Columbus has been on a building spree, and many of our branches are new and slick. This one is larger than some, and very bright and airy. Not as many books inside as the size might suggest, but many workstations, including quiet little study rooms you can close off for a bit more quiet. Large kids' section with a bus that Baby K will love. Very small aviation book selection, considering its proximity to the airport. I used to come to the old location, and I swear they had more there. Big parking lot. And out front, a historical marker for Norton Field, Columbus' first airport.

Guess who couldn't wait to curl up with her new book?

Whenever the family moves to a new city, one of the first things we do after getting settled is scope out the local library scene. Library trips are common for us, and I love the fact that my girls have grown up seeing mom and dad reading often. That's cultivated a love of reading for them as well. Today, Peyton and I took a detour from the Columbus Metropolitan Library branch closest to us and made our first visit to the new Whitehall branch. I absolutely love it! The design is fresh and modern, with lots of open, collaborative spaces. If you need privacy or quiet, there are also several study rooms and quiet rooms too. We spent all of our time here in the children's area, and there are plenty of activities to keep the kids engaged. We found cool little reading nooks, interactive computer tables and walls and even a "bus" in a dedicated play area. Ready for more? Columbus State sponsors dedicated study areas that are available for students, but there are also life skills classes, resume writing sessions and a host of other adult learning services offered in the space as well. Don't let the location deter you from taking advantage of the many free resources like DVDs or CDs you can borrow or the Homework Help Center for the kids while enjoying it all in laid back, modern space.

This is without a doubt my favorite library in the Metro Columbus area. Now, it's not as large as others and the location can be a little off-putting (it's in Whitehall) but the activities and the facilities that they have are amazing. I'm extremely happy about the resources that they have available for the children. When I walked in the entire place was covered with children reading, studying at the interactive stations and as a parent, that just warmed my heart. It's definitely the library of choice for my children and I!

I've been going to the Whitehall branch of the library for over 40 years. The new remodeled library is amazing! The drive up dropbox and pick up window save time and is helpful for the disabled, new moms, people on the way to/from work, etc. It is for everyone. The children's library with sitting areas, computers, so many books just a wonderful place to install a love of reading at an early age. There is also a quite area for reading with a fireplace and plenty of computers for everyone.

Beautiful new building, lots of glass. Open and bright inside. Large children's area. I didn't see the other areas, because I have a kid... K found what she wanted, admired the fish tank, played in the play areas. Very pleasant all around. We are lucky to have a great library system in Franklin County, often rated one of the best in the nation, with many branches, which are being upgraded regularly. Great staff, large selection, easy to reserve. Not to mention the programs and events and electronic offerings. Honestly, one of the centers of the community and a driver of excellence.

But this new library is incredible. I especially like all the "New Book" areas. Tons of spots for your little ones, your teens or maybe you just want to sit and relax and plug in or unplug. Inside, you would have no idea you are on busy Brice Road. Lots of parking, love the landscaping. We need more than 5 stars.

Children are running rapid, climbing over furniture and screaming..... babies having temper, tantrums and adult / staff doing absolutely nothing to correct the issue. Forget about trying to concentrate because that is not happening here. I have been at this location several times, mornings, afternoon and evening, and it's always the same scenario. Even with wax earplugs or EarPods you simply cannot mask the noise level. I've spoken with staff regarding the issue and was told it's normal. After school is out then you're dealing with disrespectful teenagers, sitting around, acting up and being disruptive and claiming all the decent computers just to sit and watch videos or play games. Can't they do this at home so that others can actually utilize the library as it was meant to be used? If the teens have taken up all the adult allowed area ( yes their sections for the age groups ) and there is a free seat elsewhere you NOT allowed to use it unless you have a child with you. If that's not discriminating I don't know what is. Wasted tax dollars at work!!! Would've been cheaper to build a free daycare center elsewhere. While I enjoy the futuristic modern design, the open center is complete wasted space only designed for aesthetic purposes, not useful. And lastly, with all the windows, it is absolutely freezing in the winter time....and yes burning up in the summer. I suggest New Albany library where the youth have respect for their surroundings, unless you're a deadbeat parent needing to pawn your child off on someone else, then the Gahanna library is for you.

This branch was located less than 2 miles from a friend's house where I was going for a party that day. It's right off the freeway and had plenty of parking. Having never been here before, I walked in and looked around. Hand to God, the 2 staffers I encountered working there both looked at me and smiled and said hi. Super nice for a 1st impression. I wandered straight ahead to get a feel for the lay out and was quickly able to find the non-fiction section. As I neared the place in the stacks where my book SHOULD be, I think I was holding my breath - having been unable to find books that were "in" way too many times. But sure enough - the book was right where it was supposed to be. I grabbed it and walked back towards the doors. I figured the check outs would be there - and they were. I love how simple it is to sign out a book at any of the CML locations. I punched in my info, scanned my book and printed the receipt which I use as a bookmark. WHile I don't have reason to get to this part of town, I would gladly return as this was a great library with excellent staff!

They sprung into emergency alert status until she reassured them that she just needed to check her number. I myself have stopped by at the old location to get a BP check, and they took some old medications for disposal. Not sure if this location will also take old US flags for proper disposal. Check online for a post office, library, or emergency response station. Interior and exterior were neat and tidy. Staff was neat, and clean in uniform. People usually only think of these first responders in an emergency, and a plate of cookies over the holidays. Get in touch. They offer more.

One of the firemen came in and took me into a little side room & sat me down & asked me a few questions, like was I feeling ok, did I feel dizzy, those kind of things. I told him I felt fine but we were out for the day & id forgotten my kit and just wanted to be on the safe side. He checked it and everything was fine. So not only will they check your blood pressure for free, as most people know, but they will also check your blood sugar for free. Our firefighters don't just put out fires. They are there to help in whatever way they can!
