaurant finder for leading me to this little gem when I was in desperate need of a 10PM donair a few weeks back on my way home from a concert! The owner was friendly and the food was fresh. Since moving to Canada, I have fallen in love with Donairs and I take my Donair meat seriously. I'd give Donair Station a 8/10. The meat was fresh the toppings a plenty. So what didn't sell me on Donair Station completely? The pita? What you say? Well yes, I've become quite spoiled by my local Donair Shop that picks up fresh Pitas daily and makes them all fluffy and warm in their steamer. I've visited this location twice now and both times I found the pita itself a little on the dry/chewy side. They make up lots of other treats here you wouldn't typically find at a Donair Shop like fresh house made hummus, schwarma platters, kebobs, etc. Definitely has something for everyone! read more

If you were looking for that hidden gem where you can get processed meat pressed into a log, cooked on an upright spit, and then shaved into thin strips using a meat planer. Well, now you have found it. It is a small location with less than 10 tables. They are friendly and the donairs are excellent. If you order the super donair, you will not go hungry. I find the regular to be more than big enough with a ton of meat in it. The super is "Ginormous"! For those checking, yes Ginormous is a word! This has been my go-to donair shop ever since I moved to the area in 2011. Every time I get a donair craving, this little restaurant fulfills my needs. Everything is made fresh, which really adds to the flavour. Plus the fellow who runs this place is very friendly. The sauce on the donair is delicious. The fries and onion rings are all cooked to order and the seasoning they use is addictive. The little restaurant offers seating if you want to eat in, or you can take out too. It is a cozy little space and very clean and welcoming. As one of the reviewers states, you may be able to get a donair for cheaper in Edmonton, but I argue that you won't likely find one that's much better. And I've eaten a lot of donairs in my lifetime. The menu also offers a range of pizzas and shawarma platters which are served with rice. I am sorry to say I've never ventured too far on the menu as the donairs are what I'm hooked on. Only problem is that they aren't open terribly late, so if you get a donair craving past 9:00pm, you'll have to go elsewhere. Yelp gave me a coupon to use for 2 combos for $20. My boyfriend and I showed up to use the coupon and they would not honour it and claimed it must have been an old coupon. I had just received the coupon from yelp earlier today. Any decent business would honour a coupon that was valid. Their food is decent but doesn't make up for poor customer service. Fast and Friendly! My favorite is the chicken schwarma platter. Little crispy and tender bits of chicken on top of a bed of rice with garlic sauce and a salad on the side. Yum. Came in during the lunch hour and found the place about half full but no line up to order. I ordered the donair but asked them to hold the cheese ($7) and shared large fries ($5). While waiting for our food, I used the bathroom. There's only one and there was no toilet paper. One of the guys working gave me a roll, from where they keep it in the kitchen area. We sat at a table that was to the side of the kitchen area and watched them prepare our food. Like other places I have seen when they prepare food, is the use of bare hands. Although I have never gotten sick, I seem to miss the part where they wash their hands first. Or maybe I don't want to know. When we got home, the food was packaged well and hot. The sauce from the donair dripped and bit messy as usual but good. I enjoyed it with some fries for a filling lunch. They give you a lot of fries for large and could be shared with another. Next time I'm craving a donair, would try this place again and hope they do a thorough handwash before preparing the food. read more

Got here close to closing so it took a little while to serve me up a donair. Nice and clean place, they also do burgers, souvlaki and kabobs. Lots of families in here so must be a hit with the kids. Donair Station gets very busy at lunch time - that in itself is a good sign. I went in the mid-afternoon, when the place was a bit less busy. I had a chicken shawarma which was full of chicken, garlic sauce, pickled, lettuce, and purple pickled turnip. I was impressed by how much chicken was in the pita. I especially liked the garlic sauce - in many places, the sauce is so strong it can scare away vampires. Here, it was just right - flavourful, but leaving me the ability to kiss someone without freaking them out. On the other side of the table, a cheese donair and order of fries was ordered. The donair was huge and the fries looked great. I definitely want to try a donair the next time I am over there. Other items on the menu include burgers, subs, and pizza. Prices are reasonable, the place is clean, and service is quick unless it is very busy. A definitely west-end destination if you want a quick bite - just try to avoid peak hours. read more

I am a long time customer of this location and wish them luck in the future. The actions of the employees here do not represent the owner. However I am beyond disturbed by the interaction tonight with the location. Tonight just before 6 pm I went into get 2 doniars to bring home for supper. Ordered fine, but when the cook was making the order, he stepped away from the counter, sneezed into his mask, then proceeded to adjust his mask with the gloves he was using to make the order. He then returned to making the order, after he picked up the sauce to put on the donairs I interrupted him and let him know he was just touched his mask with the gloves he was wearing. He lost it on me, and started yelling at me. meanwhile adjusting his mask more with the gloves. He yelled at me and said I don't know any better. Then he preceded to call me a "White Boy Racist". Hand hygiene no matter pandemic or not should still be followed, and touching a mask right after you sneeze on it is the same as sneezing into your hands and not washing them. I am of mix race and was very insulted by this discrimination and racism. The lack of hand hygiene is very worrisome pandemic or not. This review will be forwarded to Alberta Health Services for follow up. The other employee had to remove this one employee from the front, he physically had to move him to the back room, as he was continuing to yell at me and calling me a racist. Well maintained and nicely appointed place. Friendly staff. Decent selection. 4 sizes of donair. Even a size bigger than Jumbo... that will run you a whopping $17! I've never seen that before. I ordered a jumbo (12.35 alone) with sweet sauce. Cup of Garlic sauce. Bottle of water. Pricey. Over $15 for the above. Admittedly...the Jumbo was pretty big. But not that big! Meat was cut thin. Spiced allright. Cooked well. Veggies were fresh. I'm pretty sure I got cheese. Lol. It was all quite hot and melted. I actually didn't want cheese. Employee made no mention of it as we decided on toppings. I witnessed the chef put the sweet sauce on. A fair bit at that. Even put a big dollop on tge open end after folding and wrapping. Alas...this dolop was really the only discernable taste of the sauce I got. The rest disappeared into the mound of meat and ran to the bottom. Regarding "the bottom"... Wow. It was so greasy looking I had to take a pic. More so than most. Garlic sauce was ...ok. But also had a greasy sheen and looked separated. All in all... Really run of the mill. Came here after being told it is THE place to go in the west end for donairs, so the anticipation was high. Ordered the jumbo donair combo with fries and a donair burger combo with onion rings. Both came to about $35 after tax and tip (corrected from my original statement, but I went back and found the receipt to confirm), so it's definitely not a cheap fast food lunch. Also - no credit cards; cash/debit only. The donair meat was ok. Not too dry, but the flavour was lacking. The burger actually had a beef patty and donair meat (I don't know why, but I just assumed it was donair on a hamburger bun instead of a wrap. Not a bad thing, just a note. The patty was unfortunately dry.). A good donair is made by having a great sweet sauce - this definitely makes or breaks it. Unfortunately, these were not coated in a good one. Too runny, not sweet enough and had a taste I couldn't put my finger on. Paprika and vinegar? Not sure, but it wasn't what we were searching for. The service is really nice. It wasn't busy at noon on a weekday. There is actually a way better donair place just a little ways away on 170 - that's a better choice. read more

Overhyped, lackluster donair. Dropped in after work to try this place out and was highly disappointed. After reading this reviews of this place, I expected much more than overpriced cardboard. I ordered a jumbo donair with all the fixings for a whopping $13.60, what I received was a donair that would have been a regular anywhere else. The donair meat was under seasoned, sweet sauce was bland. Worse off all the pita itself was cold and dry like it had been sitting for a week past it"s best before date. Will not return. read more

Overpriced for what you get!! You can get a donair that is twice the size, for a few dollars less all over the city. The meat, both chicken and beef (tried the mixed donair), needs to be put on the fryer before going in the donair, which they did not do, leaving it rubbery!!! A lottle crunch on the edges really helps the texture. Much better places in the city to go than this...I don't think I will ever come back. read more

The most delicious donair place I've ever been to. I've tried donairs from all over the place including my home country, Turkey, and this is the most delicious one in Edmonton! The chicken is absolutely delicious and well cooked, the beef is just as amazing. Their poutines are incredible and they have wonderful sides such as onion rings. The donair sauce is so, so good!! They really make the best poutines here and have amazing customer service. Everything is 100% halal and so yummy! They have salads, combos, kebabs, plates, and home made foods too! They even have baklava! Iwould recommend this to anyone who wants to have a taste of Turkish donair and anyone who loves donair. It is absolutely wonderful! 5 stars from me!!! This is my go-to place for donair! Yes it is a bit expensive as in ranging from $9-10 for a regular chicken donair, but it's only because their food is quality and definitely worth it. This used to be my favourite Donair place. Now they have raised the price and you get less because they have also changed the take out containers. The order we got yesterday was very disappointing. There was two pieces of meat on the donair and a few vegetables. Not impressed when compared to what you used to get. Also the garlic sauce with the shawarma platter had little garlic. Went here for lunch today for the first time and was not let down! It is nice and clean, the staff is great, and food is excellent. Worst donair I have ever had in my life. Soggy, two tomato slices, flavorless (unless you count grease as a flavor). The cheese was what I assume was a processed cheese slice? Took up 1/8th of the soggy, thin pita. Save your money and go to a small shop in a mini mall. They usually take the time to make your food property. read more
