This library is such a great place to bring young ones. The children's section is expansive with so many activities. The amount of kids books is excellent. Also the kids programs are top notch. The staff are worked to near death and it shows. People drop off 50+ books for staff to check in like it's not a big deal. New check in machine hasn't worked for over a month so staff has to check it in manually all day long. When you get on the Westerville Library website it will tell you something's in stock and then when you get to the library they tell you it's actually available at a different Library. Ever since they joined Columbus's ghetto system everything's gone way downhill. This used to be a quality Library now it's just a capitalist garbage Library just like the rest of Franklin county. Just another Library run by tone deaf ignorant people that have more than enough money to pay their bills while everybody beneath them does the grunt work while they stand over them proudly. I sat in on one of the board meetings and the HR lady was bragging about how she saved the library $200,000 by cutting off health care to the library staff. They were given cheap ichra instead. They really don't care about their staff and it shows. read more

Full confession - today is the first time I've been in the Westerville Library in over five years. Library visits were more common and more frequent when I had kids at home. But once they were off to college, my visits to the library stopped. The primary purpose of today's visit was to get a document notarized. While there, I saw that they have a large computer lab (looked like 20 computers); a study room and plenty of tables and chairs. Spacious, clean, bright, and inviting. During my time in the library, I had contact with 6 employees and all were very pleasant, friendly and ready to offer assistance. Very impressed with both the facilities and the staff. I think this calls for another visit. read more

What a great library! It has a nice large main space with the reference desk and stacks. The hallway includes several little exhibit boxes with items on display. I didn't continue all the way down the hallway, but based on the signage it looks like it is a shared space with the Westerville History Museum. I attended a library-hosted event in the meeting rooms. These spaces were very nice. There were some great pieces of art along the walls, and it made for a great space for a group of interested readers attending an author chat. The librarians were very friendly and helpful, as well. There is an attached garage, as well as a large lot out back. A couple of picnic tables are near the entrance to the building too. read more

Very organized, well laid out, friendly staff, fun story times for the little ones. The story times here are fantastic, fun and very entertaining for my daughter. The staff members do a great job telling stories, leading the songs and entertaining the kids. Afterwards there is some sort of sensory activity where the children get to play with others and have fun. We enjoy coming to this library and appreciate the hard work and hours that the staff put into making story time great. Coffee- there is a Crimson coffee cup station in the lobby. There is a Wizards party coming up on 10/26/28 and the library already has lots of Wizard decorations up. It's fun to loom at all of the items on display. read more

We went for the wizards and wands event and it was really neat. This library is huge and every bit of it was decked out in Harry Potter and Hogwarts themed decor. They had giants (stilt walkers), a magician (or illusionist, if you prefer), and lots of library personnel in costume. There were stations throughout the library with tasks to complete to earn raffle tickets. Probably a blast for elementary aged children but we had fun, too! By the time we were leaving, there were so many people in the library it was hard to move around at all. What a great event! read more

This is the best library, hands down! I have been going here for about 15 years, and I love it all! (Heads up this will be a long review because I truly love this library and everything it offers. If you just want to drink a coffee and enjoy a book, you have all the room and peace to do so. They have a convenient drive- thru drop off location on the side of their building, or if you drive into their parking garage you can drop off your items in their drop off boxes there too or just go inside and slide your items through their automated conveyer belt with an option for your receipt. You can also request to pick up things online, and if it's available, and depending on the time of day you request the material, you can usually get it the same day! To pick up items is a little more complicated, instead of going to the main desk inside, you want to stay in their hallway area, it's closer to the front of the library building, but you'll see it when you see an attendant waiting for you :) They also have a cute separate gift shop in this hallway, with little stuffed toys, books and other miscellaneous items. This library has a large selection of everything! Right when you walk in you're in a large lobby, with a staff member always on hand to help. In the foyer there's also a little coffee station for coffee or treats to purchase and an attendant is there to help you as well. Also, behind that little coffee station is an elevator which has helped me when I come here with my daughter and her stroller! The large movie section, audio books, cd's, & kids and teen sections are to your right with a librarian in each section. Upstairs is the large computer room, a large selection of magazines, and fiction and non-fiction books. Also right upstairs near the steps is a display to usually tell you exciting upcoming features like the 3-D printing this library can do! Upstairs also provides study nooks and tutor rooms, tables and seating areas in between the fiction and non-fiction aisles, and another help desk! Friendly librarians are everywhere here! To print black and white pages of whatever you may need is .10 (10 cents) a page. You can also fax things as well. If you need any help with printing, faxing or adding money to your account, a librarian is always willing to help! This library offers story time which is free and has authors come here, usually you have to a pay a fee to meet authors. I remember the author of Orange is the New Black came here a while ago so that was pretty cool! The toddler section is fun too! To enter, there's a normal doorway for adults, and a couple cute little openings for kids to crawl through! In the toddler section they provide some puppets you can play with with your kids, plastic groceries and carts, and a small computer lab as well. And of course, a ton of books! It's set up to have fun and be playful and imaginative which is nice. As long as we don't move too far away, this will be our library of choice, and I hope my daughter comes to enjoy it as much as I still do. When I requested that the library look into a particular ebook, they responded back within 30 minutes to let me know they purchased it and it was now available to be loaned out......amazing. I have recently just moved to the area and I wanted to check out the uptown area and everything it had to offer. Therefore I started to explore the library first. Not only was I amazed how organized the library was but the staff were very nice and helpful when I searched for a book or movie. I have been to other libraries and I did not get the upbeat personality or interest to help me find anything in the others. In addition to the library and it's amenities you have the nice cafe area where you can relax with your cup of coffee and book to read. They also offer an hour rental for video games such as the xbox and also their laptop computers. Not only have I become a fan of this place but I will definitely give a thumbs up with their customer service and thorough delivery of material. read more

You can reserve your copy of a dvd & when it's ready they send you an email so you know you can come pick it up. I can renew any books/movies I have out on the internet. Of course I am a fan, although I think I am a fan of every library... The Westerville library is really nice and spacious and I became a regular immediately (we are talking at least two visits a week). They have a large childen's area that is decorated to fit the imagination. They have a large media area full of CDs and DVDs, which suits my movie buff standards. The second level is a black hole of books, I say black hole in the kindest way since you will wonder up there to look in one section and realize you have been there for an hour. There are plenty of computer, tutors, study rooms, and table for people looking for some time to work (or sleep, which has been spotted a time or two). As you enter they also have a crimson cup station which I believe is always manned during their business hours. The efficiency of this library really takes it up a notch also. Since this library does not host as many patrons as the Columbus library, nor the same demographic you can often request a new movie or book on their website and realize the wait list is either non-existent or less then 10 people, which is fantastic! They have self-checkout available which helps if you are in a hurry and want to run in and out... and if you are even in a bigger hurry they have a drive-up window where you can pick up your items and/or drop them off. (FYI, if you bring your furry friend through the drive-thro they may get a little treat). And last but not least this library is actually up to times. We are talking easy to use site where you can handle your account online. They have a great app where you can easily search and request materials. And last but not least they have a twitter, which can alert you of special drawings/contests, alert you of special programs, and of course ask you deep, thought-provoking questions such as: movie or book? worst ending? longest read? etc. :) So if you live in or near Westerville I encourage a visit :) read more

My favorite library for the past 15 years or longer...they have the best selection of books, movies, magazines, music, and audio books.. I love taking classes here for essential oils and learning a new language.. They have a book club and many arts and crafts for children...I love being able to renew my books online very conveniently.. The employees are not only friendly but knowledgable and always willing to give good recommendations.. They also are always selling books and music at a very low price.. I will continue only coming to this library because in 15+ years, it continues to impress me! read more

Citizens of Westerville, I command you to love your library. You don't know what you have until you leave it, and move to a town that is also supposed to have lovely libraries (Portland, Oregon), but instead discover that your new city is possessed of tiny locations that have very few actual books on the shelves. Oh, and there are 10 DVD's and a tiny bin of CD's. It is heartbreaking. As I write this, I am realizing that this is the most homesick review I have ever written. I miss the Westerville Library so much. I have lived in Oregon for eleven years, and I still fantasize about the Westerville Library. I still visit it every time I am in town. Westerville's library features pretty much every book or media item you could want. There is an astonishing aisle of cookbooks (trust me, this is not normal in the rest of the country), all the latest knitting and sewing books, and a media center that rivals a small Blockbuster. Need a book about an obscure moment in costume history? They have it. Do you feel your child needs a wing of his/her own at the library? They have it. I used to live very close and was a frequent visitor, but then I moved away, to Hilliard. Now I am back working in Westerville and visited the library during lunch one day. All the warm and fuzzies came back and I happily got a new borrower's card (you can register online, then pick up at the front desk). It's such a great library. Very cool they have a drive-up window to pick up reserves. The staff is friendly. It makes me want to move back. read more

I really like this library. There are plenty of little study nooks on the second floor in the back, behind the non-fiction stacks. I do think it's funny that each one protrudes from the building, so if you look out the window, you see the person in the next nook over. There are also tables and cushy chairs out in front of the stacks, as well as scattered on the first floor. It does get crowded here. When I first came here, I was confused because the reserves are kept away from the main center. Instead, you walk down the hall, and the reserve counter is across from the restroom and computer lab. I later realized that this was because they have a drive-thru window for people to pick up their reserves. Though this is a wonderful library, I get too distracted by the actual processes of the library, observing patrons as they navigate the library, overhearing staff discussion about workflows, etc., to ever really be productive while studying here. But they do have a Starbucks Kiosk so you can sip coffee while browsing the music and DVD room. read more

Westerville Public Library is a prime example of how Columbus does libraries well. The first time I visited WPL was for a meeting. Mind you, they have many closed off meeting and study rooms all throughout the building. This library has been around for almost 80 years and has a decent history section, which actually has two floors including a small museum on the first. Teen sections are sometimes so small that you miss them walking by, but WPL has a sizeable one with lots of comfy chairs to sit on in the lounging area, iMac computers and stacks in the back as well as a magazine rack. It looks like an area that would be a good hangout for teens. However, the teen section is dwarfed in comparison to the children's section right next to it which is huge! From stacks upon stacks of non-fiction and fiction books to an entire room devoted to picture books to an activity center and kid's computer lab, there's something for the youngest reader to the pre-teen. The section for grown-ups is on the second floor, away from all the fluff of the youngsters' sections. There are just as many stacks about in the adult section as in the children's, as well as some lounging area, tons of computers and Wi-Fi outlets, as well as study rooms. Oh, and don't miss the audiovisual section. The DVDs are and kid's videos are in stacks decorated to look like movie reels and the CDs are in stacks made to look like electric guitars. The selection is fairly decent and you can even sit back and watch a movie playing on the TV. WPL also has computer learning classes, sign language classes and others. For adults there is a Winter Reading Program. If you like to write, there is a writing contest for children and adults. read more

Westerville Public Library is an AMAZING place!! They definitely SERVE the community!! Not only do they have a TON of materials -- but they ALSO have meeting rooms, group study rooms, and tutor rooms -- all of which you can reserve if you so desire! You can place holds on popular items -- and they have a DRIVE UP window to conveniently grab your holds when they arrive. The "Friends of the Library" run their "gift shop" where you can purchase used books VERY INEXPENSIVELY! And of course, there's a yummy coffee counter to be able to purchase drinks & snacks if you get the munchies while there... There are alot of other "features" too -- too numerous to list ALL of them -- but definitely check with the library if you're wondering about a service or material you might be seeking!! They've ALWAYS been happy to help whenever I've had to inquire about something... I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Westerville library!! read more

This place has been one of my favorite places in town since i was a little kid! Its so big and nice and just keeps adding more things to improve it! A huge selection on dvds and blue rays your almost guarantee to find whatever movie you want! A great teen section of books, graphic novels, and magazines this is a great area to read and hang out. The kids area is great with a big play area, lots of activities in a room where they do reading time and other things, this is a paradise for little kids. You can even play video games in the media area! You can rent laptops that work great! Theres even a small historic building in it thats fun to look around! Best library ever! read more

I love the bright open atmosphere of the atrium and the sunlight that spills into the stacks upstairs. Downstairs are meeting rooms, more books and the media section which boasts hundreds if not thousands of DVDs Blu Rays audio CDs /mp3s and more! Dude. This library is awesome. Does your library have Dragonforce and Manowar cd's? Does your library have a nice selection of Clutch recordings? DO THEY??? This library has two floors of media; a huge music and dvd section on the first floor and a massive book collection on the second. There is just no downside here. Free wifi, coffee for $1.60, books, magazines, etc. I guess this is where some of my outlandish property tax money goes, but I'm totally ok with that. read more

Recently found a list of books that are top books to read, so I decided to head over to my local library and see what I could check out. Prior to heading over to the library, I looked online to see which books they had in, and which they didn't. After determining the 2 books I was going to check out, I headed over to the library. The Westerville Public Library is beautiful. Each section is easy to find, and the shelves are clearly marked. It was super easy for me to find what I was looking for. They also have their catalog throughout the library, so that's another big plus. Reason for the 4 star and not 5 is that their online catalog is a bit misleading. I was looking for a specific book and online it says that it's not available. When I went into the library, I searched for the small book, and found it in large print. I think they should let you know if they have it or not regardless of where it is at. read more

I have been to many libraries but this is my number one favorite. The drive thru pick up and drop off has been extremely helpful to me. They have quite the DVD and Blu-Ray collection, with new releases, golden oldies and TV series. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. This is a great library! The staff upstairs and down are very nice and helpful. I got my library card, was introduced to their e-library , instructed on how to order through my Kindel, and picked up a new release book in the same trip. The librarian suggested it for me so I wouldn't have to wait on an e-book return and then found it for me. it is beautiful, spacious and best of all has many great books! read more

The Westerville library is amazing. I love the kids area, planned activities (though they sometimes get booked up quickly), and the huge selection of books as well as media. The drive-thru option is also extremely convenient! We also have enjoyed playing in the park adjacent to the parking lot. read more

I have been going here since I was in elementary school! Staff is always helpful and selection is very large. I happened to come across a book in a series that the library didn't have, however a library in Canton, OH happened to have the book and the Westerville library had it shipped to them so I could read and it was all free! Used to come in and use the computers for the free internet before smartphones and the children's/teens section is pretty big and always has something going on. The library it's self always has an event or activity going on. read more
